The early morning rays finally hit the sky, penetrating through the glass window and casting a dazzling golden light over Xander's bewitching face.
His eyes slowly flicker open as he was met by the beautiful sunray which kissed his face, the weather was a lot friendlier than usual and he didn't need anymore signs to know it rained. The weather is just as unpredictable as the city itself.
He let out a soft sigh, last night had been so torturous for him to the point he could barely even remember the whole thing that happened but surprisingly, he felt better this morning, which was unusual.
Wait, he felt better?!!
His eyes widened at the realization, he barely felt the headaches and his temperature was calm which he still found to be completely unbelievable, how did he feel better all of a sudden??
He abruptly sat upright and quickly agnized the fact he was lying on the bed, but if he's lying on the bed, where was…..
He instantly glanced at his little bunny who fell asleep on the couch and a heavy thump at the left side of his chest raced faster than he could ever imagine. Did she take care of him last night??
He got out of bed and took a few steps towards Anxi who had dozed off. She still looked exhausted and worn out and it got Xander really worried, she didn't stay awake all night taking care of him, did she??
He crouched beside her, staring intently at her guileless face, wondering curiously why she would do something like that. He's been alone all his life so this was practically the first time someone really took care of him.
His phone suddenly buzzed at the end table close to the bed, gaining his attention and he moved away from her to go get it, answering the call right after.
"Go straight to the point." He straightforwardly said, the weakness in his tone all gone.
Anxi's tired eyes flickered open at the sound of his voice, her innocent round eyes landed on Xander who stood sideways with a hand in his pocket, answering a phone call. His side view looked so mesmerizing as Anxi feverishly absorbed the estimable angle of his face and the tiny mole underneath his eye just made it worse, shouldn't it be illegal to look this divine? Why did he have to be so physically perfect??
"Schedule all my meetings for today." Xander commented firmly. "Damian will handle matters at the mall so notify him, Mr Adrik will be at Starcrest company so get everyone ready and make no mistakes, I'll be there in the next two to three hours."
Anxi's eyes widened horrifically at that last statement, he's unwell and still plans on heading to work? Isn't today even meant to be Saturday?!! A day of rest?
"No!" She got to her feet, startling Xander who had already disconnected the call and surprisingly met her gaze, when did she wake?
"You can't go." She hurried to his side. "You're still unwell so you should rest." She calmly said to him, he hadn't zipped up his shirt yet and a glimpse of those flawless chest were still visible before her eyes, she averted her gaze immediately making him chuckle softly at her naive act.
She's really not going to come of it.
"Little bunny, you can't stop me from going to work, if I'm not there to handle things, my business will crash."
Anxi ignored the fact she just got called a little bunny and shook her small head in disapproval. "No freaking way! I nursed you back to health and my work can't go in vain."
His brows arched with interest and something tingled inside of him sensing the worry in her tone. "That reminds me,"
He looked over her for a few seconds before speaking, "why did you help me?" He asked and this time, he was making a move towards her and as expected, his little bunny cautiously took a step back.
"I didn't have a choice and besides, I wouldn't want you to die in my hands."
Xander knew he'd get a negative response making a frown display on his handsome face. This little woman seems to be getting more bold these days.
"Then don't worry, I'll probably die at work, you won't be responsible for that."
Anxi shook her head with a sigh at his response, he complains he's not a child but never fails to act like one.
When he was close enough, she tiptoed and touched his forehead with the back of her palm, her little display of affection surprised him as he stared at the hand on his forehead before retracting his gaze back to her.
"Your body temperature has cooled off luckily, why did you leave your room even after Xandria warned you not to?" She asked and he remained quiet, unwilling to answer but since she nursed him all night, he could tell her at least.
"I got bored" He replied flatly, watching her face intently while Anxi only grew confused.
"Just that?"
"Why? You have no idea how bored I was staying in bed for weeks, like that wasn't enough I was forced to wear a hood with panda ears." He definitely wasn't wishing to fall sick again and combed his hair with his fingers.
"You might not realize this but it was for your own good." To be honest, he looked really cute with the panda hoodie on to the point she couldn't resist taking a selfie of him.
"Really? Was taking pictures of me also part of 'my own good'?" He hinted while inching close to his little bunny making her stumble backwards.
He...he knows???
Her cheeks flushed seeing his face so close to hers, he looked so ethereal that she thought she might just die from looking into his steady gaze.
"You're sick!"
"Am I?" His gaze fell on his exposed chest.
"You literally exposed me all in the name of helping me, did you try to take advantage of me?"
Anxi's mouth hung agape at his words, t_ take advantage of him??
"What do you mean?"
"I was down all night but you tried to seize the moment by taking advantage of me, using the opportunity you got to view me didn't you?"
"I didn't do anything, I only unzipped your shirt and I only unzipped it halfway." She argued, trying to defend herself but realized her argument didn't even make as much sense as it did in her head.
Xander only watched her rant on, she has such a small mouth but a very sharp tongue! He hadn't seen her after what happened between them and now she's here, at his home, in his bedroom.
Alone.
Too dangerous!
"And by the way, shouldn't you be thanking me for staying up all night just so I could nurse you back to health? But you went right ahead to accuse me of something that wasn't even my intention."
She was glaring laser beams at him, he never misses an opportunity to annoy her but to say a simple thank you hadn't slipped from his mouth.
"You…"
*BANG!*
Was the loud sound that interrupted their argument as it seemed to have come from downstairs.
They stopped arguing and finally met each other's gaze, confirming if they both heard right.
Xandria did say she'd be coming back this morning, could it be her?
"Is it…"
"Shhh." Xander immediately silenced his little bunny as his expression suddenly changed, he wasn't smiling anymore to Anxi's bafflement and he suddenly clicked his tongue.
"Listen to me." His tone equally changed from being mischievous to a more serious and darker tone and the air around his room went still.
"Stay here and no matter what you hear, don't even think about coming downstairs. In Fact, lock the door once I'm out, am I clear?"
He doesn't seem to be joking around anymore and Anxi, although reluctant, nodded her head obediently and he pulled away from her.
"Good."
He made his way towards the door, reaching for the handle when he suddenly stopped and beckoned the perplexed Anxi over.
She hurried to his side and he met her gaze.
"Lock it once I'm out, as long as you don't hear my voice telling you to open it, don't open it and also if you see the door knob move like someone is trying to open the door, don't open the door and remain quiet."
His words were starting to frighten her a bit, who could be downstairs and why does this person sound dangerous based on how Xander keeps giving her such warnings.
He noticed the hesitant look on her face but right now, he had no time to pet his bunny until he's done handling the issue downstairs.
"Be_be careful." She said, unable to hide her concern and he nodded before stepping out of his room.
Anxi immediately did as he told her, locking it up once he was gone.
Xander could hear the lock click and after confirming she had locked the door, casually made his way downstairs.
He stopped at the upstairs stairway, staring down at the exact thing he had expected to show up at his home, thank goodness he told Anxi to lock the door.
His expression went cold and dangerous like he was going to cause some sort of chaos, letting that domineering side of him take control as his inner demons revealed themselves, his eyes turned crimson red and he rudely uttered.
"What are you doing here?"
