Now, this is lovely... Having my sister as a homeroom teacher. At least now I know that there's a reason that she listened to me so seriously when talking about my dream. There's a possibility she thought that I was (re)awakened as a Streia.
I ignored her smirk and walked up beside her. No one seemed to be interested though I did see some girls look at me weirdly. When Kuro walked in, there was loud shouting, practically every boy jumped up from their seats.
Now, this was definitely different from my middle school and high school. Not that I would know too much about my previous high school, only being there for a week and all.
'I'm Shoya Sasaki. Uhmm...'
I rubbed the backside of my head.
'Nice to meet you all, I guess.'
As soon as I said that, the girls started to pipe up too. Their shrieks filled the room. As they started their "Kya~!" I flinched at the ear piercing noise.
At first, I wasn't sure if that was a good enough introduction but I guess it worked out. Now it's time for Kuro. Let's see what she'll say.
I turned to her and she introduced herself.
'Hello everyone, I'm Kuroha. I look forward to studying with you all for the next three years.'
She bowed.
Though she was shorter than all of us, she acted more mature than any girl I've seen. I can already tell she'll make good friends.
Ai-nee got off the lectern and clapped her hands together.
'Okay! Shou, you'll sit next to Hikari and Kuro will sit next to Tatsuya.'
Tatsuya? It can't be him, right? Tatsuya is a common name.
Ai-nee pointed at the girl named Hikari. She looked at me. Hikari then scowled turning toward the window. I think she's pissed at me for some unknown reason. Ai-nee then pointed at the boy named Tatsuya. I couldn't see his face since his head was on the desk but I could see his white hair. That instantly reminded me of someone.
'Oi, someone wake up Tatsuya before I slam his head into the desk properly.'
That's violent.
The girl next to the boy, Tatsuya, shook him ferociously until he lazily woke up. That's when I saw a familiar face. His face looked stupid and distorted since he woke up suddenly sudden, but it was him.
His blue eyes and white hair simply confirmed it for me.
'Hey... Aren't you Tatsuya Aikura?'
I said. The boy looked at me. It really was Tatsuya. His eyes widened as he jumped out of his chair.
'SHOU?! What're you doing here?!'
'Enrolling, duh.'
I muttered, walking up to the empty seat near Hikari. I sat down and placed my bag under the desk. This place looked and felt like a lecture hall though I've never actually been to one. Ai-nee continued talking though I didn't really hear all of what she was saying.
As I turned to my right, Hikari noticed my glance and glared at me. I returned her glare with a nervous smile and wave, though she ignored me.
I wonder if I'll really fit into this school...
◈◈◈
Lunchtime came. Tatsuya and I ventured to the lunch hall. We got our lunches and sat down at an empty table. This place is really advanced and well-kept. I can't believe there's a school like this just outside Japan.
I mean, we use our student IDs to get food and the like. Though, it reminds me of a meal ticket for multiple uses.
'So, how've you been?!'
Tatsuya asked, digging into his food.
One would think that that's an easy question to answer but it's not with me. Too many things have happened in a short time span.
'I guess I've been doing well.'
'If you were a Streia, you should've told me!'
He said, pointing his chopsticks sternly at me.
'Well, I didn't know that you were one too.'
I nervously laughed at the end of that sentence.
It's been a while since I've talked to Tatsuya–since the end of my second middle school year–and I don't really know how to converse with him anymore.
As I looked over at Tatsuya, he seemed to have something that he wanted to ask but couldn't ask easily. He was doing his best to hide it but he's always been a person who wears his emotions on his face.
'What'd you want to ask me?'
I asked, smiling. His eyes sparkled as we interlocked hands.
'I knew you'd get it!'
I still don't.
'So, what's your ability?'
'I...'
I paused.
'...do–'
'Hello, Tatsuya-kun, Sasaki-san.'
A gentle voice said. Looking over to our side, we saw a beautiful girl. He had long orange hair and green, emerald, eyes. Her uniform didn't seem to fit her due to her large chest. Her face was red when our eyes met.
'Oh, Emika. Do you want to sit down with us?'
'It'd be my pleasure.'
Though she was closer to Tatsuya, she walked over to me and sat down.
'So... if you don't mind me asking, who're you?'
I didn't want to sound rude but I thought being straightforward was the best choice. She doesn't look like a girl who'd be troubled by it.
'Oh, ummm, ah, eh...'
The girl panicked slightly.
'I'm, uhh... I–'
'She's Emika Kaneko. My other childhood friend. We've known each other for as long as I've known you. Every time I went on holiday, it'd be with her family. She's a little shy around new people though she wants to be friends with you.'
It was surprising to see Tatsuya go out of his way for someone. He seemed strangely responsible when he was talking about Kaneko. If she wants to be friends then...
I raised my hand out toward her.
'Call me Shoya.'
'Eh?'
'If we're going to be friends, then you might as well call me by my first name.'
Kaneko-san's cheeks flushed red. She clutched my hand with two hands and brought it to her chest. She surprisingly looked determined.
'The–then call me Emika, Tatsuya!'
'S-sure...'
'I want to hear you say it!'
I was more focused on the softness of her chest than on calling out her name.
'Emi... Emi... Emika...'
A smile appeared on Emika's face as she let go of my hand. I looked at my hand.
It was softer than a pillow...
