A day later, Zhou Jian entered his room and sat on the couch in deep thought. He didn't hear when Wang Tao knocked on his door for a while before entering. The silver eyed male sat on the armchair near the couch and observed the dazed man for a few moments.
Seeing that Zhou Jian still hadn't snapped out of it, he decided to keep quiet. Wang Tao picked up a book from the coffee table and began to read while he waited for his general to finish his thoughts.
A few minutes later, Zhou Jian raised his head and noticed Wang Tao to his left, reading a book.
The man sensed him staring and placed the book down on the table before raising his eyes to look back at him. Wang Tao then spoke,
"You two have become close once again so why are you hesitating to get into a relationship with him?"
Wang Tao folded his arms and leaned back in his seat awaiting an answer. He knew that there's no way his general doesn't love Chen Xiang so it must be something else. Zhou Jian thought for a few seconds before replying,
" I'm...I'm just confused. I'm unsure of whether he actually loves me or not. So I don't want to confess yet because I know that he'll probably accept either way."
Zhou Jian was currently struggling to comprehend the youth's actions. Chen Xiang's actions would always go from seeming genuine to a bit fishy. It threw Zhou Jian's mind into a knotted mess. The man was hesitant to act but also feared losing his beloved if he didn't.
Wang Tao only watched the others turmoil silently as he also contemplated on what to do. He was fairly certain of the boy's feelings thanks to the conversation with the system he overheard but also couldn't help but think that it wasn't hopeless. There was still a good chance for his general to win the other's heart.
[ The only thing is how. ]
.
Two years later in S base, a group of people stood in a room staring at something behind a glass wall. They all wore white coats and seemed to be anxious about what was behind there. A zombie lay on the ground within the concealed room as it writhed in pain.
The spectators sucked in their breaths in anticipation. The zombie suddenly jerked before it lay motionless on the ground. Everyone's face sunk as a blond haired man once again declared the experiment as a failure. The man sullenly left the room as the others resumed their work, checking to see where it went wrong. Meanwhile, two ability users disposed of the zombie.
Once out of sight, the blond male scowled in displeasure as he took off his coat.
[ Damn, I hate this! Trying to make an antidote for the virus is harder than I thought. ]
Entering his office, he dropped his coat on the chair before plopping down on the couch. A blue ball hovered in front of him swaying slowly. It was rudely pushed away when it tried to nudge its host in an attempt to comfort him. The blue ball's shade slightly faded as it proposed,
[ Why don't you just stop then host? ]
[ Are you stupid! How do you think people would react if I stopped studying what could be humanity's only hope just because I don't want to? ]
Chen Xiang sneered at the innocent system. The ball slightly sunk closer to the ground and tilted as it asked,
[ Then why did you start? ]
[ Obviously it's for fame and money. Once I finish the antidote, I'll be hailed as a hero for generations. Also, with this I could sell it to other bases for large quantities of energy stones. ]
The green eyed male licked his lips as he envisioned all of this. The system did not mention it again as it finally began to realize that something was wrong with its host.
Chen Xiang had completed most of his missions over the two years. He exposed Ming Yi's actions and she was now living a life of misery in the base. Her admirers and other people ignored and avoided her after learning the truth. She was now in the lowest position in the base, living her life with none of the comforts she was used to. Now all that was left was to create the antidote and save humanity.
Hearing a knock, Chen Xiang hid his expression and allowed them to enter.
"Jian Ge!"
He exclaimed, jumping onto the taller male. Zhou Jian smiled gently as he propped up the boy with his hands and moved over to the couch. Sitting down, he sweetly kissed the boy straddling him.
"Afternoon Xiang er. How are you? How is the experiment going?"
The man rubbed the boy's fluffy hair as he rained kisses down on his lover's face. Chen Xiang pouted as he complained about how the experiments are failing and how annoyed he is. Zhou Jian indulgently smiled as he comforted his lover.
"I'm sorry to hear that. But my Xiang er is a genius, I know you can to do it if you try. Just be patient. Don't dismiss your health over this."
A bright smile bloomed on the boy's face hearing this, filling the general with delight. Nodding, Chen Xiang changed the topic so as to not think of it further.
A while later, the older man gave his lover a kiss on the cheek and left as Zhou Jian was going on an expedition and had come over so that he could tell Chen Xiang.
Back in the office, Chen Xiang washed up before wearing his coat, as he contemplated over a few things.
When they first started dating in this world again, the only disadvantages he saw were their intimacy.
But after thinking it over for the first few months, he had decided that if Zhou Jian was going to keep following he could at least reward the man with his body.
[ After all, he has a very desirable body, with firm muscles and a broad chest, not to mention his excellent skills in bed. ]
The transmigrator couldn't help but smirk thinking of that, licking his lips slightly.
Chen Xiang exited the room before heading back to continue his exhausting experiment. Right now he just wanted to complete this mission as soon as possible. Maybe then he could cause his death again and leave for the next world.
Even if he dies he wouldn't be punished if he completed all his missions beforehand. The only problem would be if one of his missions entailed living a long life.
Playing with the keys in his hands, Chen Xiang wondered what Zhou Jian's expression would be when he realized that he failed to keep him safe again.
