Chapter 33 - Changes

Upon falling asleep, I found myself blinded by light and floating mid air. A deep voice unrecognizable to me called my name in whispers and seemed like it was growing louder. I turned around only to be met by more light. My hip warmed and I was confused by what was happening. Suddenly the light was sucked up and replaced with darkness and I dropped down to the ground. I tried to unfurl my wings but they wouldn't show and I landed with a thud. The darkness seemed like it was the void but the ribbons that normally met me were nowhere in sight. I got up off the ground turning in circles staying alert to anything that might jump out. I heard feet land and turned to see a blue translucent demon charging towards me. He had two smaller horns on his forehead with two larger horns peeking out of long brown hair. An eye of blue and the green peeked out from behind a black band that surrounded them. He raised a sword and I went to strike him but I passed through him as if he was a ghost. He charged through me never hitting me and I turned to see him charging towards where the light had gone to. Suddenly he was gone as if he had been sucked away by the light. I stood alone in darkness confused after that until I awoke. I sat up in the bed still reeling from my dream when I caught Lucifer across the room getting dressed. He had traded his normal suit for only a vest. "Why aren't you wearing your suit?" I asked him. He turned and caught my eye replying, "Court is formal enough. Most demons dress in tatters and this helps them open up more. Psychology and all.". I rolled my eyes before rolling out of bed and making my way to the bathroom where my new outfit hung on the door. I rolled my eyes at the thought of putting this stuff on. The pants went on easily enough but I couldn't get the corset tied. After a few minutes of fooling with it, I admitted defeat by opening the bathroom door to find Lucifer messing with his sleeves. He caught my eyes and raised his eyebrows playfully. "Can you do this?" I asked him and he was to me in a flash, tightening it up and tying it with a smile covering him. I let out an audible huff as he stepped away from me. "This thing is so tight." I groaned, slumping my arms and letting my head fall back. "You'll get used to it Bonnie. Builds character." Lucifer exclaimed, winking in my direction. He went out the door and I followed in his steps down the hall and entered the courtroom behind him. The demons already seated met my glance. Eros, Beezlebub, and Sathanos being the only ones I recognized. Lucifer took the biggest throne in the middle and pointed to the throne beside his instructing, "Sit.". As I sat, a few demons let out growls while others spat. They made it very well known that I was not welcome and the wooden doors had not even opened yet. Lucifer stood up, turning around to face everyone and shouted, "How rude of me! I hadn't introduced you all to my betrothed, Mia.". He slightly bowed and held out his hand towards me where I nervously stood up and grasped it. He pulled me into him and rambled out, "Mia, these are MY princes. You already know Eros, Sathanos, and Beezlebub so I will skip over them.". I gave a small nod and he began pointing to each throne. "Gressil is no longer with us but that seat was his. This is Leviathan, Mammon, and Moloch.". Fearsome faces met me with each name. Mammon spat a red fluid into the floor when Lucifer pointed at him and it made my stomach turn. His face was one of a wolf with blackened eyes. Leviathan looked like he was soaked with water and his eyes harbored hate towards me. Moloch had the head of a cow and it took everything in me not to pet him. I gave a small smile and quickly pulled away from Lucifer finding my seat. Two demons entered the hall and stood on either side of the doors. Lucifer took his seat and the two each pulled a door open revealing thousands of demons waiting to come in. Remembering back to the lessons that Lillith had given me, Moloch was the fallen angel that turned to child sacrifice. She never said anything about his form including a cow head though. Leviathan had many names throughout history and was always associated with fish or the sea so that's probably why he looked wet. Mammon did help create a moon goddess and he made her in his own image so now that made total sense. While lost in my thoughts demons poured into the hall and it was filled completely by the time I looked up. I looked at Lucifer who had a devious look on his face and held his fingertips together in his lap with his legs crossed. I looked through the crowd when I caught one demon's eyes and he began pushing his way forward. I realized looking through the huge crowd, that none of these demons knew who I was and I could feel my palms starting to sweat. More of them began to stare at me and some began to protest. I looked at Lucifer out of the corner of my eye as more of the demons began running towards me. Lucifer leaned on the arm of his seat, "Mia, please remember you have free reign here." he said teasingly. I furrowed my eyebrows at him "What are you planning?" I asked. "I am planning that you not get killed and show my subjects how capable you are." he boringly responded. I let out a moan and slumped in my seat waiting for the hoard of royally ticked demons to reach me. The first one I initially caught eye contact with made it to me and grabbed my neck. I immediately struck him in the chest with my hand flat and he went flying far into the crowd. I looked at Lucifer again to find him chuckling. "Do I really have to do this? Can you not just tell them who I am?" I groaned. "You have to be capable. This has not been allowed since the beginning so you might not want to hold back Bonnie." he chimed. Two more had reached me at this point and you can hear the snark comments about me, the succubus, in court. Demeaning and misogynistic comments flew through the air. Before they touched me, I stood up grabbing one behind his knee and throwing him while I kicked the other in his chin. He collapsed immediately. I looked back to see that Sathanas had sat forward in his seat, a gruesome smile covering his face. I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned back to come face to face with a man who seemed to have bugs living under his skin. I jumped back and felt one of my chains snap forward slapping bug boy in the face and away from me. I turned to search for Horde but I saw him nowhere. "You should know your place succubus!" I heard from the crowd. Hands wrapped around my waist and I was pulled into the crowd of demons being thrown to the ground. Feet met me from all angles and I was really getting tired of the games down here. My hip