The Crimson Vulture crashed through the waves and the beastly Gan was at the helm steering the ship. It had been a couple days since they had seen an island and they were running low on supplies and he was starting to worry if they would even survive. Well. That is if Yua wasn't being actively hunted.
Yua was in the Crows nest of the ship or as she liked to call it. The Vulture's Nest. She wasn't doing her job of looking for an island. She was still looking at her poster with a big adorable grin making the occasional giggle adoring it. She'd never been wanted for well anything and this just meant this was she was a pirate now. An official one. And a captain too. She was extremely gleeful.
Gan: Yua I can hear you from down here. Do you even see anything.
Yua: I'm seeing a very pretty girl.
Gan: Sounds like your delusional.
Yua: HEY! Respect your captain!
Yua continued shouting and then slowly looked up. She saw an island in the distance and cheered.
Yua: GAN! GAN! ISLAND! STRAIGHT AHEAD!
Gan: Yua. You don't have to shout. I don't want any bounty hunters.
Yua: ISLAND!
The Crimson Vulture docked at one of the many islands in the Conomi isles. The dock of Cocoyashi village was busy when the two pulled in.
Gan grabbed Murakumogiri and sighed. He wasn't letting Yua have all the fun this time. Yua jumped down from the "Vulture's" nest and smiled at Gan.
Gan: We are here for supplies. Remember that.
Yua: And a friend.
Gan: Yua if you want more people at least pick someone worthwhile. Cause remember just because someone might look nice doesn't mean they want to be a pirate
Yua: So what are you saying you think I have a bad judgment of character?
Gan: Well....yes actually. That's exactly what I'm saying.
Yua pouted and looked off at the docks determined.
Yua: I'll find someone perfect. They'll be one of the best fighters in this part of the sea.
Gan: Yeah I was talking about someone who has a notable skill but I suppose they can have both.
Yua ran off halfway through the sentence and could be seen running up the path. Gan groaned loudly and ran off into the town to get supplies.
Gan: That girl is so stubborn.
Yua continued to run around looking at the people trying to find a new crew member. She harassed multiple people not having any luck.
Yua sat outside the Mayor's house and sighed. Everyone seemed so scared. Everyone seemed on edge.
Yua could hear lots of talking inside. Shouting even. She went to stand before a man shot out of the building past her and she looked back so see a man? A cowboy?
Yua stood up and the man looked at her. He was very western though his weapon did not look like a classic revolver.
???: Howdy little lady, by any chance you wouldn't happen to know where the Jade Blade is?
Yua: Jade blade? Like a sword? I haven't seen any swords anywhere. Sorry. I'm not from here.
Yua giggled and the cowboy tipped his hat to her.
Jessie: Well I guess I won't bother a pretty little thing like you. My name is Jessie if ya hear anything be sure to find me. See ya partner.
Jessie walked off and Yua looked confused. Jade blade? Why did he attack the Mayor?
Yua ran into the town to try and find Gan
Gan had finished his shopping and was now walking around town just for the hell of it. He could hear some loud female shouting coming towards him and looked back and saw the orange haired girl running at him and then stopped looking up at him staring.
Yua: Gan!
Yua smiled widely at him. And Gan looked down at her waiting for something.
Gan: What.
Yua: A cowboy beat up the mayor and said I was pretty.
Gan: And? Where is he?
Yua: Finding a Sword.
Gan: Why would a cowboy need a sword Yua.
Yua: For cutting things.
Gan: Ok that's on me I set the bar pretty low. So why are you telling me?
Yua: He could be our friend. And we could have a mystery sword.
Gan: Mystery sword huh? Now your speaking my language.
Yua: Cmon let's go. I saw him head off to the cliffs.
The two ran towards the cliffs on the other side of the island and were only met with a little shack. They looked at each other. Gan frowned and Yua was giddy. She ran up and knocked on the door.
The door creaked open to reveal a long green haired man dressed in a light blue turtleneck sweater vest and black casual pants/trousers with a katana on his waist. He was eating noodles and looked between them he was around the average male's height.
