Chapter 36 - The accidental meeting.

Munah came out of the car and helped her down after which he collected his permit from the securities and together both of them walked to the entrance of the popular continental restaurant and bar. Adah was excited as they entered and opted for the executive table. They found one close to the window surrounded by flowers and as they tried to settle down a rough young man who probably was in his middle thirties shouted at them to stop and look elsewhere for that particular table is already taken. Munah saw no evidence to that effect and entered the space and Adah followed. He got there and sat down and the same did Adah. The man that has yelled at them came up to them and in his hurry almost shoved Adah who was unsuspecting of his advance. The man walked straight to Munah and almost hit him had it not been that he defended his coming hands. He brought up the other this time to slap him which he also defended and in a flash his hands came on the man who was caught badly on his chin. Adah gasped but before any other attack from both men, the securities had shown up. It was now that Adah recognized his face, it was Bami! At that same moment, he turned to look at her and he was short of words and in anger made to reach out to her. Munah tore himself from the grip of the men holding him and in good time, caught Adah by his side while he gazed at him menacingly. Bami stopped at that instant on seeing the arriving cops. Munah could see that Adah is not only angry but embarrassed and this is not a sight he wanted to see. The cops came and calm the nerves and spoke to both men who tried to explain the situation. Munah was still stating his case when the man shouted out in anger and clenched his fist as if to hit one of the cops.

"Adah... so you have been around all this while? Good to see you again spoilt little brat. Did you ask your bodyguard to hit me? So you now have nerves because your father is Mr. Denson?" He yelled out smiling wickedly at her while disdain was written on Adah's face.

"You are a shame Bami and a loser you will remain!" Adah fired back looking irritated. sending the crowd gathering and slightly increasing and Bami trying to make a scene, Munah thanked the cops for their intervention and accepted their invitation to their office before he took Adah out of the place. They entered the car and Adah started crying confusedly looking at Munah as the tears lower down. As she let down the tears she noticed that Munah is angry. She was crying because that is only how she knows to express her anger. She feels that she has disappointed the love of her life and is ashamed of herself. He allowed her to cry and started the car. He turned expertly and drove towards the gate, he gave them the permit and negotiated towards his right before entering fully into the road.

"Please take me back home..." Adah said quite exasperated at the turn of events.

"No, we are going to palm springs. I promised to take you out and that is what I still intend to do no matter what?" Munah said while Adah said nothing as she clasped her beautiful body to the seat of the car. He drove to palm springs and entered the cozy Spanish restaurant. He came down from the car and helped her to come down the car, and together they walked to the restaurant. He found a table quite hidden from the lights and they went for it and settled down for the first time Adah felt relaxed but feared that she may have lost all appetite for food. They both ordered the paella and a bottle of don Paloma. Munah looked at her and smiled for the first time which seem to reassure her spirit. She smiled back as he started a discussion.

"I will prepare the highlights for tomorrow's meeting for you to go through so that we do not forget anything." He started with his eyes fully on her.

"That will be sweet of you but I am sorry I did not tell you, the banks agreed to fund the whole project and have made and instructed Caterpillar to look into our orders and make the supplies," Adah said as if confused. Munah reassured her with a smile. "Then tomorrow, we will visit the site of the construction company and the property on which we will commence our project," Munah said quickly as Adah simply nodded as they allowed the food to be served. the waitress spoke some Spanish to Adah who replied in Spanish too and they exchanged greetings after that. Munah smiled deeply for her Spanish is very good. They quickly went for their food and discussed as they planned out what they want to achieve at the meeting. Adah yearned for a tonic drink that was ordered, the drink was served and it was then that she started enjoying her evening. The episode that happened earlier began to fade off as she looked at him. He can easily make her laugh and she has wondered why he is not a stand-up comedian. The little shenanigan that arose at the continental revealed that Munah knows a lot about martial arts. The speed at which he caught Bami was like lightning. She has an average knowledge but he is more than an average learner of the act. She wondered why he had not told her but decided to ask as they drank from their glass.

"Tell me about your knowledge of karate," Adah asked interestingly.

"I am a black belt holder. Though I may not look it that is the truth, my love of martial arts started when I joined a local club and I have grown to love it. I am thinking one day that I will be a sponsor of major championships" Munah said with passion.

"May God help me not to get you angry..." Adah joked with a laugh.

"No... you are different and people in the sport do not just go about fighting and making trouble. I know that you have a good knowledge of the sport and all it stands for. But you were trained just to use it for protection. I was trained the hard way and in the street before being professionally trained and represented my college winning five gold medals. one of them is on you, my love." He said and smiled at her. Adah looked at the ring on her finger and looked back at him quite short of words.

"Thank you for sharing this with me and thank you for finding me worthy of this honor to be part of your life," Adah said softly quite moved to tears. She knows how difficult the sport is and for him to have gone to the pinnacle of it is greatly remarkable. They discussed other things, especially their new project. They also discussed their love for each other and renewed their dedication to themselves.

As they drove to Creek Island that night, Munah made it a point of duty to stop at the divisional headquarters of the Police. They came down and entered the huge building which is a three-story building with a lot of space. The entire place is not different from most police offices and the never-ending activities that cops are known for in maintaining law and order. Munah explained himself at the front desk and was directed to the appropriate office. They entered the office and were a little shocked to see Bami there. Munah and Adah waited patiently for the female officer to finish with him and another female that came along with him. Adah held Munah to herself as they waited on the sofa in the office and discussed with him in her usual soft voice.

After about fifteen minutes of waiting, Munah and Adah were called and the officer introduced herself. She was the officer that was on duty at the continental. They both introduced themselves before Munah was asked to make an explanation of the event that took place. He did and without mincing words introduced Adah as his fiancee. He finished and the officer asked him some questions which led to the revelation of who Adah is. Both Munah and Adah later got to know that the lady with Bami is his wife. They resolved their differences with Bami and asked him to write a letter of apology to the restaurant because he was blamed for starting the fracas. He accepted reluctantly, refused to shake the officer's hand, and stormed out of the office. His wife was the one that did apologize first to the officer and Adah, Adah said nothing as the lady departed from the office. They thanked the officer before Munah struck up a discussion with her on wanting a police outpost close to a facility. He was directed on what to do and they with the help of the female officer scheduled a meeting to that effect. They left the divisional headquarters and drove home. Adah was shocked at the revelation of Bami who had now been a married man. She wondered how the wife may be coping with such an egoistic and arrogant fellow and feared for the poor woman. Munah knows that Bami was the one that almost drove Adah into a state of depression, he wondered what led Adah to such a fellow and forced the thought out of his system as he felt deeply what she went through in his hands. Adah remained quiet all through the drive to Creek Island and when the gate opened on its own accord and Munah parked the car, she got down and waited for him so that they can go in together. They reached the room and refreshed before Adah went straight to bed with her computer. She read some emails, replied to some, and checked the network to see how the news of the reshuffle is heating up. She read most of the comments from the staff affected and took down some notes. When she finished she looked at the gold ring on her finger and played with it now knowing that it was a symbol of sweat, blood, and hard work from Munah and indeed that is what he represents but he meant more than that to her. He is her life!
