Chereads / Blood Mage - The Undertaker / Chapter 28 - Chapter 9.3

Chapter 28 - Chapter 9.3

The twice-murdered bodies that had fallen on the bridge were frozen forever, even the headless ones, who usually kept reaching for people with those wounds, weren't moving today. The legless ones lived the longest, but compared to the earlier skirmishes, when zombies had to be chopped to pieces and then watch them continue twitching on the ground, now they looked like sleepy flies and were forever silent after ten seconds.

Checking the samurai, or rather their new swords, I called the golems back.

- Hmm, what was that now? - Alex said thoughtfully and looked at me. - Are the zombies getting weaker, or have you learned a new trick?

- The second, Alex.

A minute later the fire mage rushed over to me and nervously hammered his hand on the door.

- You remember, and you're my..." - I started to threaten, but was interrupted:

- I did it, damn it! - Eduard almost yelled and slapped my left shoulder. - I did it! Seen how golems knocked them out with one blow? Then the arrows work too!

- Don't waste it now," - I asked him. - We have ten enchanted arrows for each bow. We'll wait for the shadows.

- Alright," - he clapped me on the shoulder again and raced off to his car.

It took fifteen minutes to wipe out the zombie chunks and throw them off the bridge, and then the convoy continued on its way. But after five minutes the cars stopped.

- The scouting will go on from here," - said the team leader, a former chief re-enactor. He had been in command of the stalkers from the moment he came to the settlement.

- Okay.

Reconnaissance, this is my car and "Sobol", which had all-wheel drive and not inferior to the UAZ. Ten men and five golems. Additionally, we were joined by a fire mage.

- Do not go far and do not enter the alleys, try to have an overview and maneuver, - the commander admonished us. - Hit the shadows from afar, so as to have time to leave.

The two cars, packed with live and quasi-life fighters, literally snuck past the garage cooperative. There were observers and archers sticking out of hatches that had been made long ago, each one in a car.

- Zombies, people, nothing but zombies," - our watcher reported softly. - Not even any chimeras.

One of the fighters, who was next to him, under the hatch, duplicated his words into the cabin. Then repeated Lera's request.

- Alex, Mia wants to test an arrow on a zombie.

I was at this point circling a group of five dead men who jumped right out in the way, and I didn't answer right away.

- So what?

- Let him shoot at someone in our way, just once," - I said. - I'll pull over now.

As soon as I stopped the car, the girl lowered her bowstring, sending a feathery present at the zombie, who had previously been a tall, grown man. Now he was wearing the grimy remains of a two-piece suit and a gray, formerly white shirt.
