Pain. Unbearable pain erupted through me. It felt as if I had been ripped in half. "Did we hit?" Lamia called out. I could only think of the pain. "Mia, you have to regulate your breathing. Breathe through it." she said. Lamia then started hissing and I began matching my breaths to it. While my mind started focusing I heard the beat of wings and began to open my eyes. "Oh thank God you caught me. I would've died." I called looking up to see Mika'ils face ghost white and his jaw set open. Then I realized, Lamia's hissing was keeping time with the wing beats. I looked up to see where Mika'il should've been to see two huge golden wings flapping about above me connected over my shoulder. I began to panic and the wings reflected that. I was high above the ground and was starting to dart all around. The wings began to beat unevenly and I began to start my decline back down towards the pumice stones. "Mika'il" I yelled, "HELP ME". Mika'il flew to me cradling me softly against his chest while my wings went wild. "Oh so now he has a change of heart" Lamia rang out internally. Looking into Mika'il's eyes, he looked panicked. Gone was the white light and his regular golden eyes shone through. The reflection in them was what caught me off guard. Black and bright lighted swirls danced across my skin. My blackened eyes lit up by a small crescent moon of light pouring out of them. My old marks and some new ones strattled across my face. The newest being two swirls going in opposite directions attached to my first lone mark. "Ohhhhh that's new. Looks nice." Lamia teased internally. As we reached the ground, my wings were still flopping erratically and Mika'il hadn't said a word. He set me down carefully and then slapped the ground making an audible thud against the stone burying his full body in a bow. "What the Hell are you doing?" I asked him. He didn't speak, only lowering himself further to the ground. "What is going on? You could have killed me and now your BOWING?" I questioned growing angrier by the second. "Maybe you have to command him? Like you did in the air." Lamia stated so I commanded, "Mika'il RISE and explain to me what the hell just happened NOW.". He lifted his head and slumped himself up, "I would've caught you." was all he said continuing to look at the ground. I shifted my weight to one leg and crossed my arms. "Tell me Mika'il. I don't want to force you to tell me." I said still upset. He threw his arms out and huffed. "Your wings are golden." he shortly said. "And? 10 minutes ago we were friends. None of that changes regardless if you planned on dropping me to my death or not." I said rolling my eyes. "Your wings are gold Mia." He replied again shortly. "SPIT IT OUT MIKA'IL." I yelled at him. I was done with his short answers that came in riddles. He looked at me shame coating his face as he began explaining, "Mia, please don't kill me. I am so sorry I disrespected you." He stopped and I clenched my fists. Putting his arms out as if motioning stop he continued, "I'm going to explain, I'm still reeling from shock so excuse my scattered thoughts. Mia, no angel has golden wings. Even when Lucifer was highest of the angelic order, his wings were only tipped with gold. The theories stand true and I cannot believe it.". After getting some type of explanation from him, I changed the subject noticing B was no where in sight. "Where's B?" I asked. Mika'il began chuckling awkwardly pointing to a nearby boulder, "Yea he passed out when they popped out. He's over behind that rock.". "Ya know you guys almost killed me." I retorted quickly chuckling. Rubbing his arm as if he was comforting himself Mika'il replied, "Yea sorry about that. We had to see the extent of your abilities and I guess now we have.". I pinched my fourhead, "Mika'il it doesn't work like that. I know wherever B is at I'm safe. Everytime I've done something powerful is when he was in danger, not me.". A foreign look came across his face like he was disgusted when he spoke, "You're in love with HIM? A being of your magnitude loves a lowly demon?!". He had began to pace when I interrupted "Mika'il, I'm half LOWLY demon but It's not like that we're friends.". Abruptly he stopped and stared at me for a second. "Mia demons don't have friends." he replied sternly. Before I could reply, we heard a wailing "MIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" coming from behind the Boulder. "Demons don't have friends my ass." I huffed at him walking towards the boulder to check on B. Mika'il stood there another look of shock plastered over him as I drug my wings across the ground. Walking a few steps, I realized they were heavy. Like really heavy when Lamia piped up, "Have fun with that.". Ignoring her again, I made it around the boulder to find B sitting up, slumped over himself looking like he was crying quietly. I tapped him on the shoulder and when he saw me he popped up on his feet hugging me "Oh Mia I thought you were dead. I thought he KILLED you and I was so hard on you." I returned his hug comforting him as he continued, "you were almost at the ground when a huge wave of gold mushroomed out and I thought you exploded.". Pulling away from me, I looked at him and said "B I'm tired and my brain is in overload. Let's go home.". He nodded quietly sadness still on his face when I linked my arms through his and began walking towards the buildings. Mika'il took a step in the opposite direction as if he was trying to sneak away when I yelled at him, "You to Bub. LETS GO.". He scratched the back of his head awkwardly before following in our direction. Lamia rang out "What a Bi...." "Lamia shut up." was all I said. Before we hit the alley we came out of earlier, I called to Mika'il "How do I put these things up? They're heavy". B asked "What things" looking behind me before he exclaimed "Holy Shit you have wings? How do you have wings? Is that how you not died?", "B chill out and listen" I replied to him. "It's an emotional thing. You have to be really calm and shrug them in." Mika'il responded. I unlinked my arm from B and closed my eyes and tried it. After 3 failed attempts and Lamia teasing me the whole time I gave up. "Screw it. I'm tired maybe they'll retract when I'm asleep." I said. They both nodded as we headed back into the alley, my wings making an audible dragging noise. I needed sleep as soon as possible.
