After our first lesson, Maths, I stayed in our classroom. Thinking.
It was mostly about Akane and Qin.
I mean, I didn't expect Qin to be on the Chinese team. I didn't want to believe it, but I guess it's true.
Meanwhile, Akane has to fight. I wonder how she'll do it. With her Singularity or not. Maybe that Absolute Zero leak thing is a thing that happens every now and then. If so, then she should be good for a while.
"What's the matter?"
Kuro said, jumping onto the long desk in front of me. A sneer peered up her face.
"Is it because I got into the team and you didn't?"
I turned away to hide my nervous face. Kuro chuckled as I did so.
"Kuroika. Come here."
"Hm?"
I turned and so did Kuro.
A bunch of girls walked toward Kuro. They were led by the most popular girl in the class, Yusaka Nemurenume.
Her last name is a pain to say.
To be honest, I only found out this girl was popular during Golden Week. I always thought Anastasia was the most popular but she seems like she isn't liked by others due to her demanding personality.
I didn't like her at first, but she kind of stuck around and I've gotten used to her. I think.
Kuro simply stared down at the girls on the stairs. She didn't move an inch.
Nemurenume wasn't pleased by this. The girl trodded up the stairs and grabbed Kuro on the arm, trying to pull her off. Sadly, she wasn't strong enough.
Well, actually, it wasn't Kuro. Anastasia was secretly holding Kuro down using her Singularity. If it weren't for Black Exodia's sensor, then I wouldn't have known.
"Why... won't you... Kyah!"
As Anastasia lowered her hand subtly, Kuro's hand detached itself from the table, and Nemurenume fell over. Kuro started laughing and Anastasia chuckled.
Even I started laughing, though I held it in after a girl glared at me.
Kuro and Anastasia looked at each other and then proceeded to give each other a thumbs up.
Calira and I also looked at each other and shook our heads hopelessly. Sebastian simply posed being watched by a crowd of girls.
"Gah!"
Nemurenume grunted while getting up. Her sharp daggers, her eyes, directed themselves toward Anastasia.
"So, you decide to mess with me, Anastasia?"
She growled.
Nemurenume kind of reminded me of a snake. Her eyes and growling face, I mean...
"What, you're going to pick on someone stronger than you? That's not smart of you."
"Who? You?"
"Yeah, me, and Kuroha."
Nemurenume then dialled her head to look at Kuro. Her look was nothing less than menacing.
She leaned toward Kuroha and put her finger at her collar bone.
"Let me tell you this, Kuroika! The team can be changed based on results this next week. I can take your position from you anytime I want. This is a warning."
She says it's a warning but it sounds more like a threat to me. And, since it sounds like a threat, it'll take more than that to shake Kuro.
"If you can, then why don't ya?"
Kuro smirked.
I think it was just me but it seems like both their eyes lit up.
Kuro's red eyes lit up like a laser while Nemurenume's ones shone like the stars.
I guess their competitive spirit is showing to me. Nemurenume and her friends strode away.
I sighed as I slightly crumbled under the pressure in that situation.
"Why didn't you say anything?"
Kuro said as she watched Nemurenume leave the classroom. They gave each other scowls before she left.
"You had the whole situation handled. Also, I'm merely your chaperone when it comes to social situations."
"Chaperone, you say? If, so, then help me regain my popularity."
I heard her mutter, "Not like I care," under her breath.
"If that's what you want, I'll do it."
I'm already trying to figure out a way I can make everyone like Kuro again and the best option I was able to choose was if she wins in the introductory battles, then more people will start to respect her. Though, this scenario only works if we have two or more losses.
If we don't lose anything, it would be the least effective.
Thinking about it this way, if everyone wins, then the people watching would think, "Oh, it's expected for him/her to win next."
However, if someone loses, it'll give the viewers added suspense as they watch. Especially if we lose two or three matches in a row.
And, just, hold up.
I'm not saying we should lose, I just thought that it would be very effective despite its little chance of success.
What also factors into it is the order of who fights. It's unlikely that they'll do the same gender against each other. It'll most likely be done by some sort of randomiser.
This method I thought of could be very effective but there are too many possible variables for it to be guaranteed.
Even so, it's the best method I can go for since no one will listen to me when Kuro's name comes up. It's either that or they start insulting her.
A bunch of girls came up to me before Maths and told me that I should clear off of Kuro since they were 'worried' for me. One of them even started to beg.
I just told them no and they left with frowning faces.
"Man... If only something was interesting during the break."
I muttered to myself.
"Everyone!"
Have my prayers been answered?!
A student ran into the room. I recognised him. It was Raiden, one of the closest friends I made here.
Everyone in the classroom looked toward him.
"T-there... There's been a fight between Meguru Ame and one of the Chinese students! Come now!"
We all rushed out of the room and headed toward the cafeteria, where there was a whole bundle of people. I forced my way through and Kuro followed me.
I reached the space.
Meguru Ame was on the floor. It looked like his face had been burnt by something.
Towering over the body was a boy. His hair was grey and covered one of his hazel eyes.
The boy padded his shoulder.
In Chinese, he spoke with an irritated tone.
"Gah, I don't like it when people touch me."
This guy...
