Chapter 8 - MALLON EVERGLADE

"If you know the area well then you know that the Imes River circles that land and is the border recognized by all between that area and the city of Ruathe where the Vhadland enclave and stronghold is situated. By acquiring that land, all borders of the Everglade prime pack would have been secure and well situated. Structures will go up, outposts and cabins and maybe settlements for shifters as the years proceed. But they will not be taller than the tree cover and they will not come within twenty miles of the border lose to Ruathe. That is the agreement we've struck with Vhadland. The Everglade pack has always been Terran run, we do not use any systems that harm the mother earth directly or indirectly. And when we do we give back to her in our own ways," Tolan turned fully to the human team.

"The other rig you mentioned as having taken the strain on supplying your kind with fuel, did you know or did you willfully forget that you can work with witches to mitigate their ecological damage? You mentioned working with companies to mitigate the effects but you did not mention which onesspecifically." He turned away after making his point and now addressed the others, looking from the Vhadland vampires to our left and the Sevalis ahead of us.

"We the Everglade will not allow this human to do what he says he will on that land, according to the treaty signed when the denizen revealed themselves, we took up the mantle to protect the mother nd reverse the action of humans all these years, I strongly believe this rig goes against that and I will you to consider this argument in your decision. That is all we have to say at this time." He gave a short bow and sat down.

The Sevalis head looked to the Vhadland but they shook their head. Mallon knew that all they'd said had already been hashed out with the Vhadland on their territory. The only reason they were here was because the Vhadland were unable to make a choice and so they asked for intercession by another enclave they had an alliance with that had nothing to lose or gain from the issue at hand.

"The Vhadland have waived their chance to talk. We will break for ten minutes while the Sevalis and Vhadland discuss, when we return the verdict will be passed and this matter will end." The sevalis head said and nodded at Isabela who nodded back and began to sing again. The barrier slowly fell. The humans moved to a station they'd probably lugged here to have drinks and talk amongst themselves.

Mallon stood and walked casually to one of the massive windows to his right. This took him to the opposite end of the room from the door he'd come through.

~No physical speak~ he said when Eva joined him, ~no doubt they are all listening.~ she nodded beside him and they both sighed as they watched the city outside their window. High rises made out of glass and steel dotted the skyline, while down below, stately manors and older buildings were arranged in neat bocks. The noise of the street had returned when the shield fell and he closed his eyes to listen.

He didn't know how and why the vampires enjoyed such noise. Deep in the glade's hearth where the heart of his empire was situated, the only noise was that of birds and the breeze as it move through leaves. The sound of the forest that surrounded his entire territory. He could almost hear it now.

~what do we do about Isabela?~ Eva asked, interrupting and pulling a sigh from him as the horrid sounds of the city reached him again. ~You have to find a way to touch her now and know for sure~ she was saying.

~You are right, I had thought of nothing more than to be in the same room with her now that I am I do not know what to do~

~Well, I think we don't need to worry too much about that~

~what…~ just then the scent hit him before Isabela spoke.

"Have we met before?" she said and he turned away from the window to her. Taller than she'd looked sitting down he gave her a smile and a short bow. She looked older than him, smelled older too. She fixed a hard gaze at him, he could almost see the gears turning.

"I do not believe so," he said and stretched his hand for a shake. She looked down at it for a for him, the entire world reduced to that one moment. Would she take it and convince him once and for all?

"I am Isabela De Fontaine," she pumped once and let go.

To those looking it looked like a innocent meeting of two people. Inside Mallon though, his entire body was ringing, the spell had activated the moment her hand touched him. His wolf rose forward and he clenched his jaw.

~Mal?~ Eva asked but he fought hard to wrest control and almost didn't hear what she said.

"-have you been there befoe?"

~she is asking if you've ever been to the Thermo moutains~ Eva supplied and he shook his head.

"I am afraid not, I hardly leave my territory unless for issues like this," put his hands in his pockets when he felt his claws lengthen.

~mal, is it her?~ Eva asked again.

~yes~ only he heard the sharp breath she drew in.

~leave us~ he ordered and with a bow Eva returned to Tolan.

Isabela was still fixing those eyes that saw too much at him, "That is quite the large territory you hold. No one person in any specie has such control and power over such a large percentage of their kind."

"Trust me, I didn't set out to conquer. It was just a…consequence? Is that the word?" he narrowed his eyes before he shook his head. "Either way, I have peace in my land, all those under me are prospering and that is all I wish for."

She looked at him. "Do you have witches working for you? I offer my services to those who can afford it and it seems like you might."

~Over my dead body bitch~

"Not at this moment no, we have a good team that has generational and familial ties with us."

She nodded and folded her arms. "Ah, good to know. Do you have…famial ties of your own?" she turned her head away while her eyes stayed coyly on him.

He chuckled. While his wolf growled deep in his gut. "Not yet, still waiting for the one and all that."

"Well…" she pulled a gold card out of her cleavage and angled her heard, letting a tendril tease the afore mentioned cleavage. "Call me if you do need anything." No chance in hell. She gave him a smile and sauntered off.

Making sure to put extra effort in the movement of her waist. As he watched her sorry excuse at seduction, he wondered if her heart would taste as good he imagined it would when he tore it out of her.
