[You're weak.]
The words resonated through me. That was when I realised.
What am I going to do?
Even if I go to try and help Emika, then I'd only end up dying and if I went, I'd most likely have to use Black Exodia, which isn't good for anything except for negating abilities.
[Brother... You realise that this school is full of people who trained their whole life to get in. They are not weak, by school standards. However, someone like you is a misfit. Weaker than all of them.]
It sounded like she was hurling insults at me, but even I knew that all she was saying was the truth.
[Do not try and lose sight of yourself. I may have to keep you here if you want to stop the attacker.]
"You're threatening me now?"
I said, nervously.
[It's not a threat; it's the truth.]
Yeah, even I know that...
Even so...
"I'm still going."
The girl let out a grunt of annoyance.
[You still want to stop the attacker?]
"No."
She seemed taken aback.
"I want to save Emika."
[...]
We stared at each other.
That was the first time I thought that I could see the girl's eyes. A smile shone upon her face.
[That's my big brother...]
"Eh?"
She spun around and walked off toward the everlasting darkness.
"Wait, I thought you didn't want me to go?!"
I shouted, reaching my hand out, trying to reach her.
[I didn't want you to stop the attacker, but if you want to save your friend, then that's fine.]
"Hey, wait-"
The space faded back to me being punched and hit by my friends.
Ah, shit, it hurts! Man... I have to find Emika before the start of Magic Laws. Before that... I need to get out of here!
Before I could even move from this spot, the teacher came in and started Magic Laws. It's too late now. I'll have to do it when we go to the dorms.
--
"God!"
Anastasia felt dissatisfied.
She bit her thumbnail in irritation.
Why is she irritated?
Well, she hasn't been able to provoke Shoya Sasaki, meaning no more duels and no progress in trying to make him her dog.
She was currently walking toward the dorms after a long lesson on Ancient Runes.
The girl proceeded to sigh as she approached the dorm building. As she entered the building, she went onto the girls' floor and went to her room. Room 199, her dorm room.
Inserting the key into the lock, she was stopped by a girl.
"Reishville-san? Are you okay, you seem a bit tired."
Emika appeared from behind Anastasia. She jumped slightly but composed herself practically instantly.
"You're seeing things."
Anastasia replied to the girl.
"Wait..."
She took a proper look at the girl. She had long orange hair and emerald eyes. Whenever she was trying to look for a chance to challenge Shoya Sasaki, this girl would always be with him along with some others.
Emika Kaneko. A friend of Shoya Sasaki.
(If I get closer to this girl, then I can get closer to Shoya Sasaki, meaning I'll be one step closer to making him my dog.)
Once Anastasia sets her on something she wants, she rarely ever gives up.
Anastasia put her hand, the back side of it, on her forehead.
"Oh! I'm, oh, so tired! I think I need someone to carry me to my room."
She was acting. Quite horribly.
"But your room is right in front of you."
Emika said, believing her acting.
That's when she realised.
"Oh, silly me! I guess I am tired!"
The purple-haired girl shouted dramatically.
"Ummm... Excuse me..."
A voice called out. They both turned and saw a boy. He was wearing a black hat and uniform. He was carrying a package. The boy looked similar to the deliverymen, who deliver things often.
"This is a package for..."
He looked at the package information on the box.
"A miss Emika Kaneko."
The girls turned to each other.
"Emika. What's your room number?"
"Oh, it's 205."
"That's at the end of the corridor, so why stop here?"
Anastasia's eyes narrowed as she glared at the boy.
"Unless you were gunning for her in the beginning."
The boy dropped the package and charged forward. Anastasia raised her hand in front of her.
"Huh?"
The boy was sent flying along the corridor; he regained his balance near the stairway. Standing up, he meddled with a bracelet on his wrist. Raising his arm into the air, he spoke.
"Ethereal Dimension."
Their surroundings started to ripple. After 5 seconds, the world lost colour, only leaving living things and beings with vividness.
The boy took his hat off.
His hair and eyes were silver.
"Girl. What is your Singularity? It seems interesting."
Argent, the boy, asked.
"There's no need for you to know. Well, even if you did know, you'd have no way of countering it."
The boy seemed annoyed.
"Oh... Are you that confident?"
"No, not when I'm facing a wanted kid."
Anastasia turned behind her.
"Kaneko-san, run. I don't think we can get out of here, but you can still run around. You seem to be his target."
Emika looked worried.
"But..."
"Just go..."
She nodded and turned to run.
"You will not get away."
Argent raised his arm and flicked it downwards. Emika fell to the ground, unable to move.
"Kaneko-san?!"
Anastasia shouted.
"I... I can't move!"
Emika replied.
"Gravity?"
"No, it's like... It's like I can't feel my body anymore. Like I'm just an empty shell."
Argent chuckled slightly.
"Now, I just need to take out the trash and I'll have you."
Something pinged in Anastasia's mind.
"Begone, mongrel."
Argent flicked his arm once more; Anastasia touched the wall.
"What is this? Touching the wall will not save you from-"
His sentence was interrupted. Argent's arm was forcibly shot backwards.
"Huh?!"
He set his eyes back on Anastasia. Electricity could be seen from between her hand and the wall.
"Electricity?"
"Hey, kid. Have you ever heard of opposites attract?"
Argent stayed silent.
"Well, the opposite of that is... Like charges repel."
