Chapter 3 - The Adventurers Association

Before they left Ara suggested he bring the bread with them. He made sure to grab the bread and stow it in a spare potato sack they had. As they walked down the alley Ara said "Of things go well we won't have to sleep in the muck anymore, I could get us a room with real beds." he responded "That would be nice but if they won't let us stay together I could always come back." They proceeded to the entrance of the alley and turned left walking past the houses lining the side road they were on. As they approached the main street they quickly crossed the road and turned right down the main street, as they walked along he admired the quiet of morning still being able to see because of the light peeking up from the west, and still too early for the shops to open. They made their way down the street for four blocks and stopped in front of a large building about twice the size of the church, the ground floor was cobbled together with stone and the first floor was walled with planks with the main doorway hosting large oak twin doors and the first floor had two windows on either side of the door. Above the door, between the windows were golden letters saying "Adventurers Association Chap 105". This was the local branch of the Adventurers Association, where Ara would test to be an Adventurer. Not everyone could be an Adventurer, for they delt with the most dangerous jobs in the region such as hunting, culling monster tribes, and investigating dimensional fissures. Dimensional fissures we're uncommon enough, they would appear every few years, a new one would appear as another would fade away or get destroyed. Dimensional fissures usually, almost always occured in subterranean caves and underground structures like ruins or castles as "Dungeons", but some fissures have been known to appear above ground in the open as "Rifts". Dungeons always spawn monsters from the soil of the cave, such as the ceiling, walls and floor with no visible vortex, where Rifts always have a visible vortex and monsters spawn directly from said vortex. Due to the dangers of hunting beasts, monsters, and demonic beasts only those who are physically and psychology fit can become Adventurers. There are different classes of Adventurers, F rank people are the most common and cannot become Adventurers but can be Porters, E rank is the lowest class of Adventurers and are only able to handle beast hunting they are the Scout, Rogue, Warrior, and Scholar classes. D rank Adventurers are the ones who usually cull monster tribes as well as hunt beasts, they are the Hunter, Archer, Assassin, Thief, Knight, Barbarian, Mage and Witch/Wizard classes, and is the lowest ranking to be considered by other Adventurers as "Real Adventurers". C rank Adventurers are the lowest ranked to be able to enter a dungeon or go within 100 yards of a rift, they are the Ranger, Marksman, Phantom, Master Thief, Templar, Pugilist, Magus and Sorcerer classes. B rank Adventurers are the lowest ranking ones who have free choice of their missions and can hunt demonic beasts they are the Specialist I, Sniper I, Specter, Shadow, Paladin, Martial Artist, High Magus and Necromancer classes. A rank Adventurers are the lowest rank to accept solo missions and are the Specialist II, Sniper II, Ghost, Shadow II, Executioner, Martial Arts Master I, Arch Magus and Peak Necromancer classes. S rank Adventurers are the elite who can take any mission and are known to destroy fissures Specialist III, Sniper III, Expert Ghost, Shadow Master, God of War, Martial Arts master II, Grand Magus and Necro-Mage classes. SS and M rank Adventurers are unknown as there was only ever one SS rank person known to have existed and not much is known about them, the only thing known about M rank is that it is a rank that exists in the ranking database with no entries. As he and Ara entered through the doors they could see that the first floor resembled an in facing balcony with only one room at the top of the stares opposite the entrance that was the Association Administrator's office, the rest of the first floor had tables and Charles where Adventurers we're eating, the ground floor had a line of counters and clerks on the right and doors to various rooms on the left. As they walked to the first counter they noticed it had a sigh just below the window saying "Registration" and had no line. When they got to the counter the clerk, a girl just older than Ara said "Welcome to the Adventurers Association, How may I help you this morning?" in a polite, professional tone with a slight smile that didn't extend to her eyes, she had bleach blonde hair and emerald eyes, she was not very big in the bust and had an overall human appearance, wearing brown leather pants, brown leather boots, a white cotton shirt and a green apron."I am here to register as an Adventurer and find out my rank." Ara replied. "What class are you wanting to register as and what about him?" Asked the clerk pointing at Ara's brother. "I was trained with the bow as a scout and he is my brother, I brought him along because he has no where else to go" replied Ara. "Well we can test your rank here and fill out the form, but he needs to test as well" said the clerk. "No problem but why does he need to test too?" asked Ara. "Because only registered Adventurers and those testing to register are permitted in the building" replied the clerk looking at him with mild disgust in her eyes.
