Alric had always considered Aodhan to have a small, slender frame. The coma had consumed most, if not all, energy reserves the Fae ever had, reducing him to mere skin and bones. But he was alive. His grey eyes sparkled with determination. His frail body mustered the widest grin when he saw Alric in the door frame.
"Hey!"
Surprisingly, his voice sounded like always, meek but brimming with a thirst for action.
Alric sighed in relief. For a moment, the angel hesitated to go in. Fiera gently nudged him on his back. Irritated, he turned around, but she merely winked at him and walked away with Gwen. Soon the two were lost in conversation, leaving Alric some privacy to reconnect with his old friend.
"Welcome back, Pixie. How are you feeling?"
"Could be better, but could be worse." Aodhan pointed at the dozens of tubes and monitoring cables all over him. "Though I'm looking forward to getting rid of all these annoying pieces."
Alric chuckled. "I bet."
