In these parts, Fenris Briden was known for his zero tolerance for rogues. He killed them on the spot and encouraged members of his pack to do the same. To him, rouges represented betrayal, and didn't deserve to live. His cruelty and cold-heartedness earned him some respect, but his dominance, strength, influence, and the size of his territory made him the most powerful alpha around. No wolf dared to enter his territory uninvited and rogues avoided it completely.
They dragged Nyx into the large park where members of the pack waited anxiously. Fenris's call had startled them. Fear oozed out from their pores as they waited for their alpha's return. Nyx, who had passed out from exhaustion, jolted awake when she was dropped to the ground. She tried to make a bearing of her surroundings. Tall trees surrounded the park and makeshift benches were scattered around, with pack members of different ages and sizes seated on them. She, the Alpha, and Beta were on a platform that gave them a view of everyone in the pack. Her ears pricked as she sensed them examining her curiously. Their shoulders were hunched tensely, telling her that the presence of rogues was not a normal occurrence in their pack.
Fenris stood straight as he watched the members of his pack. He could hear the silent whispers as they tried to figure out why he had brought a female rogue home.
"Maybe he needed to form new alliances," they murmured, and so he struck a deal with a rogue leader.
"Maybe they had offered him a woman from their group to appease and make peace with him."
So many theories rang through the air and Fenris watched them with keen interest. After a while he cleared his throat, silencing everyone.
"Today in the forest, I was betrayed by Viva. She cheated on, attacked, and rejected me. Henceforth, she is to be seen as a prime enemy. Our bonds with her have been shattered, you must have felt it dying off." Fenris said forcefully.
Members of his pack whimpered in response.
"This" he gestured to Nyx who lay on the floor, "is the unfortunate rogue we captured after the attack."
Members of the pack growled furiously and began crowding the platform with their claws raised to attack. Nyx felt bitter but she was too exhausted to show it, she remained limp on the floor, as claws struck her body, leaving ugly cuts. Fenris looked at her thoughtfully, wondering why she hadn't reacted the way she did in the forest. He wanted her to lose control of her wolf so he could get the truth out of her. Angered wolves did not lie when being confronted. Seeing them hit her pinched his skin and made him uneasy.
"Enough" he thundered, and they grumbled back to their positions. "She is not to die yet, we do not have any information about her or her group. She would be placed in the dungeon for now and interrogated by me later, you can go home now" he dismissed them.
The warriors in the pack, who had followed the Beta to the Alpha's rescue, hefted Nyx up and threw her into the dark musty dungeon. After Fenris was sure that she was locked up, he went into his man cave to heal and lick his wounds.
"Betrayal!" Nyx wolf cried, prancing around in her subconscious. "Let me out! Let us use our power to subdue them" it cried angrily.
Though exhausted, Nyx's body shook with anger.
"How could she be accused of a crime that she did not commit because she decided to help someone?" She thought bitterly.
The injustice made her want to cut out his throat, but she knew her anger was useless. She was bound with silver chains that burnt her wrists and slowed her healing process. There was nothing she could do, so instead of allowing her rage to consume the last of her energy, she needed to think and heal. While her mind was trying to figure out the best ways to free herself, exhaustion pushed her into a deep slumber.
Hours later, Nyx's senses picked up determined footsteps headed her way. "It is a guard," she drowsily told herself. Though her wounds had healed during the night, she was still sore all over.
Splash!
Ice cold water hit her, violently snatching her sleep from her and drenching her light clothes. Nyx jumped up astonished and looked at her indignant assailant. Red mists clouded Nyx's senses, she dashed towards her assailant, a petite young woman, but was stopped by the chains that held her. She struggled with the chains. She would have easily ripped them apart if she hadn't been so hungry and worn out. In frustration, she roared, the sound of her voice caused the walls and foundations of the dungeon to tremble.
