Forced backwards by the first zombie, the second male zombie growled, pushing the first one away, and it staggered towards Ryver. Pulling the door close with the handle, he kicked at the door once more, slamming it against the zombie as it staggered backwards.
He held its hands, drawing it forwards and with a shoulder throw, he flipped the zombie off the stairs.
Ryver looked down the stairs and saw people rushing out from various floors with zombies pouncing and ripping them apart.
There were about two dozen of them on the stairs, with how many they were, the stairs on that particular floor immediately got crowded. The Undead jumped at them, taking bites after bites, tearing chunks of flesh and swallowing them with relish.
Screams of panic and fear could be heard. People pushed and shoved each other to the ground even stomping some of those who had fallen to death in the panic.
Raauugghh!
A zombie who was feasting on the organs of a twitching corpse immediately spotted Ryver up the stairs. It growled as it clumsily climbed the stairs, wanting to take a bite out of him.
The axe wheezed through the air and with a bang slashed through its skull. The zombie screeched as its head was been smashed, brain matter splattered on the wall and its head bounced against the wall, falling to the ground but didn't die. Ryver finished it off with the stomp of his boot.
He then began walking down the stairs after stabbing the brain of the corpse that had yet to turn. Ryver locked the stair door behind him. He didn't want to be caught by surprise by any zombie.
Moving down the stairs, the angle was better and the zombies were much slower. In Ryver's eyes, they weren't much different from a motionless target.
He broke through skulls easily with the axe and stab those that managed to survive with bite marks on them.
"H-help me!" Ryver had just reached the 27th floor when he spotted a zombie tearing through a man's hands, trying to get to his neck. The man held the zombie off using his hands and legs. Ryver arrived and pierced his blade through the neck and into the brain. It was a much easier access to the brain.
The man struggled but managed to push the zombie corpse off of him. "T-thank you." The man clutched his elbow as he breathed desperately for air. The radiation seem to be affecting him as he rested his back on the wall. The radiation had already sunk deep into his body.
Ryver glanced at the bite wound on the man's forearm and his broken leg. It seems during the chaos, he fell, but no one made an attempt to help him up and simply stomped through him. Such a pity.
Puchi!
The man's eyes widened in shock, as he felt a cold sensation in his brain. Before he knew it, he was dead. Most people would consider it mercy, Ryver thought. He withdrew his blade and resumed moving downwards.
Seven to eight floors below, corpses littered the stairs. Those that had been bitten, and those that had died from being stomped to death.
Ryver could hear the sound of several zombies feasting. While the stairs weren't a narrow one, it was enough for Ryver to defend himself and kill the zombies effectively.
Those that were still clutching onto their lives, Ryver put them out of their misery with his knife since he didn't want to be attacked from behind when they finally turned.
Whoosh! He kicked a different zombie off the stairs, the sound of bones and flesh slamming periodically into the iron railing faded as the zombie fell downwards to the first floor.
Finally, just when he was getting tired of moving in a circle through the stairs, he finally reached the first floor.
The shouts and screams of panic seem to have disappeared into thin air. With extreme precision, Ryver flipped his blade to a reverse grip as he arrived at the ground floor. Opening the door slowly, he investigated the situation within the large hall.
Although he didn't count, the amount of zombie feasting on the open bellies of serval humans were simply too much to keep count. Corpses of humans littered the ground while the zombies bent on them ravenously chewing on the warm organs. Two to three zombies fought against each other for their food, gulping and slurping very quickly before there was nothing left.
Ryver eyes narrowed as he spotted three to five zombies in suits. By their belt, they had weapon pouches which most likely contained pistols and magazines.
If only he could get a hold of one, things would be much simpler. Ryver quietly withdrew back to the stair, carefully closing the door behind him. There was no way he would be able to face the few hundreds of zombies alone not with just an ordinary axe at hand. He wasn't stupid.
He climbed up back to the stairs, to the second floor.
There were fewer zombies on this floor. The second floor was divided by the escalators into two parts, and although spacious, they weren't as open as the ground floor due to the countless amounts of computers and the demarcations of the offices all of which had collapsed and destroyed.
Ryver peeked from the position he was bent and counted the amount of zombies there. Within his line of sight, they were thirteen altogether. "Shouldn't be too difficult if I pick them group by group."
He walked silently with his knees bent, walking through the maze-like offices until he was behind a zombie. With a quick jab to the back of its head, the zombie screeched and then fell to the ground.
This sound attracted the other zombies, but Ryver was quick to change position. He bent ran towards another direction and waited, watching as two zombies staggered towards the first zombie's direction.
The two zombies aimless searched around, groaning for the origin of the sound when Ryver appeared behind them, stabbing their brains easily.
Their screeching sound was loud and it attracted five other zombies. Ryver was well aware he would be surrounded if he didn't move.
He withdrew his knife and bent down, hiding his body with the demarcations made within this floor as he swiftly changed position.
Not long after, the five zombies arrived at the spot of the other dead three zombies. They clawed aimlessly in that direction.
In his direction, three zombies had their backs to him. While the other two zombies were facing his direction but their sight had been blocked by the other three zombies.
Ryver immediately moved. His blades shot through the air, stabbing into the brains of the first two zombies while he withdrew the axe he kept behind him, slashing it against the skull of the third zombie.
Whoosh!