???: Yo.
Yua: Hi. Are you a cowboy?
Don: No my name is Don. What are you talking about cowboy?
Gan: Yua you hallucinated a cowboy.
Yua: I definitely didn't.
Don: What kind of loser dresses up like a cowboy nowadays
Yua: Well um Mr Don
Don: Please Please Mr Don is my father. You can call me Don the Jade Blade!
Yua and Gan look at each other for a brief moment.
Gan: I'm not calling you that. The Jade Blade is..... you?
Don: Yeah what of it?
Yua: Well the cowboy said he was looking for a Jade blade. Are you sure it's ..... you?
Don: You people are extremely insulting. Yes! I am!
Gan: Not your sword?
Don: You people. Do you even hear me. I am the Jade Blade. Me. Don Garomenn. Not a sword. Me. A human.
Yua and Gan look him up and down in sync together and then at each other and back at Don.
Yua/Gan: Really?
Don narrowed his eyes looking at the two of them. He had absolutely no idea what they wanted but he wasn't having it. Especially after they had been pretty insulting towards him.
Don: Yes. Really.
Yua: So is that title like.... super special or something? Cause it seems some people know it.
Don: Well um mostly pirates and bounty hunters. I don't have a bounty but people still come. And they still try to kill me.
Gan: So that means there are people right now here in this village that will want to kill you?
Don: I dunno. I'm not from here I arrived here after my raft crashed broke to pieces. I knew that the cycle of it would never end until I died so I stay here. Alone. No one knows I live up here. Well. Apart from you two.
Yua: You've been alone for a long time? Oh I know! You should come with us and be a pirate! We are super fun!
Gan's eyes widened. He wasn't expecting her to do this so outright.
Gan: Now now Yua. The poor man is probably just looking for a nice quiet life now. Teaming up with pirates probably isn't his kind of thing.
Don looked at them and shrugged a little turning back into his shack and grabbing a big bag.
Yua and Gan watched him packing his things and Yua's smile grew while Gan kept the same expression. Don looked over at Gan and Yua.
Don: So you guys well known?
Gan: Not really.
Yua: I have a bounty!
Don looked at Yua who was now only smiling. And he looked at Gan for some kind of confirmation not really believing it.
Don: Sorry I think I miss heard. You? You have a bounty?
He pointed at Yua and she nodded and speed walked up to him holding out her hand for a handshake.
Yua: I'm Yua! I'm the captain!
Don shook her hand perplexed. He looked at Gan and then back at Yua. He knew that the seas were tough so people have to be tough. But how could someone so optimistic?
Don: Well um. Thank you Yua I used to be a pirate myself before I stranded myself here so it's a pleasure.
Gan: Ok ok. If you two are done now can we go? If you have a cowboy problem then we have a cowboy problem.
Yua: We'll be ok. If we see him we can just talk to him.
Don: If only you could share optimism.
Yua, Gan and Don walked back to town towards the docks. Yua was humming which Don seemed very annoyed by but when looking at Gan he realised that he'd probably have to tolerate such things.
Yua: So. Don your sword? It's very nice looking did you paint it or something.
Don: Ah well it's actually quite the tale how me and ol Mizu here met.
Gan: Save it for the boat. No doubt we'll get bored at some point.
Yua and the boys walked onto the dock and were met with someone blocking their path.
Jessie: Howdy Partner.
Yua: Oh Cowboy. See I told you he was real.
Gan and Don looked at each other with a exhausted look then back at Jessie.
Jessie: Ah, I see you brought me the Jade Blade! How pleasant of you.
Yua: Huh? Oh yeah that's Don.... Um sorry cowboy but no. He's my friend. And he's agreed to be on my crew!
Gan readied Murakumogiri and Don put his hand on Mizu preparing for the worst.
Jessie: Your crew? There's no way a pretty little thing like... wait a second.
He kept looking at Yua with a hard stare and pulled out a wanted poster from his jacket looking at it then at Yua and smiled.
Jessie: Seems I got lucky. I got a little girl with a high bounty and dead man walking.
