Chapter 14 - chapter 14

Draven thought his vision had betrayed him when he saw blood oozing from a slit on the guys throat.

He did not even notice when Michael moved his hand. He smiled with contentment at what he had done.

Draven watched as the poor guy bled to death. He was now furious with Michael for playing such games with him.

" I didn't do anything wrong. I just did what had to be done in order to protect both of us " he defended himself.

Draven was not angry at the fact that he had killed him but at how he had slaughtered him after giving him false hope.

There was no worse death than dying with a broken hope. Dying when you had seen hope of living.

Even the soul would be heartbroken by that. Michael had done the same to the poor soul. He shattered it completely.

He made him believe he had been spared only to die in shock.

" You are a ruthless demon" Draven yelled. Michael did not even flinch. " That I am literally and metaphorically" he said with a smile.

" But unlike some fools I don't kill my family members I only kill my enemies" he added with mockery.

Draven would have manhandled him had it not been for the immense pain he was feeling in his body and the fear he had for Michael's fighting skills.

" You are neither a demon literally not are even close to being one" Draven said with a chuckle.

Unlike his expectations Michael did not utter a word. He left without even looking at him.

" That make my instincts about you true. I was right all along. You should have just gone back home. You don't qualify to be a killer" said Michael.

For once Draven felt that Michael was right. Killing was not for him.

The only time he had ever done it was a mistake.

An accident that would never happen again.

Maybe he should just go home and forget about all that had happened.

Then again he remembered he no longer has an home.

Even if he went on his knees and cried his lungs out he was certain that Brandon would never accept him back.

Proving himself to George and the team was the only option he had left.

He would have to find a way to get round his fear of shedding blood.

If he was capable of taking his father's life then why should he even feel guilty about taking other lives who were not his blood.

He made a decision. He was not going back.

This was going to be his new life from then hence forth.

"You are right" a faint smile crept across Michael's face.

"Giving up too soon?" he laughed.

But Draven was not done.

At least not yet.

" But until I've taken double the lives you have I'll not be dying or walking away"

A frown settled on Michael's face.

The boy was insane he could tell that. Did he think this kind of life was fun.

If only he knew how much he wished to give up anything just to get out.

If only he had the faintest idea...

"Trust me you will regret this one day" he warned.

Then without saying any more words he began walking away.

Draven pursued him but he did not even bother to look back.

He felt pained that someone was gladly walking into a path that he had been forced into.

A path that he was doomed to walk in for all his life.

They reached their basement and Michael handed the briefcase to George.

" I told you not to interfere in any manner how dare you disobey my orders" George wailed.

Michael did not bother answering him.

He walked to his room without looking back.

George did not insist either. He could feel the danger signs Michael was radiating. He was not willing to risk his life over such a little argument.

He turned to Draven looking rather disappointed.

" You have failed. Do you know what this means"

Draven shook his head.

He was not ready to admit it. But he knew the answer.

He couldn't be a part of them.

They didn't need weaklings by their side.

He would turn out to be a liability for them.
