"If love can extinguish its own flames when given enough time, why would I want enough time?" the pirate king said with a bitterly somber tone in his voice. "Why should I want that? Why would I crave the falling out, the boredom, the death of the spark that ignites our sheets? Why would I want a divorce? Do you know what that means? An eternity as a divorced man? Why? What is so tempting in that? Tell me, do you, too, want to become a bitter and loveless old hag? My life has been long enough as it is now. I do not want to extend it so that I will see everything I care about get drained from this world."
