Cold winds ripped through his fur, as he sped through the forest with threatening stealth that was very uncommon for wolves his size. Nothing would sense his approach until he pounced on it, but that was his secret and he intended to keep it that way. Fenris would have continued on his path and possibly broken his speed record if the scent of a female's arousal that permeated the air hadn't caused him to freeze. His eyes dilated and changed into gold. He had to stop his wolf from howling. Automatically, he headed in the direction of the scent. There was only one person that had such an effect on him.
"Mate" his wolf whined as they slowly progressed towards the scent.
The power of the arousal had made him clumsy and his wolf uneasy. He could sense that something was wrong, he picked up other scents but his mate's arousal overpowered his senses. His wolf seemed frantic and afraid of something, it took a lot of will to keep him headed towards his mate. His wolf wanted to flee, it predicted trouble. He quickly shifted back to his human form and continued on his feet.
He was a few feet from the clearing when the sickly sound of his mate moaning for another male hit him, enraged Fenris rushed forward and tore them apart. He faced the intruder squarely, recognizing its rogue scent and struggling to keep his wolf from taking control.
"Rogue" his wolf growled.
Despite his control, his fingers had begun to elongate.
"You wouldn't dare!" His mate sneered at him, stepping between him and the rogue.
His wolf whimpered and disappeared from the surface.
"I thought so" she cackled power radiating from her voice. "You've always been a weakling, you cannot harm us." Viva his mate continued.
Bewildered, Fenris stared at the woman he called his wife, his heart crumbling under the vehemence in her voice.
"Viva...." He croaked, unable to comprehend the amount of pain surging through his veins. His wolf whined and whimpered.
"Why are you dumbfounded, my dear Fenris? You never loved or cared about me!" Viva screamed, "He does! You were too busy trying to save your dwindling pack from losing power to care about me, I deserve better Fenris and you of all people know that I can only be with someone who wields power. Since you do not anymore, I have found a better mate." She finished.
Fenris growled, "Liar," his wolf said focusing on the defiant male behind Viva, he would rip him apart.
"Therefore..." Viva said before Fenris realized what was happening, "I reject you, Fenris Briden."
Raw pain first swept through Fenris as the bond between them dissolved to nothing. The pain was quickly covered up by blinding rage. They had challenged his dominance and so his wolf took control. He began to transform, ready to tear them apart. He gnarled, his bones cracking and rearranging as he fell to the floor. Viva's eyes widened in delight.
"Are you alone Fenris?" She asked giggling. "How could you be so stupid? Do you think you can out-power us?"
Fenris grunted, reigning control of his wolf, he had been so hurt that he failed to notice that Viva had used her long speech to bait him while waiting for reinforcements that had arrived. The rogue chuckled, as he stepped out from Viva's back. He whistled and his group, who had been in hiding, surrounded Fenris. Fenris growled and dashed towards the rogue, but was stopped by two jaws that gripped his hind legs. He howled out, his power vibrating the grounds as he called on his pack. The rogue realizing what had happened struck his belly, allowing his claws to draw blood before fleeing from the scene with his pack.
"Fuck" Fenris snarled drowsily, watching them go. He was going to rip them apart, he thought to himself. That woman was going to regret betraying him. She left him to be with a fucking rogue! He would catch them and make their lives a living hell! Rogue leader, right? He was going to kill every rogue that crossed his path! Due to lack of energy he slumped, but before oblivion took over, he sensed another rogue approach. Surprisingly, he found its scent calming and soothing, which annoyed him.
