'Brrrh Brrrh Brrrh'.
The alarm clock on Maddie's bedside table rang out loud enough to wake Maddie up from a delightful sleep.
Lazily, she stretched her hand out trying to turn it off but it resulted in it falling off the table and straight towards the ground making a noisy sound and going off completely.
It took Maddie minutes before she registered what she had done. She sluggishly sat at the edge of the bed, removing the duvet and staring blankly at the broken alarm clock on the floor.
Yawning like she hadn't slept for two days, she brought her pale fair hands to her mouth to cover it as a sign of etiquette only to realize that....
Her hands were dirty. She stared at it blankly for two seconds straight before jumping to her feet in shock. Staring at both hands this time, she noticed they were covered in dried mud, her eyes were blurring as her brain registered the mess in her room.
With shaking hands, she stared at her bare feet. She had worn a huge white T shirt and a pair of black shorts to bed last night and now the shirt was completely stained with dirt, her feet was dirty and her tears were slowly falling out.
It looked the same, just like two nights ago when..., when she had woken up to the same situation. That day had been crazy and she had shoved it aside thinking it was some prank or something she couldn't fathom. What was the explanation for this now?
The bright sun light coming from her room window made her feel dizzy and stressed. She would have covered her mouth to suppress any noise that would come out but her hands were dirty, they were very dirty like she had dug deeply into the mud.
She immediately rushed to her bathroom. Standing next to the basin, she began to rinse her hand thoroughly with tap water as she washed in between her slender pale fingers whilst cleansing her dirty nails as well.
After she was done, she showered, refusing to go back to the room with the evidence of the dirt on her body. Afterwards she stepped out in nothing but a cream colored bathrobe and a towel wrapped around her long brown hair.
She frantically moved about gathering the bed sheets in her arms as she made her way towards her dirty laundry. If she could, she would do the laundry right now and right there but the thought about her current situation still sent shivers to her body.
She finally rid the room of the dirty laundry and replaced them with cleaner ones. Her heart which had started beating fast wanting to jump out of her chest, slowed down but her face remained deadly pale.
The door getting knocked brought her out of her trance. A teenage rebellious voice sounded from behind the closed door, it looked arrogant but yet warm and familiar.
" Madisyn, don't forget there's a fucking assembly at school today, Hurry up so we don't miss it", Julianne said and the sounds of her departing footsteps walking away remained the only sounds behind the door till it finally vanished.
Maddie stared down at her hands once again. Pale hands looking absolutely clean stared back at her. She's lost the strength to go anywhere today but she's been a good student since senior year began and she wanted to keep it that way.
With her bare feet still on the cold carpet, she slightly bent down to pick up the broken alarm clock and tossed it on her bed. Her phone would substitute for it, she would go shopping once it's Saturday.
She walked over to her wardrobe and quickly brought out a white colored, short wavy skirt along with a peach colored, cropped top which read the inscription 'Sunny Days Are Lovely' in bold white letters.
Afterwards, she managed to style her already dried hair in a lose weaving which she hung on her left shoulder and covered her previous dirty legs with peach colored ankle boots.
She then applied light make up to hide her frustration even though no one would literally notice. Afterwards, she walked back to the wardrobe to close it's doors.
Her eyes suddenly came in contact with the bracelet which she had found in her locker two days ago. At first it seemed like some parting gift from Vanessa but now she feels like it's holding more value.
She softly placed it back inside, closing the wardrobe door. She grabbed the needed textbooks as she gently walked out of her room, heading towards the stairs.
" I called in sick today, so obviously I am not going to school and if it's about seeing a doctor, hold your horses dear cousins because I'm sure I'll recover if I get the needed rest", Leah said loudly as she turned to stare at Maddie who was walking down the stairs and then at Julianne who was stuffing fruits in her mouth whilst resting her waist on the dining table.
Maddie paused as she reached the foot of the stairs calmly staring at the twelve year old for a clear answer. " Don't give me that look Cousin Maddie", Leah blurted out as her older cousin stared at her with brown inquisitive eyes.
" I'm not totally missing school, besides I already have someone who will willingly give me notes after school", she smiled softly as she casually shoved her hands into her jean pockets whilst relaxing her body posture behind the green large couch.
Her black short hair seemed to sparkle much better today. " Did you do something with your hair?", Maddie asked as she approached Leah finally dropping the school issue and forgetting her own morning drama.
" I'm not sure you see clearly Cousin Maddie because I'm pretty sure you are talking about this new black ear ring on the left side of my ear. Yeah I finally pierced my ear but just one side", Leah said in a relaxing tone as she walked around the chair to take a comfortable seat on it.
Maddie's eyes widened as she quickly followed the twelve year old wanting more than just a casual explanation. Stopping right in front of her, she regarded her with the grown up look causing Leah to sigh softly.
" Has your mom seen your new look Leah? We both know she would only accept it if you wore two ear rings, now one's just trouble and I don't know why you would want trouble", Maddie spoke calmly but the panic in her voice couldn't be hidden.
Leah had always been a smart kid who loved shoving people in their places and also putting them in difficult situations. At first she thought it was a cute attribute but now she was wondering if it would get out of hand.
" Relax Cousin Maddie. I did this to prove my masculinity to you all. My pixie cut hair style isn't just a style, it's to show that I prefer guys way of living, now this ear ring will suggest more.
"There are already three females in this house, I think we need a dude to protect us and I can be that dude", Leah said smoothly like she had already prepared a note filled with convincing words.
