Chapter 8 - The Gift

This morning, a commotion broke out at the Duchess of Rissingshire's residence. The Emperor's decision to allow the engagement of Duchess Rissingshire—Alexandra has come out and everyone in the empire has heard that.

The news was very exciting, just like the war had taken place. The nobles talked about the embarrassing engagement.

"The Rissingshire family will soon be wiped out." The ladies whispered behind their fans, mocking grins engraved on their faces.

Alexandra was a lady who defied the rules in the empire. She wielded a sword, joined the war, and governed the Duchy. Where the other lady must maintain their manners, follow social activities, according to their husbands, and without strength.

That's why Alexandra became the boast of the Ladies and young masters who could not afford it.

The news of Alexandra being engaged to a mercenary knight made them laugh with satisfaction. Finally Alexandra did a stupid, despicable thing.

"It's a pity that Duchess Rissingshire was forced to get engaged to a paid knight because none of the esteemed royals wanted to marry her." Each of the nobles mocked this to satisfy themselves that they were far more powerful than the oldest and courageous family in the Asteorene empire.

"We must give a gift to heal the wounds of Duchess Rissingshire. She must be very sad again." A lady with her hair in a bun behind pretended to wipe her waterless eyes.

It seemed like she was pretending to be sad about what had happened. But behind the drama they played, they all laughed at Duchess Rissingshire, who never appeared at the socialite's tea party.

This morning, the Duchess of Rissingshire's residence was so busy because so many gifts came from the royals to congratulate Alexandra.

"Look at them shamelessly, they even arrogantly raised their heads while bringing a gift that was not much iti."

Alfo, who was next to Alexandra, babbled because he saw that the gift they gave Alexandra was simpler than the engagement gift made by the daughter Duke Everson, even though they knew that Rissingshire was above Everson.

"You're so noisy, Alfo. They will get the reply."

Alexandra's eyes glanced lazily next to her, then she saw something interesting in front of her.

Unlike the other gifts that came to her, this was the gift that got her attention.

"Greetings to the leader of Rissingshire, Duchess Alexandra Rissingshire. I Baxter messenger from Marquis Concher would like to convey a message from Marquis Concher on your engagement to sir Lucian Hutch." Baxter lowered his head and was respectful to Alexandra, who was still looking at her coldly.

All who were there felt domination with Alexandra's aura of intimidation.

"Say it." Alexandra's firm and bitter voice made him lift his body.

"Marquis Concher congratulated you on your engagement, and as a form of his attention, He sent you armor specially made by the

Blacksmith of the Concher region." Baxter grinned. He confidently said what he believed.

March Concher was a region famous for their blacksmith abilities. They were very good at cultivating iron ores, which is why the armor formed there was famous for having a prime quality.

If Marquis Concher brought the Armor to Alexandra, it was obvious that he wanted to cooperate with the Duchy of Rissingshire, where many knights were great, and the most famous was Alexandra's ability.

"Bring it here."

Hearing Alexandra's remarks, Baxter was thrilled. He and his knights carried silver armor that looked so beautiful. On the front it is not only plain, but has a dragon carving of the Rissingshire emblem. This kind of thing certainly cannot be made in a hurry and carelessly, it is clear that they prepared for a long time and waited for the right moment to show it to Rissingshire.

When the Armor was already near Alexandra, Alexandra's eyes researched the armor very well. She smiled at her beauty and thoroughness in making this armor.

"Give me your sword." Alexandra stretched out her hand, asking for the sword hanging on the left waist of the Concher knight holding the armor throne.

The knight hadn't given it yet, when he saw Alexandra's eyes twitching with swallowing his saliva, he directly gave his sword uneasily.

Their hearts were pounding, they were alert with the readiness to pull the sword from their sword sheath.

Seeing the red-haired Alexandra walking closer and closer, making them frightened, then Alexandra's hand moved quickly and....

Clang!

The sword hit the armor, they were sword. The sharp corners of Alexandra's eyes made them tremble. They thought their lives would drift away.

The aura that came out was extremely terrifying, they saw Alexandra's dragon-like shiny eyes. If they fight Alexandra, of course they will lose.

It turned out that Alexandra the war monster was testing the strength of the armor. That was her reward.

She smiled and looked at Baxter.

"Say my thanks to Marquis Concher for the gift."

Baxter lowered his head with a smile. Today he will go home to March Concher feeling very happy. They will experience good and mutually beneficial cooperation.

After all the envoys from other noble families came home, Alfo, who had been next to Alexandra, wiped his sweat.

"Duchess, you scared the others."

"Should I be sweet-mouthed at them?" asked Alexandra indifferently. "You raved yourself because the gift they gave was insulting to me."

Alfo was silent, he did that because he was very upset.

"I have remembered everything. Do you remember which family laughed at Rissingshire?" asked Alexandra eerily menacingly.

"Sure, I remember all of them, Duchess."

Alfo understood this leader and he served very well. Her brief speech is always serious, especially regarding her pride. Alexandra had a sharp mind not to be humbled.

That way Alexandra stood up from her throne. Those who are not self-aware of what they are doing will be under their feet, while those who are conscious will be beside her.

They themselves decide, they themselves receive the reply.

Alexandra walked towards her room to rest before she met Lucian this afternoon.
