Chapter 2 - Cooking with Albert

"Hey, Mr... what's your name again son? Well, anyways you're free to go"-???

Men with scars on their faces from getting whipped with electrical wires were glaring at a man with a similarly scarred body but his body was hung on a meat hook, as well as a few other people of all ages.

His eyes were dead as the guards took him off the hook and dragged him through the halls to the door. As he got closer and closer and neared the entrance of the station he heard words that he was scared of.

"The People want the Regime to change!"-Crowd

People marched and yelled these words out as he was tossed outside by the guards and the people surrounding him.

"Habibi are you alright?!"

"Gosh, what have they done to him!"

"We must get him to the hospital quick!"

His vision faded to black as he woke up with cold sweat on his back, seemingly grasping at the spots where he was scarred...

He looked around before he remembered where he was, he was not on earth anymore, they could not harm him anymore.

Getting up from his bed he wore overalls with a yellow shirt and put on his backpack and vacuum gun. Going outside he looked at the Coop only to realize the Hen Hen had laid eggs and given birth to little chickadoos. He grabbed one and went inside the home.

"I'll name you...nugget"-Albert

"Chirp"-Nugget

"Hey, he likes it!"-Albert

Putting nugget on his head he went outside and scoured the free range for plorts. To his surprise, he managed to find approximately 15 pink plorts and 20 rock plorts. Looking at the port market he saw pink plorts were at a price of 10 and rock plorts were at a price of 22 so calculating his profits he found he would acquire 590 newbucks(Currency of slime rancher) which was twice the price of a corral.

As you can expect he immediately bought a Corral and placed a few rock slimes inside it. He wanted to buy the high walls upgrade but he was just 10 newbucks off as the price of the upgrade was 350 and he only had 340 left after he bought the corral itself. Immediately deciding on what he wanted to do he made his first goal be upgrading one corral to the max.

The difficulty he had though was with the plorts, feeding the rock slimes and collecting their plorts was easier said than done, using carrots he found growing wildly he fed the rock slimes but he could not get into the corral lest he risks his arm breaking. The first upgrade he wanted to do was an auto collector which allowed him to collect plorts without needing to enter the corral and get mauled by a group of rock slimes just doing their thing.

Going out into the free range he was reminded of the Gordo, His largest problem at the moment was how to gain money to upgrade the corral and he couldn't be away for long as then the rock slimes would escape by jumping on each other. He needed 30 of any type of food to make the Gordo pop and looking around the free range he could see that carrots and Pogofruits were in high abundance. Counting the ones that hadn't been eaten he could only find around 24 and having nothing better to do he took them and went back to the Ranch.

The night came fast and the phosphor slimes came just as fast. He enjoyed watching the little critters at night, this had slowly started to become a hobby for him to protect nugget's family from random pink or tabby slimes at night, food was not only a problem for the Gordos but also for him. Having not eaten in three days he was getting very hungry but he could only find a solution after he popped the Gordo. Popping the Gordo would give him a slime key that would allow him to go into the Greenest part of the Far Far Range known as the Moss Blanket. It had lots of Honey Slimes that would grant him a lot of money AND honey, the things he needed the most. Honey plorts could be processed into honey or just eaten as they are.

What he was really excited about though was the puddle slimes, these slimes had no need of being supervised, took very little space, their plorts had a high price, only problem was that only three puddle slimes could be in the same vicinity before they get embarrassed and stop producing plorts. Something very unique to them but that was a good trade-off as they didn't need a corral but rather a pond, which was unfortunately nearly twice as much the price of a regular corral.

He shook his head as he saw the sun starting to rise, The carrot patches and pogofruit trees were starting to bear their crops again as he counted how many carrots and pogofruits he would have after harvesting, which was not much. Only about 22 overall but it would allow him to spare some carrots for the rock slimes and pogofruits for himself, in reality, the fruits had a lot of juice, this was to the point the fruit had 'popped' in his mouth, it was very sweet indeed but the question was whether this could be cooked?

Entering the house he turned on the stove at medium-low as he grabbed a large pot and tossed in three diced carrots, And turning towards the cutting board he could see the pogofruits he had collected chopped into quarters revealing the seeds inside which made it appear more like papaya in a pomegranate shape.

He gathered some of the seeds he had crushed into powder and tossed it into the simmering pot before half covering it with a lid.

The smell that filled the was calming and faintly reminiscent of tea, the water in the pot had turned into a wine red with the carrot slices floating on the surface.

Grabbing his knife he grabbed one of the quarters of the pogofruits and scraped off the seeds, placing them into a container for later use, the knife cleanly sliced through the fruit as he chopped it into square chunks.

The lid of the pot was lifted up to reveal a cloud of slightly red steam emerging from the soup. He placed the pot on the counter as a ladle scooped out the soup with a few carrot slices at the top as the tossed in the pogofruit chunks as a condiment for the soup, now stew.

His goals, farther than the stars, but his joy? here in his plate, he grabbed the wooden spoon but not before tying a napkin around his neck lest he dirty himself, a bite of the carrots and pogofruit and a sip of the broth gave him a rather pleasant sweet taste, every ingredient having contributed well into making this stew, and with that his day would end, now having food for the next few days and also a new spice and recipe to put in his new cookbook.
