This was a disaster!
One of my worst nightmares has come to life and there was nobody to save me.
I couldn't even fight my way out of this mess because I was outnumbered. How could everything be so unfair?
...
I was mercilessly dragged towards the stupid concert hall by Jisoo and her sister. They pulled me from both of my arms and kept a very strong hold on me. Was I actually that weak? It was embarrassingly true yet I would never admit it.
"Urggg let me go! I'm very much capable of walking alone!" I protested while struggling to break free from their hands.
"Okay fine then. But don't try to run away. We'll just catch you and it'll only be worse," Eunbi: Jisoo's sister, said while grinning at me. They both shared the same bossiness and the same brain cell.
"Would you guys please just let me go!" I yelled.
Because of my constant retorts, they finally released me.
I jumped with joy and laughed.
"You guys are so weird. It's like you were holding me captive or something. But anyway, can't we just go home?!"
I tried to show them my charming innocent smile but they didn't fall for it. So instead, I had to follow them to this idiotic concert too. It was not because I'm one of those die-hard fans of a dumb idol, but my best friend wanted me to. And she was the most terrifying person I knew. If things didn't go her way, your life would be a living hell. So in the end, I had to agree to every suggestion whether it be good or bad.
I sighed for the 100th time and dragged my body towards my seat. Our seats were located in the center part of the hall. We were a little far away from the stage because the concert hall was insanely huge. It was a gigantic arena and every inch of it was colored by green lightsticks. Maybe green was the color of this particular fandom.
While I was curiously exploring the emerald ocean of lightsticks, a staff member came up to me and asked my name.
"My name is Bae Yunseo. Why did you ask?" I asked worriedly.
"Bae Yunseo. Wow, you even have a very beautiful name. You are a very lucky person indeed. Can I put this wristband onto your wrist sir?" the staff member asked with a smile.
"Sure but I wouldn't say that being here is actually lucky," I replied before letting him take my hand. He tied the wristband around my wrist and walked away after giving me a bow.
After examining the pretty wristband, I gloomily stayed silent as Jisoo and Eunbi sat on their seats. They took out their green lightsticks and waved them in my face. "Look at this Yunseo! Aren't they so pretty?" Eunbi beamed annoyingly.
"Um yeah. Very artistic. And while you guys are occupied with your lightsticks and the concert, I'm planning on taking a little nap," I said enthusiastically. But before they could yell at me, the lights of the stage went out.
After a few seconds, there was a dazzling haze of smoke around the stage with red lights coming from somewhere above that shined through the platform. Then a loud hip-hop song started to play. It was a remix of Finesse and Versace on the floor by Bruno Mars. Seven individuals appeared on the stage and someone in the middle caught my eyes as he turned around to face the audience. He wore all black clothes, black shoes, and a black Panama hat. So this was the idol singer everybody was so mad about.
He was pretty handsome. That, I had to say. Although I couldn't see him up close, all I could think about while looking at his dance was that everything about him was mesmerizing.
The idol has a perfect body, a cool aura, and amazing dance moves. He danced flawlessly with his backup dancers. I mean I didn't know anything about dancing but the guy obviously has some swag and hype.
All the people were drugged by his movements. High pitched squeals of the girls rose up in a way that could make anyone's ears completely deaf. The girls even fixed up their makeup from time to time while waving their lightsticks, posters, banners, and other materials that I didn't even know existed.
I didn't really get it. Why waste your time on a person who doesn't even know that you exist in this world? This person doesn't even appreciate what you've done for him right? It's useless.
Girls being so obsessed was not the right scene for me to see. Even Jisoo and Eunbi were so entranced with the dancing guy.
I, on the other hand, decided to put on my headphones and listen to some old calming piano music. And speaking of music, I couldn't relate to any of the songs the guy up on the stage was singing and dancing to. Who cares anyway? I got my ears covered and my eyes were slowly drifting away into a deep sleep. I could sleep anywhere and in any position. So falling asleep in the middle of a concert wasn't a difficult thing to do. And just like that, I fell asleep like a baby sleeping through a horrifying storm.
_________
"Yunseo? Yunseo? Wake up! Come on! Quickly wake up!" somebody shook my body and yelled into my ears. I opened my eyes and looked around. Most of the girls were crying and screaming in despair. What was their problem? They had no pride and behaved like a bunch of crazy people. Their weird behavior proved that the concert was finally over.
I removed my headphones and glanced at Jisoo who was sitting beside me. She was smiling widely and tears were rolling down her cheeks. "Oh my gosh Yunseo! You are so so lucky! I'm so proud to be your best friend!" Jisoo hugged me tightly and laughed.
"Wait wait. What happened? Why are you acting so strange?" I asked curiously.
As if to answer my doubts, two bodyguards appeared in front of me and clapped their hands. Why were two bulky bodyguards standing in front of me? Did I do something wrong? I am pretty sure that I was sleeping throughout the entire concert.
"Mr. Yunseo. We need you to come with us. You were selected as the VIP fan of today's concert. You get to meet Lee Rowoon backstage and even talk with him. So please be quick sir. We need to usher you backstage before any sort of commotion starts to happen," the taller bodyguard said and offered me his hand to stand up.
VIP fan? Meeting Lee Rowoon? What the heck!
"Wait WHAT!!! Are you kidding me? This is a joke, right? I'm not a VIP fan. I'm so sorry but I think you have a small misunderstanding here." Yup, that's right. This gotta be a mistake. Calm down Yunseo...everything will be alright.
"No sir. You see that wristband you're wearing? It's not an ordinary wristband. It has a star with the word 'SPECIAL' printed over it. You were selected by the inner management as the lucky fan of today's concert. Please don't cause any more trouble and come with us. You already have the proof," the bodyguard was becoming grumpier and he even scowled at me.
I examined my wristband and he really was telling the truth. I thought it was normal to have a star and the word 'SPECIAL' on it. So that explains why the staff member said I was so lucky. Lucky my ass.
"I'm not going. I'm a boy! Why couldn't it be a girl! Choose someone else," I said angrily.
"We can't do that sir. It's against the policy. Come with us or we will drag you there."
Why does everybody try to drag me as they please?! I was not a paper doll!
"Please Yunseo! Please go! You can even ask for an autograph. Rowoon never gives autographs but you can try and ask him for one. Do this for me: your best friend. If you love me please fulfill this wish. I won't ask you anything more. You will do this for me if you truly love me," Jisoo was crying and wailing. I actually felt very sympathetic towards her. She really wanted an autograph and she was my best friend. Besides, it was a piece of cake. I only had to meet this idol dude and ask for a small favor. It would only take a few minutes.
"Okay fine. I'll do it...for you," I said.
"OHHHH! You're the best bestie! I love you!" Jisoo hugged me again. Even Eunbi was jumping and clapping her hands joyously.
Piece of cake. I mean nothing scary will happen. I just had to get an autograph and I'll be out of here in no time. But why did my heart beat so fast as if it sensed that I was in danger? And why did it feel like I was walking towards the doors of hell?
