I paced back and forth in my room, biting the tip of my nail.
"What should I do?" I muttered to myself.
I didn't hear Uncle Stan, but I felt his presence as I turned to find him leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed and smirking.
"Well, my lovely goddaughter, is there something you wanted to say that you don't want your parents or anybody else to know?"
I swallowed hard.
"Whatever do you mean, Uncle?" I say with a nervous voice as I go over to sit on my bed. "I'm not hiding something. Why would I?"
"You are lying, my sweet Ria." He pulls on a smirk.
I avoid eye contact and look the other way not to give him a hint that I'm lying.
"You mentioned a portal?"
My heart was racing as he stood in front of me. I squeezed my legs and brushed my hand against my pants, wiping away the sweat.
