Chapter 2 - SHARK IN ARMANI: MALLON EVERGLADE

If there was one thing Mallon was sure of, it was the fact that suits were made to serve as torture devices for shapeshifters. He grumbled as he struggled with his tie, why did they have the made the damned things so tight? His beast threatened to come forward and he growled when he realized his claws had skewered a part of the tie.

He flung the tie away and pulled out another one of similar color and snapped the draw closed with a bang. He left the small closet provided by the hotel and he headed back inside the room and grabbed his ceremonial blade, artfully displayed in the case it came in.

He was strapping it to the scabbard attached to his belt when he left his set of rooms and entered the common room where several of his gamma's waited. All dressed in suits of their own. He smirked, if he had to suffer the contraption at least he wasn't doing it alone.

The room was decorated in off white with accents of gold and wood. Just like his bed room. All the gamma's within took their feet immediately he came in and he took a quick look around. These were his guard, there to protect him from any danger that came through the single exit.

He headed towards it. Two omega not dressed in suits but still in formal wear held the door open and he walked through with his guard behind him. Another layer of protection waited in the next room. This one was a foyer of sorts that connected to other rooms in the same wing. His two betas were waiting and immediately came towards him.

Eva rolled her eyes when she saw his tie was askew again.

"Take this," she said to Tolan as she handed him the file she'd been holding and came towards Mallon. Dressed in dark purple leather pants that gleamed in the artificial light, and a metallic silver sleeveless top with tiny straps that looked like draped water on her skin and did nothing to his her…assets. She looked like a typical attractive female. Her height and dark hair only added to the exoticness. But her eyes, pale gray with accents of yellow, just like every other shapeshifter when they took human form, would alert whoever was looking that this was no human female. She was the warrior beta.

"Looks like the prime is having issue with his tie, again." She bit out pushed his hands away as she forcefully took the tie from his hands and made short work of it. He met Tolan's eyes and the younger grinned at him. Tolan, unlike Eva, was dressed in a suit just like him. He was the diplomatic beta, good for meetings like the one they were about to attend. Blonde and always happy, it was easy for people not to realize he was a shark in the Armanisuits he loved so much.

Mallon would need that ferocity for the meeting they were about to attend. He would so hate for Vampires to get the best of him.

"There," Eva said as she patted down his shoulder and gave him a stare. "Now you look like the king you are. Stop acting like a big baby, you've been wearing suits for more than a hundred and fifty years."

"Doesn't mean I have to like it." She rolled her eyes and stepped back. Eva used her familial connection to him to talk him any way she wanted. Since he had helped raise her, he let it go.

"Alright people, it's time to move. Mathias?" she called and a lean man came raised his hand.

"Call Gerald and tell him we're coming down. Notify all guards in the building as well. Chess?"

A small female omega identified herself, and Eva nodded at the bowing girl. "Clear out all our belongings, work with Cliff to move out of all the rooms we occupied. No matter how this meeting goes we won't be returning here." The younger woman bowed deeper and left the room to return to him most likely.

His phone dinged and he pulled it out while Eva kept passing commands. They couldn't leave until their path was secure and the vehicles ready to go.

It was a text from the team he had watching the enclave Cathedral they were all meeting at.

They're here.

He pocketed the phone and nodded at Eva.

"We're moving out! Phillip on me!" she waved one finger in the air and the room exploded into action. They all filled out and headed for the stairs. The elevators were more than adequate but security reasons required them to use the stairs.

In no time they were walking out the doors and guards had been waiting and following the entire time. Vampires and humans who served them alike watched the entire thing, he ignored it all till they go into the reinforced armored vehicle that would take them to the venue.

He had often though the security was over kill, he was an immortal creature after all. But Aunt Felicity, the spiritual leader of his pack had often said such action was for appearances. Yes,he couldn't be killed, but it was often best to show would be attackers they would never even reach him.

But he thought there was a much better answer, his parents had been trusting like that. Yes, they were immortal creatures, but they'd been killed hadn't they. With weapons they didn't even know existed. So yes, he travelled with a small army. Sometimes he still wished some idiot would attack just so he could relieve some steam, it had been a while since he had let go.

"Hey," Eva said from beside him and he snapped out of his thoughts and turned to her.

"What?"

She gave him a look and glanced down between them. He looked down as well to see he had plunged his claws into the passenger seat between them. He hadn't even felt when he changed. He pulled them back in but she was still looking at him.

"You okay?" He could see the question in her eyes, the sympathy. He didn't need it.

"I am fine Eva; I am in control." He refused to look at her and instead focused on watching the road in front of them as they driver sped behind two other SUV's in front.

"Okay, but maybe you should go see Mom for centering when you return, I know it is hard on you around this time of the year." She said quietly. Both of them thinking about the fact that the next day was the anniversary of his parent's death.

He didn't reply to her, he didn't get the chance to because they had arrived at the gates of the Enclave cathedral.
