Chapter 9 - chapter 9

Under normal circumstances Draven would have fought back but right now he did not have the energy to.

Brandon took the letter from his hands and read. He stared at him with burning eyes.

" You took away my mother's love and my mother as well" he said bitterly.

Draven tried to calm him down by telling him that their mother loved them both but he was not ready to listen.

" Oh give me a break. Even in her last words she mentioned me twice. What about you she mentioned you like a thousand times" he blurted.

" The whole thing is addressed to you and I come in just like a bytheway" he added.

" It's not what you think. You are making a mistake" Draven pleaded.

Brandon was not ready to hear him out at any cost. He dragged Draven to the door and threw him out.

" I don't want to ever see your face again. I can't live with a murderer under the same roof" Brandon yelled.

" Where am I supposed to go? I have no one else but you" he begged.

" Where you go is none of my business. I don't care whether you live or die. As far as I am concerned you can go to hell" he shouted.

Draven collected himself and left. If the only family he had left didn't want him then he was not going to beg.

He could as well book a ticket to hell if that's where his brother wanted him to be.

He had his father's curse to blame for all his misfortunes.

His father wished for him a miserable lonely and probably long life full of tears. That was exactly what he was having.

He was all alone in the world and still a minor. He hated himself for everything.

It hurt to imagine that his mother died hating him. He dreaded the fact that he killed his own father.

Maybe his brother was right. He really had taken everything away from him.

All that was left was for him to die and go dancing in the eternal fire.

His mother was mistaken to have wished a path of redemption for him. He was far from salvation.

His path was already too dark that his own shadow could never dare follow him.

He felt like the most horrible human being to ever exist.

He could not even dare look at his reflection in the mirror. He dreaded his own sight.

He kept walking through the streets with nowhere to go.

He kept walking even in the dark without caring about where he was.

He was crossing the road oblivious of the speeding car approaching.

Before he could realize it the car had already drove past him knocking all the wind out of him.

Everything around him turned dark. He could feel a lot of pain but he could not even open his eyes.

When he finally opened his eyes the bright morning sunlight hit his eyes.

He got up and looked around him. He was at the sideways of the road. The pain he was feeling earlier was gone.

He felt his eyes burn for a moment but stopped. Everything felt as if it had been a dream.

He could not tell if he had been ran over by a car for real since he felt no pain on his body.

However the dream felt so real. He could not even understand how he fell asleep in the first place.

He got up and kept wandering. He had to find a way to make a living very soon. He could not survive without a meal.

Finding a job was next to impossible since he was still a minor.

So he resorted to the easiest way; crime. That was the only profession he could think of that did not have a age requirement.

He was not yet sure of what kind of crime he was fit to commit.

Since he lacked the necessary equipment he decided to join a gang.

He pictured joining one of the most notorious gangs around town.

' What would become of him if they rejected him. Or worse they decided to kill him at the spot ' he thought.

The first gang he tried his luck at did not go so well for him. He got a lot of thrashing and went away limping.

Draven could not imagine that there was anyone unlucky than him. Everything had rejected him even crime.

He was still very angry at the boys who beat him up. All of a sudden he felt a strong desire to get back at them.

However when he remembered the thrashing he had received he chickened out.

He kept on trying his lack till one gang group gave him a little interest.

It was not a very strong gang but anything could do for Draven.

He was given the task of fighting a bully almost twice his size. The guy was strongly built unlike Draven.

It was a one on one fight. Draven decided to try his luck though he was not sure. He knew that the gang members did that on purpose since they knew he did not stand a chance of winning.

They probably were looking for some entertainment. They surrounded them forming some sort of a boxing ring.

The fight started but Draven was already sweating.

From the cheering of the gang Draven could tell that the big guy's name was Wade.

Draven shot a left jab at Wade but he blocked it and responded with a right hook.

The blow came too fast and Draven absorbed it. His vision became blurry for a moment. The gang started cheering for Wade.

Draven was lucky since he was fast at footwork. He was able to dodge many shots but unfortunately the few that landed almost knocked him out.

By the end of one minute Draven was panting as if he had been through eight rounds with Mike Tyson.

Wade was still looking fresh than ever. Draven managed a right uppercut and combined it with a left jab followed by a right hook.

He attempted another blow but Wade dodged. Draven felt a heavy blow land on his chin knocking out the wind out of him.

Draven found it hard to believe that he had just been knocked out.

The crowd cheered urging Wade to make for his killer shot.

Wade raised his right leg and made to stomp on Draven's chest.
