Artemis' POV
Beck stops a street or two away from Baltazar's mansion, in the shadows. By then, Letitia is awake, and her hair is disheveled from running her hands over her head, trying to relieve the pain.
"Can you tell me again what happened?" Letitia asks while grimacing, apparently due to the bad taste that sticks to her tongue.
"I don't know at all," I say while looking at her and trying to connect the dots in my head. "You left for a while after we entered the tent to dance, and soon after I knew something bad was happening because I ran into Jasper Crane, the wizard. Beck and I went looking for you and found you behind the trailers passed out," I assured.
Of course, I choose to omit the main part of the story where Jasper’s influence made me jump on Beck in a passionate attempt to forget all my inhibitions.
She doesn't need to know that. But something tells me that in the midst of the silence, Beck finds himself thinking about precisely that part of the story.
