"Do you mind if I stay here for a ride?"
"Not at all."
Of course, now I had to fetch a ride. Bringing out my new cell phone, I debated on who to call. Cody would be the perfect choice, but he dwelled far south of the bookstore and I was north.
He would already be on his route to the dance class, and coming up here would exclusively confirm we were both late. I wanted someone who lived close by, but I did not know anybody excluding…well, Gabriel stayed in the University District.
That was not too distant from Lake City. The uncertain part was whether he was really at his home or still in Queen Anne.
Taking the swoop, I phoned his cell.
"Hello?"
"It is Katharina. Where are you at?"
"Um, home…"
"Great. Would you mind offering me a drive?"
Fifteen minutes later, Gabriel reached at Erik's.
