After successfully defeating the Giant Spider Demon Beast in the Enchanted Maple Mist Forest, Zach and Ryuki continued their journey.
"Ryuki, where are we heading to now?" Zach asked his demon pet as soon as they got out of the dark forest.
"Do you want to eat first, Master?" Ryuki consulted him.
"Eat?" Zach blurted out.
He reflexively touched his tummy. He was indeed hungry. However, he didn't know what kind of food he could find in this Asura Land. Was it even edible? He bet he wouldn't even see fresh fruits, fresh meat, and delicious hot-pot here.
"I have a bad feeling about this. I don't want to imagine the food present in this hell. Maybe demons here are eating fresh meat from monster beasts or alive insects," Zach mumbled to himself.
Just thinking about those things, he already lost his appetite. He had just died so his body would still crave for ordinary human food, not demon food.
"Forget it! I will just eat all I want once I return to the human world tomorrow!" Zach said with his dreamy eyes.
He was already imagining the food he wanted to eat again. Now, he's drooling from his imagination. When he was still alive, he never appreciated the delicious food he had eaten on earth. But now, his taste buds began looking for them.
"Master, follow me! Let's go to the Demon Village. We can also find a lodging house there where we can spend the night."
"Demon Village? There is a village here?" Zach asked Ryuki curiously.
"Yes, Master. Demon villages are the places where lots of normal demons are residing. Unlike higher-rank demons, normal demons had to work their asses out and serve those demons above their rank.'
"We can pay them using demon spirit coins in exchange for their services. Demon spirit coins are the form of currency here in Asura Land."
Zach frowned upon hearing that.
"What is the use of money in this hell?"
"Master, demon spirit coin is not ordinary money. It possesses demonic energy that can be used by the demons to strengthen themselves. It is very essential, especially to the lowest rank demon."
"The demon god imposed this currency system in this Asura Land. With his grace, the demon god created lots of demon spirit coins by collecting the demonic energy of the dead demons in this Asura Land."
"Aside from evil points, if a demon completes their quest, they will be rewarded with a certain amount of demon spirit coins based on their current rank and the difficulty level of the quest the demon has accomplished."
Ryuki was patiently explaining things to Zach so that he could understand the demon's way of living in this Asura Land.
"Normal demons prefer to provide services and become traders to the higher rank demons to gain demon spirit coins, rather than fighting and killing demon beasts in the dark forest and dungeons."
"This way they could strengthen themselves without taking a great risk of fighting a demon beast."
Zach nodded his head. It made sense. This was one way of their survival.
"So my question now is… do I have demon spirit coins?"
Ryuki bobbed his head vigorously. "Of course, master! You are promoted to Demon Warrior Rank right away so you have gained 3000 demon spirit coins in your storage. Lilith is keeping your money."
Zach smiled inwardly. Now he understood why those demons hated a jumper like him who was promoted right away and didn't experience being a normal rank demon.
He didn't work much but he already acquired enough demon spirit coins that he could use in this land.
No wonder those five demons were bathing with so much jealousy after knowing he was a jumper.
Upon reaching one demon village, Zach could compare it to a marketplace. Lots of normal demons scattered in the area. There were also shops, restaurants, and lodging houses being managed by the demons.
It was similar to a small town in a human world during an ancient or medieval era where modern technology was not yet developed.
As expected, Zach couldn't see any edible food in the area. He was frustrated by this thought. There's no way he would eat fresh bloody meat without being cooked.
Zach took his time strolling and observing everyone as well as his surroundings in that village. He could hear that demon was talking about the competition in selecting a new Demon King.
Everyone was excited since the portal going to the human world would be open tomorrow. Lots of demons were already preparing for their long journey.
They would be staying in the human world for three months. They had to collect evil points and survive that three months.
Demons were dangerous creatures and very harmful to humans. But demons also had vulnerability and weakness. The human world was also not a safe place for demons.
They could also encounter mishaps in the human world and might lose their lives. Some demons died during their missions and were not able to come back to Asura Land.
After strolling around the village, Ryuki and Zach found a perfect place to rest. He spent 10 demon spirit coins for their accommodation.
It was a room with a bed made of wood and beast fur. Zach laid his tired body on the bed, thinking about his return to the human world tomorrow. Just like others, he was also excited to go there.
Meanwhile, Ryuki fell asleep instantly. He got tired from flying around while acting as a decoy during their fight with the spider beast. The cutting of spider silk thread also drained his energy.
"He sleeps like a baby," Zach softly mumbled as he watched his demon pet, lying beside him.
Zach had been turning and tossing around his bed for several minutes now. He couldn't sleep. At that certain moment, he suddenly remembered something.
"Angelique…" he called her.
Angelique's avatar flashed on the transparent screen.
"Do you need anything?" Angelique asked him.
"Yes! I want to ask you something. I just remembered that in your notification a while ago, I also gained 3000 angelic points."
"I am curious… What is the purpose of those Angelic Points?"
Zach was curious about the Angelic Points he received from defeating the giant spider beast. Though he believed that it was very contradictory for a demon to get some angelic points since he should be focusing on collecting evil points, he assumed that it held some kind of benefits or importance as part of his angelic system.
