"What should we do next?"
Anastasia asked, thrilled.
It's almost like she was never the person who stormed off before.
"Yeah, can't lie... I don't think we should do anything else. Not with me carrying this luggage."
I was still full of bags.
Akane looked over at me.
"How about we put those bags in a temporary room and we'll go somewhere fun?"
She asked.
"Okay, but where do we put them?"
I asked.
"Ahem!"
The mistress coughed to draw attention to herself. She had an arrogant smirk on her face. Reaching into her pocket, she took out a phone. After a few clicks, we seemed to be waiting.
I knew something would be coming, but I wasn't very patient.
"What're we waiting for?"
"You'll see."
Anastasia replied.
And soon enough, a small robot arrived. It was around 2 and a half feet tall and shaped like a cube. It had the Altheria Academy insignia on it.
The front opened up. It moved towards me and used its minuscule arms to take the bags and place them in its storage.
"What is this robot?"
"It's an Altheria Academy helper for hire. For the right amount of credits, you can keep this guy for a while. It's called Theodore."
Akane answered, petting the robot on the head.
"Okay, cool, but why the name, 'Theodore?'"
They both shrugged.
Theodore, the robot, placed another bag into its storage, however, it didn't seem to fit now. There were still ten or more bags that needed to be transported.
"Don't worry about it."
Anastasia said.
She clicked her phone a couple of times and looked up at Theodore.
Abruptly, he became bigger at the click of a button. He was able to fit all the bags into his storage. Once he finished, he rolled away.
It may seem weird, but the way he rolled in and out was cute. Mind you, I'm not into robots.
"Now that we're done with that. Let's get to business."
Anastasia announced, putting her phone away.
The two girls looked at each other. As their eyes met, they both smiled. Uniformly, their eyes diverted onto me.
I broke into a cold sweat.
"O-oi, what's up w-with those creepy stares and grins?"
All that I can say for myself is... I don't think this'll be good.
--
"Bullseye."
As Anastasia released her hand, the arrow shot itself at the target and hit the red mark in the middle of it.
God, they had me scared for my life for a second. I thought they would do something to me but it's just shooting that they wanted to do. At first, I thought they'd use me as a target but just standing here is fine.
A piercing noise scratched my ears. Looking behind me, I looked at Akane. She was wearing goggles and holding a pistol.
"I thought this was arrows only?! Where'd you even get a gun from?"
She put down the gun on the table and looked at me, perplexed.
"What? You didn't know, Shoya?"
"Didn't know what?"
"That this place..."
Anastasia stopped her sentence as she shot the arrow at the bullseye once more. It hit the middle.
"is a mixed shooting range."
She said, lowering her bow and readying her next arrow.
I never heard of something like that, but I guess there isn't much ordinary here.
Anyhow, something has been bugging me about every shot that Anastasia makes. Every time she shoots, there's a weird feeling that I get in my body. It feels familiar yet unknown.
I would love to know what it is, but I don't have any information yet. Maybe it's just that I'm feeling weird.
"Anastasia. You're using your Singularity, aren't you?"
Akane asked her. The purple-haired girl jumped slightly.
"N-no, what makes you think that?"
Ah, I mean, she's kind of sweating excessively right now, so, that clearly isn't a big giveaway.
She's shit at lying.
Akane slowly walked over to Anastasia while reloading her gun.
"Well... Every time I see you shoot, your hands are lit up with electricity a little. It's very subtle though. If I didn't know your abilities, then I'd be a fool."
Something made Akane seem kind of competitive.
"Since you know my ability is Magnetism, how would I draw two objects to one another?"
I know nothing about the details of Anastasia's powers but I don't see how her powers could help here. I don't see Magnetism drawing an arrow and a target together.
"It's easy."
Their faces weren't far apart. One nudge and they'd be kissing each other.
"Repel the arrow from your hand. All that you need to focus on is aiming."
"I don't see how you could-"
"Give up, Anastasia. I've done archery before. Your arms are shaking too much and your posture isn't stable. From the way you hold your bow, there's no way you could get even a single bullseye."
Anastasia stayed silent.
"Ummm..."
As I started talking, she dropped to the ground.
"I give up."
Akane cheered her heart out.
"Wait, am I missing something? What is she giving up on?"
"A game."
Akane replied.
"A game?"
"We made a bet while coming here. Since I've done archery before and Anastasia has done shooting before, we thought we should switch. Whoever could do better without using powers would win."
I looked at Anastasia.
"But Anastasia used her powers, so you won?"
Akane nodded.
For some reason, I wasn't feeling the moment. Akane looked at me with a weird smirk on her face.
Made me wonder...
"What did you bet on?"
"Oh, nothing, just a favour from you."
"Huh?!"
I jumped up from my seat.
"What?! Why me?!"
The black-haired girl walked over to me and put her hand on my face. I could already feel my heart pumping faster.
"You don't mind? Do you?"
She said while looking into my eyes.
"N-no, I... Wait..."
I snatched Akane's hand off of my face and felt it with my other hand.
It was cold.
Cold didn't even begin to describe it.
"You alright? Your hand is-"
Akane ripped her hand away from my grasp.
"I'm fine. I just... need to warm up."
The girl walked away.
That was weird.
No matter if they're superhuman or not, nobody should be that cold.
I wonder if she's okay?
