One snap is all it took.
Blue eyes stared silently at light brown eyes as they shrunk and vanished from sight. A tsunami wrecked his soul instantly and his heart crashed into it's raging waters.
Zhou Jian didn't have any time to react before his beloved fell to his death. There was a dreadful silence as everyone stared in shock at the body of the brilliant actor about a few kilometers below. No one immediately understood what had just occured.
The silence was broken by a shriek from a nearby staff member. The netizens were still frozen and it was a while before many started wailing in grief. The man's phoenix eyes were glued to the spot where the youth once was as rescue workers switched tasks and set out to find the body.
Wang Tao, after getting over the shock, looked over at his boss and felt his heart twist in pain. His silver eyes followed the tears that streamed down Zhou Jian's face. Looking at the expressionless face of his boss, Wang Tao worried that his friend had been broken by the sight.

.
Back in B city, Wang Tao glimpsed at the back of the young CEO as he stared out the window, watching the rain pouring down from the clouded sky.
It had been a day since Chen Xiang's grand funeral which was streamed live for many fans to see. They sent their condolences online to their idol's lover. The actor had mentioned him before on a stream but didn't reveal the other's identities.
The mysterious lover never made an appearance and many assumed that it was because he was in grieving.
The person everyone was discussing had been staying at home and had yet to speak a word since suing BM TV Station. He ensured that the tv show was cancelled and shut down before finding a bit of solace.
Meanwhile, having observed the man over the past week and a half, Wang Tao became distressed as he felt his boss slip into a deep depression. Wang Tao frowned a bit and thought over the recent events. He still hadn't gotten over the incident of Chen Xiang's death.
[ The rope was checked beforehand and the other guests didn't experience any problems, so why would it suddenly snap? ]
He checked the rope once while they were attempting to save the boy and found out that the rope was cut. When the other guests crossed, he was watching so he knew that none of them did it.
To tell the truth, there was no cut in the rope at all. His eyes could pick up the smallest details so he was confident. When it was Xiang's turn, he'd turned away to get some water for a second, making then the most likely time that the rope was cut.
[ But if that's so, that would mean that Chen Xiang himself cut it. He didn't have a knife, but the system could definitely cut the rope itself. The only thing is that I don't understand why? ]
Before Wang Tao could think further, Zhou Jian spoke,
"Wang Tao."
Turning around, Zhou Jian looked at the young man.
Just as Wang Tao was about to reply, he glimpsed at the man and sucked in his breath. The tall, handsome man stood before him as his chilling purple eyes pierced into his soul.
[...Purple…Purple eyes…]
Wang Tao was shocked at the fact that the eye color had changed.
They were no longer that dark sea blue, but a dark shade of purple, similar to the color of the lanterns he painted on the walls of his room.
They were such a dangerously beautiful color. With the great change in aura and more defined features, Wang Tao almost thought it was someone else but that slightly awkward expression and worry told him it was Zhou Jian.
"Why?"
Zhou Jian responded a bit slowly, pointing to his eyes.
"Don't you like it?"
Wang Tao couldn't help but nod causing Zhou Jian's lips to pull upwards. The strained smile on the older man's face receded as he spoke.
"I'll talk more about it later but...Are you okay?"
Zhou Jian had noticed that Wang Tao seemed to be a bit depressed. His assistant tried to hide it but failed and he didn't understand why. Thinking back to Wang Taos unstable mood the past year, his comcern grew.
The man waited patiently for an answer as Wang Tao thought carefully. He couldn't bring himself to lie nor could he ignore the weird need to reply.
It was like there was an invisible force trying to force the answer out of him. His fingers tremble slightly as he responded.
"Not really."
"What's wrong?"
Zhou Jian prodded however Wang Tao suddenly went mute, unwilling to answer. Seeing this, he sighed and a helpless expression appeared in Zhou Jian's face.
"Wang Tao please. I can obviously tell that you aren't fine, so please talk."
"I..."
Shutting his mouth, the silver eyes averted purple ones, staring downwards. A frown flickered on Zhou Jian's face at this.
"Wang Tao, stop staring down. Look at you, such a cold person yet acting shy and nervous."
The assistant's ears turned bright red in an instance and his head snapped up as he grumbled.
"I'm not shy and nervous."
Zhou Jian raised a brow at this. Embarrassment flooded Wang Tao as he whispered.
"M-maybe a little."
Annoyance appeared on his face seeing the laughter in Zhou Jian's eyes. Realizing that they'd gone off track, the CEO schooled his expression and looked at Wang Tao seriously.
[ Should I? ]
Being stared down by those purple eyes weren't helping at all. However, Wang Tao now understood himself more and did remember his friend's words of comfort at the New Years Festival.
[ Maybe since Chen Xiang's gone... ]
Clenching his shirt tightly, Wang Tao slowly revealed.
"I...don't like seeing you hurt. I was feeling down because you were down."
Some warmth showed in the purple eyes.
"That's nice but...what about before?"
Zhou Jian waited patiently as the silver eyes shook slightly, nervousness leaking through.
"I...Well...I was jealous."
"Jealous?"
Scrunching his brows, Zhou Jian became more perplexed. He couldn't quite see where this was going.
"Yeah, of Chen Xiang..."
"Did you...Did you want to act?"
The purple eyes widened in disbelief at his conjecture. He would never imagine Wang Tao to be that type.
"What, no? I would never, that's not why."
Taking note of his friend's growing curiosity, Wang Tao took a deep breath as he played with his shaky hands behind his back.
"I was jealous because...I wanted to be the one you loved..because...I love you."
