Today is a new day, he didn't have to dwell on yesterday's events, but he did. Yesterday was like any other day he and Ara, his sister, had woken up in their usual corner of the alley It always amazed him how the races could come together to build the church, lord's palace, and even houses of his small town, yet at the same time treat him like garbage because he was half elf and half human. The church where the priests and holy sisters would give out food every week, was beautiful. The church had a main hall that had cylindrical pillars engraved with holy runes of both elven and human make, spiraling from the base to the top at the entryway, leading to the main hall where there were pews where the people would sit during worship of the lord of life. At the four corners of the church's main hall there were towers of cilondrical shape peaking with what looked like rain drops. As he and Ara entered the main hall of the church he admired the room, there was a wall on either side lined with stained glass and tapestries depicting the creation of the races on the left were the dwarves, humans and gnomes. On the right side of the time were the elven races such as high elves, moon elves, dark elves, snow elves and blood elves. At the other end of the hall, across from the entrance was a tapestry depicting the unification of the races against the Magnum Arcanus, a group of high elves who persued power above all things and believed the other races, even elves, were inferior and had started a war against the world. "Hello Ara, are you and your brother here for the food?" He looked over and saw it was Sister Elise, the holy sister they usually got their weekly bread from speaking. she was an elderly high elf, he couldn't imagine how old she was, elves had a long lifespan, the average human could live between 75 to 100 years, elves usually 750 to 1,000 years and dwarves 1500 to 5,000 years, gnomes are unknown because when the Magnum Arcanus attached the other races a few centuries ago it is believed the gnomes went extinct, though some say they lived as long as dwarves. Sister Elise was kind and had a good soul she is the one who thought both him and Ara how to read and introduced Ara to Vanera, a wood elf ranger so Ara could train as a scout and join the Adventurers Association. When he had asked Elise why she had a human name instead of an elven name she said it was because she was a holy sister not an elf. "Yes Sister Elise we were hoping you might have a bit more to spare this week, last week someone stole my brother's share and he had to go three days without while I trained with Master Vanera." said Ara, "Please Sister Elise today is my eleventh birthday so if you could spare even a little more this week I would appreciate it." He asked with a wide grin showing his broken teeth. "Those rich people keep thinking I stole it and beat me so they can take my share." he added shyly. "Well since it is your birthday I suppose we can spare an extra helping for you." Sister Elise said handing three loaves of bread to Ara. "When are you going to get a name little one? Have you picked one you like yet?" Sister Elise asked patting him on his head."I don't know yet, but I was thinking Aron like the hero in the tails that killed a hundred elves from Magnum Arcanus." He replied. "Thank you again Sister Elise this means so much to us, after I join the guild tomorrow and earn enough I am hoping to buy him a name." Ara said with a proud grin. "I hope you do, everyone deserves a name, and please take care Ara, and you little one don't let mean people take your food anymore, next time they try you just run streight here and I will protect you." Sister Elise said before waving goodbye. as they left the church he noticed his sister walking ahead of him, she was 5'9", tall for a girl but not concidered a giant, was well endowed with both her bust and flank, had smooth skin that was tanned white, long streight, dark brown hair, and the tips of her ears were sticking out from her hair, she turned and asked "What are you waiting for let's go." with a warm smile that extended to her deep red eyes. Some would say she was the perfect blending of elf and human. He often wondered if they were really related, he was a short 4'11" skinny, had mangled light brown hair, green eyes and his ears were more pointed than his sister's, his being like spears where hers were mildly rounded at the elven tips. after they left the church they went to the alley they called home, Ara said "Try not to get into more trouble I am going to train with Master Vanera so I can join the Association tomorrow." then she gave him the three loaves of bread and left. The alley was narrow, barely enough room for him and Ara to walk side by side, only because he was under fed. He put the loaves at the back of their makeshift home which was some old potato sacks roughly stiched together into a tarp and held up with sticks as a lean-to.