He took out his heavily modified revolver and spun it pointing it at the three occasionally overlooking Gan as he wasn't as important in his eyes.
Yua had created a small mass of bubbles in her palm behind her back and Don was suddenly not as focused as he once was and was occasionally looking at what Yua was doing intrigued by it.
Jessie fixed his aim onto Yua and fired. In the very brief moment Gan grabbed Yua and pulled her away. The bullet went straight hitting a civilian. Don on the other hand had unsheathed Mizu. Which wasn't Jade but almost a dark blue he slid along the ground jumping up a little and slicing the face of Jessie only just about leaving a small scar on his right left side and kicked him into the ocean.
Yua and Gan walked over and looked down at the man splashing around. He didn't seem like he was a devil fruit user so he wouldn't drown at the very least.
Jessie shot wildly up towards the three and was attempting to swim while doing so. Gan grabbed a bag of flour that had just come off a small cargo ship nearby and dropped it onto Jessie knocking him out due to the weight and the pressure he was already feeling.
Gan: Well. That takes care of that.
Don sheathed Mizu and looked at them. More specifically Yua.
Don: The fuck were you doing?
Yua: Talking.
Don: Not that! The bubble thing! You were literally just making them from yourself!
Gan: Don please not so loud. We can explain on the ship.
Yua: I mean I dunno what he was expecting as we are called the Bubble Pirates.
Don: Don't try and act like that's normal!
The three sat on the ship and Don had not taken his eyes off Yua.
Yua: Welp. I'm going to go and make some space for Don.
Gan: Why would he need space?
Yua: He makes stuff? Did you not see his shack? It was basically a workshop.
Yua ran down to storage to make room for Don. Don on the other hand looked to Gan for answers.
Don: Hey.
Gan: Hey?
Don: You gonna explain any of this. I mean what she did isn't exactly common.
Gan looked down and sighed.
Gan: When our old crew picked Yua up. We weren't quite sure what to do. The villagers warned us she was dangerous or at least her family is. But when we met her. She was all alone. No family. No food. No money. So we assumed we'd got it wrong. But with all that being said she still had the most annoying infectious smile. But that's not why our captain wanted her. You see. Yua is one of the many people in this world who has eaten the devils fruit. It gives great power some imply. But you lose the ability to swim. Our captain assumed it was powerful. But I haven't actually seen her win any kind of fight with it yet but after the reaction we got in Orange Town I am lead to believe she's not as clueless as she comes across. On top of all that... you ever heard of a Poneglyth?
Don: Oh those useless rocks with gibberish no one can read? Yeah I'm aware.
Gan: Well I don't know how. And I'm not sure as to why but Yua seems to be able to read them. It's her dream in fact to read them all. She has no interest in anything else from what I know. But those rocks are also the key to the legendary treasure some say. How true that is I don't know.
Don: Wow. So Yua is living proof that those things aren't gibberish! That's crazy. She's a Archeologist! I wouldn't have thought that at all.
Don looked toward the storage door and smiled.
Don: Yknow I've been pretty alone for most of my life too. So me and her aren't so different. I think I'm gonna like it here. Even if she can be a bit stupid at times.
Gan: And stubborn.
Don smiled and looked up at the flag. It was pure black. Nothing on it. And walked to take it down.
Don: Bubble Pirates yeah?
He found some paints in his bag and laid everything out on deck.
Gan: Yeah.... We're the Bubble Pirates.
He smiled and went to the boys quarters where he placed Murakumogiri and smiled and began muttering to himself.
Gan: A bunch of lonely losers. I wouldn't have it any other way....
The Crimson after a couple more days was set to leave. Don had his own workshop. And the crew had their very own pirate flag. It was quite a beautiful design. It was a pink skull in a bubble. Surrounded by other bubbles. Yua would often lay on deck and admire it. She loved it. She had friends, a ship and a desire to travel.
Gan: Hey Captain! We leaving yet?
Gan was standing at the wheel smiling down at Yua on the deck. She smiled back and nodded.
Yua: Yep! Let's get moving!
