Alex: The year was 2004, and a 15 year old me stood at Navy Pier, waiting for a friend of mine. I heard a giggle. I looked over my shoulder for the source. Nothing caught my eye, so I averted my eyes back to Lake Michigan hitting the side of the Pier. Then I heard it again. I flicked my head back around to see. This time I saw her.
A beautiful girl, her blonde curls rolling down her back. Shorts exposing her long toned legs. Her beauty seemed to radiate.
She stood in a group of friends, trying on stupid looking, cheap sunglasses with her friends at one of the little tourist shops along the pier. She pulled her pair off, her beautiful green eyes meeting mine for the first time. I felt weak in my knees.
"Hey guys, give me a minute," she said, her eyes not parting from mine. She walked towards me.
"Hi," she said once she reached me. Her body language read as confused about me. I'm sure mine was the same. "Is there a reason you were staring at me?" she asked finally, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"Sorry," I said, awkwardly blushing.
"It's fine," she said with a smile, "What's your name?"
"Alex," I said, "Alex Silver."
"Right," she said, "You and your brothers are kind of local celebrities."
"So you've heard of us?" I asked, mentally kicking myself for how awkward I was being. She giggled.
"You're shyer than I expected," she admitted, "For a guy who likes singing on stage I would have thought you'd be a little more, I don't know, out there?"
Finally I caught myself a break. "Sorry," I said, instantly sounding more confident, "Beautiful girls like you throw me off my game."
Now it was her turn to blush. "Smooth," she said though a giggle.
"You know," I said, sliding a little closer to her, "You never told me your name."
"Cassandra," she said, "However my friends call me Cass."
"What exactly should I call you?" I asked, raising one eyebrow.
She gave me a devilish little smile, "Cass."
"So we're friends?" I asked, returning her little smile.
"Guess you'll just have to wait and find out Alex Silver," she said. I felt my heart stop for a moment.
"Are we close enough I could just happen to get your number?" I asked, "Or do I have to stalk you around the pier some more?"
She laughed, turning into the most beautiful thing I had ever seen in an instant. "Do you have a pen?" she asked.
I patted my pockets, coming up with a pen. I handed in to her, and she took it, also grabbing my hand. I felt as if she had shocked me the first time she touched me. She wrote down her number on my palm.
"I'll be waiting," she said, starting towards her friends. In that moment, all I wanted to do was call her.
