In the corner of his room measuring three by four meters. Tal sat in front of his desk and was still writing his term paper assignments. His brows were furrowed as he recited the paragraph that he needed to present in class. Making mistakes several times confirming the exact words to say.
Meanwhile, it is almost dawn. He started muttering to himself, rereading what he had written to get a straight-A. The topic that he wrote descriptively was Spanish literature and its influence on his country. He looked for misspellings and incorrect grammar until he felt sleepy and the words that he wrote started blurring in his vision.
Tal woke up feeling excruciating pain in his neck, it was at that moment that he realized that he has just fallen asleep at his study desk. He quickly got up. He touched his neck and massaged it trice. He felt the cold atmosphere and the smell of his scented candle.
This room was his comfort place. The room where he shared his boredom and loneliness in life. He wondered to himself, what if he was a normal teenager just like anybody else? How happy could he be thinking there's at least one friend who always got his back every time he breaks down? What does it feel to have a study body where he can share jokes to fight to fall asleep.
He leaned against the wall as he was trying to find the light switch. When he felt it at his fingertips, he pressed it. The light was so bright that it hurt his eyes. He immediately massaged it and furrowed his thick brows. It took him about 3 seconds to get used to the brightness of the light.
He looked around him and saw the rain pouring outside his window. Without notice, his tears started to fall out. It is the first rain that he saw ever since Ves got rebirth into Talin. Tal winched in pain while rubbing his chest, he couldn't help but cry because it was Ves' comfortable weather, and realizing what he's been going through, he decided to just let his tears flow just like the raindrops that keeps on banging from their roof.
Suddenly a voice came up from nowhere, "why did you turn on the light?". The voice shocked Talin haft to death. The voice of the male's shadow made him panic. From looking at the man's figure Tal saw that the man was tall and full of appeal, the man looked like a model.
"Who are you? I can't recognize you" Talin spoke to the mysterious man. The man just left out. Talin squeaked, he woke up from his deep sleep and realized it was just another weird dream but this time he cried. He woke up having a pain in his neck from falling asleep at his study desk.
Even though he could not remember what exactly the man looked like, he knew for sure it was somehow connected to his family or just a random dream that most the people encountered in their sleep. He moved his body slowly. Agony graced his face. His dream was too real and it made him feel strange.
Talin decided to sleep again since it was just three in the morning. He hugged his pillow and faced the wall. He has to go early to school tomorrow to prepare his report for class.
"Please let me sleep, I have an important report tomorrow please don't make me sleepless." He released a sigh while speaking to himself.
…
Talin had to leave earlier than usual. He had a hard time
fixing his hair and almost got annoyed. Several times he finally rearranged it. It affected his mood for school, at last, he left the house after leaving his brother a note.
The campus gates opened at four and he went there at exactly five. He did not wait for the school bus to arrive but he walked to get there instead. He has been an early bird ever since he started schooling and always went to bed early. While Mrs. Cuevas and Gayo sometimes woke up late.
Before going to school he begged his brother to wash the dishes for him. Gayo, who seldomly washes the plates, was not very happy with what his brother had asked him to do. Since childhood, Gayo was known for his hobby of saying no to washing the plates and he rather just cooked rice for their family. All he did was play video games and talk to different girls all the time.
Talin arrived at the gates of his university. He scanned his identification card and the gates opened for him. As always, the guards of the school were just like statues with poker faces. While walking, the silence inside the campus banged his ears, only the sound of birds chirping can be heard.
There were no other students in his school this early except the class monitors. On his way, he passed by their class monitor. It has been almost a week since the school year started yet he still cannot distinguish his classmates' faces and their names. He was far away from the guy when he entered their empty classroom.
He looked at the guy's seat and found out his name was Arvin Yu. The guy was always firm, irreproachable, and taintless. He came into the classroom twenty seconds after Tal arrived. Arvin approached his shy classmate.
"Hi, I suppose you're Talin Cuevas right?" Arvin asked.
Tal inhaled sharply and gave a nod.
"I know it's weird but can I be your friend?" Arvin asked again.
"Why would you want to be friends with a nobody like me? If you want something you can say it straight to my face" Tal confusingly stated.
"Don't think so highly of me, Yes I'm the class monitor, but that was because my mom was one of the benefactors of this school. It was never my will to take this position and bro what sucks the most is that I have to wake up this fucking early to become a ROLE MODEL." Arvin laughed bitterly.
