Chapter 7 - Dungeon

The boy awoke to the sound of loud knocking, as he approached the door he heard muffled shouting from the other side of the door. When he opened the door Borus and his party were standing there with his party, and seemed to be yelling at Grook. after he noticed the door open Borus said "See Grook I told you we wouldn't have to blast the door off the hinges." "You. No. Fun." Grook replied. "Are you ready to go yet" Borus asked. "Just let me grab my bag real quick" replied the boy. As the boy turned around he walked face first into Ara's vest. "Who are they" asked Ara with a yawn, "my party" he replied. "Okay, I am going back to bed, I'll look around some more for a party later" Ara said as she turned around and went back to her bed to sleep. After looking around for a few minutes the boy finally found his bag next to the bath tub. Grabbing his bag he walked back across the room and closed the door behind him joining his party on the balcony of the inn. "Who that" asked Grook, "Ara, she's my sister" replied the boy. "Cute. Want mate?" Grook responded, "I don't know, you will have to ask her after the mission." Answered the boy before walking away to go downstairs. As the party started walking down the street, Borus said "The dungeon is in some old elven ruins in the Blood Woods. The dungeon is about a half an hour walk from the edge of town. Undead have been spotted there but they seem to all be weak skeletons with clubs. We are just going to scout the place to see if it is a real dungeon or if it is a den for necromancers but with the number of undead spotted we think it is a dungeon. We just need to be sure before asking a more experienced team to clear it." As the party reached the edge of town the boy asked; "so if this is just a den of necromancers what will we do?" "We will ask them to find a place further away from town to practice their arts, even though not many people like necromancy it isn't illegal. So if this is. just necromancers we will just ask them to leave them report to the town guard." Borus said before entering the woods. As they entered the woods Amon said "Hey, Porter, do you know why they call this place the Blood Woods?" "No" the boy replied "It is because this place used to be the home of Blood Elves, nasty cannibalistic creatures, they are still around, but only because the filthy elven council won't let us hunt them to extinction" Amon said. "Enough of your racial crap Amon!" shouted Borus. About 20 minutes of walking the party found the ruins of an old tower similar to the ones at the corners of the church but all rundown. as they approached the ruined tower they heard the creaking of bones. "Careful, even though they are just skeletons if you don't smash their skulls they will just regenerate, it's the only way to rid an undead of their vengeful spirit." Amon whispered to the boy. Borus went first into the tower through what used to be it's doorway while Amon went around to find a way in through the crumbling walls. Grook and Hammond stayed back with the porter. A few seconds later the boy heard bones smashing and Borus stepped back out saying; "The entry is clear, Porter you are with me, Amon is already in here, Grook and Hammond will take care of us from a distance, just keep is in your line of sight, okay guys?" After Borus finished speaking Grook and Hammond nodded then followed the boy went into the tower. As they entered the tower they came into a circular room with a diameter of about 30', to the left of the entryway at the base of the wall was a rectangular hole about 5' long by 3' wide, at the end of the hole away from the door were steps leading down, the rest of the room was empty with holes riddled on the walls looking as though the tower could collapse at any moment. Along the wall from the right of the doorway to the side opposite the doorway was broken rusty iron, that likely held a stairway leading to the upper floors that could only be seen through another rectangular hole in the ceiling. The hole in the ceiling of the same size as the one in the floor located in at the far end of the room from the door. "Okay everyone is here, let's go down, Aron you take the lead, Porter and I will follow. Grook, Hammond keep back about ten steps on the stairs" Borus said, Almond then proceeded down the steps followed by the rest of the party as Borus commanded. As the party reached the next floor they could see that it was mostly destroyed. A moment later skeletal arms reached from the wall grabbing Borus. Borus grabbed his mace from his hip and struck the wall as the skeleton was emerging. "Bad news this is a real dungeon. We need to be careful on the way back up and report back to the Association" said Borus, as he turned back to face the stairs. At that moment ten new skeletons emerged wearing leather armour. Five of the skeletons were wielding bows, the others were carrying human femurs as clubs. "Shit, there are skeleton archers, Hammond, Grook, take the archers while Amon and I take the ones with clubs, Porter if you can use that sword do it!" Commanded Borus. As Hammond was drawing his bow a arrow struck his right shoulder nearly causing him to drop his arrow, Grook cast a spell that caused an explosion in the wall next to the skeleton archers as Hammond's arrow found it's mark. Hammond's arrow struck a skeleton Archer in it's left eye socket of a skeleton archer a split second before the explosion reduced him and his friends to dust. During this time Borus was fighting three of the skeletons with clubs as Amon had already killed the other two. Borus smashed two of the skeletons skulls with an arched horizontal strike. As Borus smashed the skull of the last skeleton the boy was staying back because he was still untrained with his weapon. A moment later hundreds of skeletal arms started emerging from the walls and floor. "Quickly let's get upstairs and get out of here" Hammond shouted. "Do it. Now!" Borus commanded the party as he started running up the stairs. The rest of the party followed, while Borus lead, he was followed by Grook, then Hammond, then Amon with the porter at the back. When they were about half way up, Amon quickly turned around and said, "We don't need a useless half breed" as he kicked the boy down to the floor below. As the boy fell the last thing he saw was Amon's head flying backwards followed by his body. The last thing the boy heard before he hit the ground was Borus shouting "I told you that was enough racial bullshit!"