Julianne rolled her grey eyes from the side as she picked up a fruit knife on the dining table which she used in swiftly cutting the apple in her hand and placing the sliced pieces in her mouth as she relished the taste whilst listening to her silly cousin and overbearing sister argue.
" I would literally have given you more than one reason you shouldn't pierce only one ear but I can't be late to school so, stay safe", Maddie said hurriedly as she walked out of the house while Julianne trailed behind but immediately stopped following.
" Leah", she called out, all the way from the door and Leah's charming face immediately came into view.
" Spoil yourself because when Brenda comes back from work and figures you didn't go to school today, there are going to be punishments", she said softly before shutting the door behind her and strolling over to Maddie's car.
Leah sighed and walked over to the door opening it a teeny bit just in time to get a glimpse of Maddie's car driving away. She smiled to herself and shut the door.
Now that she's got some alone time, she would go visit her favorite jewellery collection. The pink bracelet Maddie newly got, her findings about it were doubling and she wanted to make it clearer before she told Maddie about it.
★★★★
The dining room at the safe Haven today was filled to the brim with Supernatural creatures of all kind.
Not because the dish today had some certain attractiveness but because they had all assembled here to hear the punishments that would be given to the five ignorant witches.
The five long tables which was in the wide spacious hall was filled to the brim, each person occupying their seats leaving no room for another. Everyone was well seated and comfortable as they made small conversations with each other.
The room was wide enough to accommodate five long tables because it was actually the largest room in the Manor. Each long table was surrounded with chairs being opposite each other which were already occupied by people.
The chattering in the room was very loud as everyone tried to guess the punishments that would be handed to the five who had disobeyed. It was one thing to disobey and be forgiven but disobeying Scott's order followed a huge punishment. It had been so for centuries and today wouldn't be any different.
In the far end of the room. A huge table stood in the middle. Where the representative of each creature sat down waiting for the Lord of the Manor, Scott Cohen.
The table was Large but short and could only occupy five seats. The head of the table was reserved primarily for Scott while the representatives which are also called the council in the safe Haven spoke amongst each other.
Six seats were left empty and everyone clearly knew who those seats belonged to. Rose, the dark skinned witch with black raven hair, Josie, the brown curly haired witch, Maverick, the blonde haired green eyed witch, Peacelynn, the brown haired with a pixie cut witch, Melvin, the red haired boy who behaved feminine and last but not the least, Alice, the red haired girl with an undeniable quietness.
" It only stated that Five people were going to be punished but I see six chairs in particular, empty. Is one of them going to be spared?", Eleanor, the blonde haired girl who had spoken to Rose the other day about everything being her fault said without refrain.
Her brother turned to look at her with a raised eye brow as his eyes scanned the room and so did the others who heard what Eleanor had said.
Their table was the third longest and was positioned in the middle of the room. " Maybe one is going to be spared", someone who had heard Eleanor speak answered her and every other person began to shed light on the issue.
Frank, Eleanor's brother had always known his sister had a big mouth. He barely payed any attention as he quickly went back to staring at his phone screen since they weren't gathered here to have meals.
" I heard that Josette got pretty hurt", someone's small voice spoke amongst them, it was more like a whisper but Frank was able to hear it loud and clear because of the mention of the name Josette.
" Yeah I also heard that Lyra, the banshee stumbled into Josie's ward. I mean Lyra woke up in the middle of the night and the nurses found her inside Josie's ward. Do you think Josie's gonna die?", a male voice spoke this time and Frank immediately stood up from his chair causing the little group who were discussing to stare at him strangely.
" Everyone please be upstanding as we welcome the Lord of the Manor, Scott Cohen", a brown haired woman in a red long gown spoke from the far end of the room, where the podium stood and everyone in their seats immediately began to stand up as well as the representatives.
Scott emerged dressed in a black jacket with a white shirt underneath and white rugged jeans and black boots. His hair was slicked back like the gentle man he was and his eyes seemed too quiet.
" Sit down please", his voice sounded through the mic and everyone began to sit down one by one. Until everyone was comfortable did he begin to talk again.
" You all have been gathered here today as witnesses to the judgement I am about to pass on the witches who have gone against my order", Scott stated as the hall became very silent, to the extent the breathing sounds from people could be heard by those creatures with sensitive hearing.
" Angie, call them out", Scott said turning to the brown haired woman behind him. She gracefully walked over to him not tripping even though the red gown she had worn was so long.
Taking the mic in her hand gracefully, she voiced. " Roseline Alvarez, Maverick Peters, Peacelynn Leighton, Melvin Summers, Josette Leighton and Alice Burgh", she said and four people emerged from behind the doors as they walked with their heads held up high passing through the narrow corners in the dining room to meet up with Scott in the podium.
The hall quickly went up with murmurs coming from each table as they watched, Peacelynn, Rose, Maverick and Melvin walk towards the podium.
Their heads were held up high not as a sign of lack of guilt but it was a trait of witches to not bow down for just anyone or anything, their pride mattered a lot to them.
Though Peacelynn was hurting because her sister was still lying in the Manor's hospital, unconscious, she still had a reputation to uphold on behalf of the witches and refused to look weak in front of other creatures.
" Shall we begin?", Scott asked in an attempt to silence the noise as the four witches stood in each of their positions after reaching the far end of the room.
The hall became as quiet as a graveyard as everyone awaited the punishments of each and everyone of the witches present.
