The abominable creature was shrinking. All liquid disappeared from its body because the temperature was simply so high - everything got vaporized in a matter of seconds. There were roughly two thirds left of the original mass of the thing. Of course, it was awfully hard to imagine anything of that magnitude and then do any basic math with its ludicrous measurements.
