" I am not a saint either. I killed my own father" Michael blurted. Michael looked at him with contempt.
" Don't you go joking around with such matters. Some of us never got to meet our parents and you have the audacity to feel proud about killing your blood" Michael rebuked.
He had misunderstood Draven. He seemed extremely annoyed by that statement.
Draven decided to clear the misconception and told him about the reality of the matters.
" Do you ever miss your dad?" Michael asked in a concerned tone.
" I do think about him but missing him never" he said. Michael let out a soft chuckle.
" From what you just told me it was not intentional. Not enough to qualify to be my partner though" Michael said full of sarcasm.
Draven was very impressed by how he had seen Michael fighting.
He wished to possess such skills too. He was tired of having to run away from danger each time.
" Please give me a chance to prove myself. I promise I will not disappoint you" he pleaded.
" Today you have proved how much of a fool you are. To be a gangster you have to know when to fight and when to run for your life" he said calmly.
Draven could see that he had a point. He had acted like a complete d*ck and risked his life for a mission he had already failed at.
" The weak boy I saw today can't be the same one who reduced Wade to such a condition" Michael said mockingly.
" Maybe you are right. I guess I beat Wade only by chance coz I never was a skilled fighter" Draven said helplessly.
Michael was right. He was not the same person who fought with Wade nor the one who killed his father.
" In crime there is no room for coincidences. We think and act at the same time. I give you a guarantee that this is not your cup of tea " Michael said in a serious tone.
Despite Michael's warnings, Draven still felt as if he could achieve something to be proud of if he kept on pushing.
He kept on pleading to Michael. " Are you willing to assassinate someone when needed?" he asked.
Draven agreed immediately. Michael just smiled and left him.
He came back dragging someone with him. Draven recalled that it was the same person he had attacked at the club earlier.
Michael made him to kneel down. He took a gun and handed it to Draven.
Draven held it with trembling hands. He was a bit nervous since he had never held a gun before.
" Blast his brains out and prove yourself" Michael ordered.
Draven held the gun and pointed it at his victim's head.
He could not believe that he was going to commit his first murder. He was going to kill someone in cold blood.
He extended his finger and touched the trigger slightly.
Only a slight movement of his finger and the guy was no more.
He looked around him and saw the dead bodies scattered lying on pools of blood.
Images of a blasted head filled his head and almost gave him an headache.
He felt like throwing up at the mere thought. He took a deep breath to calm himself down.
He closed his eyes and swallowed his fear. He pressed his finger firmly across the trigger.
He tried but he couldn't just do it. He failed to kill him. He let go of the gun and it dropped down.
" Aren't you the same person who was crying for a gun this very morning. Do you take a gun for a toy or something?
To be in this profession is not playing Robinhood. We take lives but you want to give your life" Michael yelled.
" I think you meant to be an actor and act as a villain coz you certainly can't be a goon in real life" he added.
Draven was hurt by his mockery but deep down he knew it was the bitter truth.
He did not understand how he could commit crimes without having to kill someone.
" You thought for hours about whether to pull the trigger or not. In real life hesitating even for a second can cost you your life" Michael ridiculed.
Draven was no longer sure about what he wanted anymore.
He had imagined that killing someone would be easy since he had even killed his own father but he was greatly mistaken.
Killing even the worst enemy required one to be cold at heart.
" I promise not to let you down in the future" Draven promised.
" The world would have stopped rotating long ago had people depended on promises such as yours" Michael said sarcastically.
Michael held his hostage by the chin and made look into his eyes. He checked his neck and saw something that angered him.
" Do you still have your dagger with you?" Michael asked.
Draven took his dagger and handed it to Michael who was still focused on the tied guy.
He tested the sharpness of the dagger with his fingers." It is sharp just the way I like it " he commented with a scornful smile.
" Are you going to kill him?" Draven asked. Michael stared at him with a displeased look on his face.
" What do you think. Maybe you should tell me what is the right decision to make" Michael said.
Draven did not know what to say. He could not possibly order Michael not to kill him but he didn't wish for him to die either.
" Do you know what would happen had they laid their hands on you? Your fate would have been worse" he said calmly.
" I think you should spare him" Draven blurted. Michael gave him a warm smile.
He turned back to his hostage. " Here that you lucky soul. The boy wants you alive" Michael said softly " You should probably thank your lucky stars"
Draven saw a relief in the eyes of the hostage. He could not believe that Michael had chosen to listen to him.
