I rushed upstairs and sprinted through the marsh, arriving at the scene. Unfortunately, most of the kobolds, including the young ones, were dead. Only a few had managed to survive, but all of them were severely injured. The sight was grim and filled with sorrow.
"What do you think you're doing!?" I scowled, shouting at the atrocity he had made.
"Oh, you're back!" he greeted me with a mischievous grin, further annoying me. "Just cleaning up these monsters."
"Cleaning up? Those creatures had already surrendered and bear no hostility!" I shouted, "I told you to stay and guard the portal! Not massacre unarmed civilians!"
"You-You call this civilians? But they are monsters." he calmly replied, but it struck me. Why was I angry? True, they were all monsters, but they're no longer a threat.
And to my eyes, the true monster... is him.
"Leave the monsters alone. They're already surrendered."
