"You need to touch him," Daniel said. "Touching him will send him back to where he came from. Do it!"
Mariana didn't need to hear that twice. Although Dars made an attempt to run with her, Mariana's new, awakened body was faster. She sprang towards him like a cat or a fox.
She put her hand on his face. For a moment, she thought she would get bitten, but then Dars started to scream.
So, he had been the actual source of the scream.
He was shriveling up like someone suffering from old age, although this was a vastly faster process. His rapid deterioration left Mariana holding a skull covered in skin that was so brittle that it became black powder when she squeezed it.
"Ew," she said. "That's disgusting."
"Angels don't say ew," Daniel said and got up, clutching his wounded left leg.
It didn't seem like there was any damage done to his arteries, but it was still a wound, it needed to be dealt with.