started to warm and I unfurled my wings. Looking around I could see the light reflecting off the bodies that surrounded me. The next foot that came down, I easily snapped and heard a yell ring out. "It's an angel!" rang out from somewhere in the crowd and the atmosphere began to change. They began to back up when I saw a gray man with two little red horns charge me with a sword. I turned around pointing my feathers at him when I felt a slice between my shoulder blades. I tried to take off and found my left wing unwilling to cooperate. I turned and grabbed the gray demon by his neck, stopping him in his tracks. I pulled the sword tip out of my right shoulder blade and threw it on the floor. As it clattered, I felt all my marks beginning to come forward and a look a terror fell on the demons face. I extended my wings and spun in a circle clearing the crowd away from me when I was struck in the face by the demon I was holding. "You're really starting to piss me off." I huffed out when he punched me again. The demons began coming back towards me so I made the air hum and that seemed to keep them away for a few moments. I spat the blood out from the second hit before pulling him to me and sucking out his soul. He slumped in my hand and a silence fell over the demons and what they had just witnessed. The ones who didn't see kept pushing the others forward causing fights within the crowd. I looked back at Lucifer again where he had his gaze fixed on me and he was rubbing his hands together, a smile still stuck on his face. Sathanas caught my attention as he sat forward in his seat, seeming to be enjoying what I was doing. He was staring past me and as I followed his gaze, I saw the demons parting the way for someone. A silence fell over the crowd as he got closer. I stood waiting for this figure to make it closer as the fighting between them started to come to a halt. As he made his way a demon standing right outside where I was humming the air spat at me. I moved my head quickly avoiding his bodily fluids when I heard "You will die for your crimes, female!" from somewhere in the crowd. The figure finally made his way through the crowd and had a red sword pulled pointing it at me. In a low grungy voice he calmly stated, "You die today.". "What makes you think that?" I asked him and without answering me, he charged. I dodged quickly knocking a few demons down with my wings while the others still standing pushed me towards the demon with the red sword. I fluttered my wings to see if I had healed enough from the sword to be able to take off knocking more demons down. I chuckled seeing them put in their place by no one but me. Seeing it cooperated, I fluttered up easily taking into the sky. The demon seemed to anticipate it pulling out brown bat-like wings and projected himself upwards towards me with his sword pointed at me. I dodged but not quick enough and he grazed my cheek as I tucked my wings and rolled to the left. He quickly turned himself in the air and came right back towards me. I went to dodge him again but as I did, he stuck his elbow out connecting with my nose hard. I felt the blood trickling right after he did it. "I told you you'd die today." the demon said. I looked at Lucifer who still had that cocky smile on his face. I was getting my ass kicked by his minions and he was enjoying it. Looking at the demon I became more angry. I felt the comforting coolness overtake my wings and could see the flames flickering in the demon's eyes. I glared at him where he met my gaze with a small smile and charged at me again. I felt my hip warm and knew that my light was beginning to get brighter. At the last second, I shot upwards and kept flying up with him trailing me. Once I was almost to the ceiling, I turned abruptly and tucked my wings building up speed in my descent. He tried to dodge me but I corrected easily, grabbing him by his wing and dragging him down with me. Within seconds we were at the floor where I lifted him above me and as my feet planted on the ground, I slammed him down, dust and rock flying up around us. Quietness coated the hall until I heard clapping. As the dust started laying, I looked up to see everyone staring at me and the demon in our shallow crater, many mouths agape. Turning back towards the clapping, I rolled my eyes seeing Lucifer with a huge smile on his face clapping away. He stopped clapping and walked towards me putting his hands out roaring at the crowd, "I'd like to introduce my Queen.". Pride beamed off of him but after my experience, I was unamused. I took his hand and as he pulled me up, I pulled him into the shallow pit proud of my accomplishment. A small gust of air pushed my hair back and he was standing beside me outside of the hole. He leaned in and whispered, "Don't embarrass me Mia or I will punish you for it later.". I leaned in and whispered back, "After what you just put me through, you'll be the one being punished later." poking my finger into his chest. He put his arm around my shoulders and I shrugged my wings back in. "As you can see, she will not tolerate disrespect to her or any other female demons." Lucifer yelled. Hushed murmurs took over the crowd and as if knowing what they were saying, Lucifer continued, "I know this will be different, but females are to be regarded in the same respect as male demons. If you have any issues with this, you can see Mia personally to air your quarrel. Belphegor has been killed.". Upon him starting the last sentence the murmurs became outright speaking, drowning him out. Their faces all reflected shock and anger and I didn't blame them. In a tone I had never heard Lucifer use he roared again, "SHUT UP AND LISTEN NOW!". He waited until all speaking had ceased before continuing. "Belphegor is dead. Mia here did that herself. She has earned her spot on the court and will be your new Queen. LILLITH, LAMIA!" he called and the doors we came through earlier opened revealing Lamia and Lillith behind them. They came through the door and stood before the thrones. "Please take your seats in the court." Lucifer yelled. Deafening silence filled the hall as Lillith took Belphegor's seat and as if on cue, a throne appeared from nowhere as Lamia sat next to Lillith. "You all are dismissed." Lucifer roared and the demons made their way out the large wooden doors moaning and complaining about what just transpired. The demon I threw into the floor began coughing and I leaned over to look at him. He opened his eyes and caught mine looking at him. "I will kill you." he groaned. "Good luck buddy. Even Sathanos couldn't do that." I replied and skipped my way to the small door that led to the hall joining Lillith and Lamia who were giddy with excitement.
