Chereads / Bride of Thaddeus / Chapter 22 - Puesta De Sol

Chapter 22 - Puesta De Sol

Avyanna and Dana arrived at the resort, it was very lively during the daytime. Tourists are very active and she felt happiness soar to her stomach.

"Let's meet the manager, shall we?" Dana said. Avyanna bowed and followed her slowly.

They entered a small White House, it was an office where the staff are resting. Dana directed her to a small office room where a lady sits.

"This is Jeanne Bauer, she's the manager of this place, and since you now own this, Manager Bauer will be assisting you through."

The manager beamed and bowed at her, "Nice to meet you, madam." she reached her hand out to her for a handshake.

"Now that it's good. What do you think we should rename the resort?" Dana asked, she was leaning her hips against the stile of the chair.

Avyanna thought for a second. She turned around to look outside from the windows and swerved back to face the manager. "What's the most beautiful scenery you could see here?"

The manager then thought for a short while, "The sunset is incredibly amazing."

Avyanna nodded and in that she had decided upon a certain decision. "Then we shall name it Puesta de Sol."

"Puesta del sol?" Jeanne tilted her head, and Dana smirked and giggled softly.

"It's the Spanish term for sunset. If we name it that, the tourist will surely look forward and accept something that proves its new name," she said with a cheerful tone in her voice.

Dana's smile got wider, she approached Avyanna and patted her head, "I knew the day I told you that there's more to you than meets the eye. Keep it up."

She looked back at the manager and smiled, "Take care of her for a while, I'll let you two discuss. I'm heading out for a smoke."

Dana pulled a cigarette off the pocket of her high-waisted jeans. She went out and silence filled the room. Jeanne decided to break the silence afterward. "That's...a fascinating name. I guess we should start creating the new name board and place it up."

Avyanna smiled, she crossed her fingers as anxiety was concerning her inconvenience.

"I hope to work with you, madam," Jeanne said. Trying to revoke the weird atmosphere that covers the office.

Since Avyanna was not good with people, she can't find any answer that would certainly create a vibe. Jeanne noticed that behavior of hers but she was unable to get the sinking silence out of the gutter. She just tapped her fingers on her leg, awkwardly standing.

Dana returned to see the atmosphere all drenched with awkwardness. "Pffft!" she giggled.

"You didn't talk at all, did you?"

Avyanna was silent. She was shy enough to not even move a finger. Like some frozen fish, she was unmoved. "You guys are too much alike. Here, let's just be around the resort, shall we?"

Avyanna looked at Dana and nodded, closely behind them, Jeanne followed. and Dana brought her to some room units and spas around. She estimated it to be a 5-hectare beach resort and found it pretty decent.

"Now that you're going to be here all day, I hope that you take care of this resort whilst me and my brother are away. I know I could trust you." Dana smiled.

Avyanna just nodded, she looked at the area and was relieved. Because of losing the chance to even apply for work because of a marriage contract and the fear of people, she was unable to be employed. Nonetheless, the contract brought her to a door in the business industry. Hoping she could make her proud by this, she excitedly dialed him a call.

It's been 20 minutes since his phone was ringing and Lanxter didn't even bother to pick it up. It was this certain action where Avyanna's name wasn't even registered on his phone that made it a very selfish act for a father.

He was meeting with some of the top businessmen from the country and outside. They were all brought to the company to expect a high future just like how their high expectancy with Thaddeus Studios was fulfilled.

He neglected his duties as a father at that sudden period. Blinded by this even from the start, he can't seem to understand that his daughter was not a toy to play with but a blade to sharpen.

"Yes, Mr. Lang, we assure you that your expectation will be met." he shook hands with the sponsor.

"Do not bring me down," he said and took off with his suitcase.

Lanxter just gave a relieved sigh afterward then another phone call made his device ring. Annoyed, he received the call.

"Stop fucking calling me!" he yelled.

Whatever the reason, he just dropped the phone down without knowing who was on the other end. Avyanna felt very upset. She was excited to tell him the news but it seemed that he wasn't interested at all.

Noticing how she engaged herself once again in the gloom, Dana tapped her shoulders. "Your father?" she asked.

She shook to deny it, even after what he did to her, she's still her father as she envisioned, by blood and by fate he is.

"Don't deny an offender, Avyanna. He offended you as a person and sullied your body with the bruises he cut through."

"He's my father, Dana," she replied, hiding her face away and caressing her arm.

"A father who never acted like one. Don't be a pushover, Avie. Just show him how high up you can go, he'll eventually see the daughter in you." she smiled and left.

The voices of these sweet angels, Dana and Narcester were musical harmonies to her ears. It's filled with the pure intention of uplifting her insecure and unhappy personality.

Sunset shone upon the horizon of the beach as she viewed it. After hours of observing the resort, it was doing well and she was hoping to improve it a little. The sun's sunlight was reflected on the waters of salt during that golden hour. Like how she missed the breeze on the beach at home, she can finally have the same relaxation again.

She was walking barefooted on the sand, it was this soft, pure, white sand that soothed the soles of her feet and relieved herself from the anxiety and all her mind is trying to create. Wearing that off-shoulder dress she seemed very satisfied with the wind's rhythm as the skirt moved accordingly to it.

It was the tunes the oceans played that soothed the war her mind tried to create. The fragility she felt for herself suddenly calmed like the seas. It was just her therapy.

The salty smell of the seawater was enough to calm her down.

She would stay there for more than three years if she could.

The resort was calmed by the tourists, they all ascended the dining area up the floor.  They were eating dinner by early in the morning and they were calmed like the seas. Some even went to their unit and kept quiet for themselves.

Narcester went inside, he saw Dana talking to Jeanne and the other staff, they were drinking but were upset to not see her presence anywhere.

"Where's my wife, Dana? What have you been doing? What if she got lost?" he frantically spoke with a worried yet austere touch of tone on the tip of his tongue.

"Geez! Calm your ass down! She wanted privacy. Tsk. Mr. Wife Obsessed." she groaned.

He eyed her down and scurried to where she told Avyanna would be. He sighed with relief to see her seemingly happy face, looking at the sunset. He adored the beauty that was praised by the sunset's sun rays.

It was even more beautiful, "Avyanna, even the gods would adore your beauty as I do." he whispered under his breath.
