Chapter 22 - Laying Low

"That was so~ exhausting." Key sat on the couch and leaned her back as soon as they arrived at the resting area

"Was that your first time having a long match?" Rio asked and handed her a water bottle which she accepted and opened immediately before drinking it half-empty

"Yes, I thought I am good at games but it's like they proved me wrong by showing off in front of me," she sighed, blowing the hair strands that fall to her face after gulping and speaking

"Showing off in front of you?" Quant asked and Key nodded, her teammates were astonished and amused at the same time due to her gripe because to them, it was the other way around

The non-professional player before today, Keychantel or Kashmiri, managed to weaken the strong combo that Cyber Paw is known for, it was as if she bullied and mocked their years of playing pro with her Foschia, an assassin-type of shinigami that is not used in pro-games.

"And you were personifying your Foschia earlier," Opal couldn't help but shake his head while speaking

"I still don't understand what you mean by that, Opal." Key shook her head while speaking

"Did you smile at them?" Alexei asked and Key looked at him with confusion before nodding

"I have to be sport even though they bullied me so yes, I smiled and now I want to improve my gaming skills to show them I can be a good player too." Key replied and they sighed

"Our Kashmiri is as dangerous as her favorite shinigami," they couldn't help but think at that moment

"Improve for yourself, not them." Their Captain said and Key looked at him for a moment before nodding like an obedient child who had just been scolded

"Why are you acting like an obedient child, huh?" was the mental scolding Key gave herself after nodding her head, and she couldn't help but mentally facepalm at her own admonishment.

"Sheesh, being with that man's look-alike makes me stupid." She couldn't help but mutter at the back of her mind because of the admonishments she's been receiving and giving to herself.

"Let's go, our break is almost over." Their captain, Rasheed, stood up and so did they

"Good luck!" the rest of the team in the resting area cheered as they head out of the room

"Let's win this!" Key smiled at her teammates who just smiled and chuckled, except their captain

"Just make sure you're not the first blood," their captain said and Key frowned for a moment

"And this Mr. Grumpy-pants just had to be such a killjoy," Key thought before smiling again

When they were back on stage, the fans went wild until the banning part began.

{"As you can see, Cyber Paw has learned from the recent game and banned Foschia!"} Elvis Letterman and Gino Morin couldn't hide their entertained reaction

"Looks like Kashmiri won't be playing her favorite Foschia anytime now." El just had to tease the frowning Key who just sighed and waited for the banning part to be over

"If only I didn't use Foschia in the first game…" she lamented in her mind

"Key, ban Evocatrice," Bright said snapping Key out of her reverie

"Okay," she said and banned Evocatrice

At the end of the banning part, Cyber Paw banned Foschia, Blitz, and Vis, three of the shinigami that JLNC had used in the first game, and JLNC banned Evocatrice, Maesta, and Clypeus, which are also three of the shinigami played by Cyber Paw in the first game.

{"As you all can see, both JLNC and Cyber Paw banned the shinigami used in the first game."} Elvis Letterman said and Gino Morning nodded

{"This must be because they don't want the opponent to use the same tactic."} Gino Morin said

"Hugh, choose Chikara."

"Jibe, choose Luxy."

"Figaro, get Intrepidus,"

"Gamma, Pylae,"

The coach told the members of Cyber Paw simultaneously. When it was Domino's turn, Domino just looked at him and he nodded before Domino chose Chasseur.

At the same time, JLNC's coach, Bright, decided with the team which shinigami they will play.

"I'll get Fiore!" Key said with her hand raised

"Okay, and get Sournoise for Quant." Bright gave the go-signal and Key nodded like an obedient child

"Tch, kid," Rasheed muttered and shook his head

"Opal, get Coraje," Bright said and Opal nodded

"Who should I get, Bright?" El asked and Bright looked at his clipboard for a moment before answering

"You can have Luccicare," Bright answered and El nodded

"Bright, the opponent's forward is a Chasseur." Key said and looked at Bright then at their captain

Quant, El, and Opal couldn't help but chuckle because Key's tone and expression are the same as that of a student reporting another student cheating on the exams. Bright noticed this too but he kept himself from laughing and turned to Rasheed.

"Rasheed, take Ausu." Bright said. Rasheed nodded and faced the screen with a straight expression

When the game began, both teams began to roam around the map. Unlike earlier, Key's Fiore was taking the obvious routes, showing up in the top lane and developing herself by beating the minions in the top lane.

After leveling up a level, she grinned and was about to attack when the opponent's off-laner beat her to it.

Figaro used his Intrepidus's Necto, one that Key managed to avoid but immobilized Coraje. She used her Fiore's Tremare against Chikara and Intrepidus, running on what seemed to be her rampage.

Moving too aggressively that Intrepidus couldn't land any damage or immobilizing attacks on her, although, Chikara was able to deal damage on her as she receives the damage for Coraje.

"I was laying low, you know," Key muttered with a hint of affliction

"You did that too, kid." Rasheed said

"But, Captain, what I did in the first game was called helping a teammate, what he did in this game is called –" Key was cut off when Rasheed spoke again

"Getting even, now, focus," Rasheed said and Key stopped talking

When the 15-second immobilization wore off, Coraje dealt enough damage to take close to half of their opponents' blood. Key used her Rubavita and stole Chikara's blood, replenishing hers back to full blood.

This had brought upon the explosion of red smoke in the middle of the stage as the red phrase once again grace the screen;

{FIRST BLOOD}

{"Oomph! I don't know if JLNC's off-laner has something against Cyber Paw's top-laner because once again, he's the first blood and the finishing damage was dealt by the same player."} Elvis Letterman shook his head in amusement because of the turn of events

After beating the opponent's off-laner, Key headed to the middle laner where a one-on-one fight has erupted between the two mid-laners, Key used this opportunity to prey on the minions as El's Luccicare and the opponent's Luxy clashed in the middle of the map, just above the Hydra's Lair.

Just as Key's Fiore leveled up, Luxy had drained all of Luccicare's blood so Fiore and Luxy faced off in the middle lane. Fiore is at an advantage at that moment because she has more blood than the opponent does.
