Lady Gisella walked into her room.
Her mood was a little complicated. Although she knew that she was getting old she did not like people pointing it out so outrageously but when Princess Eleanor said those words, for some reason it did not affect her the way it used to.
Lady Gisella did not know why it was so. Was it because the Princess is not from the Empire? She is not someone who Lady Gisella knew, maybe that was the reason there was no feeling of oppression.
Lady Gisella sighed as she entered her room.
'Princess Eleanor is too naive and innocent. Will she be able to survive in the Empire?'
The thoughts revolved around her mind when she was frightened by a sight.
Lady Gisella saw Sir Kit standing at the side facing the large window. Lady Gisella was silent for a few seconds as she had a bad feeling in her heart.
"Is there a reason for the sudden visit?" Lady Gisella managed to say but to her surprise, Sir Kit did not look at her as he continued to gaze outside through the window.
Lady Gisella walked towards Sir Kit as she stood beside him. The difference in their height was evident but Lady Gisella was not someone who was intimidated so easily.
"I heard the Lady went to see Princess Eleanor?" Sir Kit asked but his tone was not good. There was a slight indication of annoyance in it.
"Yes, I wanted to make sure that the Princess agrees to come to the Empire with her own will." Lady Gisella's tone was filled with rightfulness. She knew that she did what needed to be done and there was no reason to hide it.
"I remember telling the Lady that I will handle it." Sir Kit's tone was turning harsh, making Lady Gisella swallow hard. "I never thought that you would go and do something like this on your own."
Although Sir Kit did not look at her, Lady Gisella could still feel the hostility. Although she had experienced Sir Kit behaving in such a manner before, it was never with her.
'Did I make a mistake? Was asking for Princess's confirmation that big of a taboo.'
No matter how hard she tried, Lady Gisella could not understand what she did wrong. They needed to go to the Empire soon and it was important.
'Princess Eleanor had also accepted and it was time for them to leave then why was Sir Kit angry? Was he the one who wanted to leave as soon as possible? What happened suddenly?'
Lady Gisella could not understand what to think anymore. She knew that Sir Kit was angry but she could not figure out why.
Lady Gisella sighed as she looked down, "Maybe I made a mistake, but it worked out in our favor."
Sir Kit laughed, his eyes narrowed as he nodded his head, "Yes, it worked out in our favor."
Lady Gisella's eyes lost focus. She bit her lips as her hands started to sweat. Even though she wasn't saying anything she could feel the change in the aura.
"I had already received confirmation that the Princess will enter the Empire." Sir Kit said in a low voice. His tone was deep, making Lady Gisella shiver a little.
"Till the time the Princess is in the Empire, I will be her escort." Sir Kit continued, "I would do everything that an escort should do. I would appreciate it if the Lady did not object in between."
Lady Gisella's through ran dry. "The Princess is going to stay in the Empire forever…"
But before she could add another sentence Sir Kit looked at her with a sharp gaze making her swallow her remaining words.
"None of the escort knights for the princess will change and I plan to do the same." Sir Kit was determined. His eyes were screaming that he would not accept 'no' for an answer.
Lady Gisella had no other choice as she nodded her head in understanding. She knew that she was in no position to question the man.
Sir Kit was satisfied as he kept looking outside. "I had one thing to confirm."
Lady Gisella's heart was breathing faster. Many unwanted thoughts ran through her mind as she tried to remember what she had done wrong recently.
"I had specifically asked the Lady to not go around and collect the gossip." The sarcasm was evident in Sir Kit's tone, "But it looks like my words have no meaning anymore."
Lady Gisella's eyes widened. Although she remembered their conversation she could not help to dig up more information. It was her line of work and she did it subconsciously.
But Lady Gisella knew it was not an excuse. She was guilty. "I did not go in search of information. I just heard some people talking in the palace and could not help but listen."
"I know." Sir Kit nodded his head. He knew that it was not Lady Gisella's fault but he could not help but blame her.
Lady Gisella's lips curled up as she took a breath of relief. If Sir Kit said those words it meant he was not angry anymore.
"I forgot to inform something to Lady Gisella too, just like the Lady forgot to tell me that we would be leaving early tomorrow morning."
Lady Gisella's eyes widened. It was the words that she had said to the Princess. How did Sir Kit know them, making her surprised?
"I would be protecting the princess throughout the journey and in the Empire. I will be her knight."
Lady Gisella's eyes widened. Being knight of the Princess in the Empire meant that the person should be with the Princess day and night. The safety of the Princess would be his top priority.
Lady Gisella panicked. How could Sir Kit be with the Princess all the time? It was impossible, "Can we assign the Princess some other knight?"
"No." Sir Kit opposed strongly, "She does not trust anyone."
"But my Lord…" Before Lady Gisella's words would be finished Sir Kit looked at her with a warning.
Lady Gisella shut her mouth as she took a step back subconsciously, "We can also assign her a female knight as her maid." Although her voice trembled, she said it with determination.
"No, I promised the Princess that it would be me. And a Knight's promise cannot be broken."
Lady Gisella was at a loss. She could only accept the words of Sir Kit as she nodded her head.
