The night was cold and unduly long. It was the night before the morning which their fates were going to be determined. No one could sleep, everyone had their fingers crossed and their heart racing. Their eyes were still agape with their minds all over the place. They couldn't even attempt to escape, their phones were seized and they had no clue where they were. Everyone had something they had to go back to. Being held here or killed was not an option for them at all. What made them fear most was the fear of being used as an illustration. Two people lost their lives today for no reason whatsoever. It only made them wonder if they would even be alive for the test.
The long wait was finally over and the door was opened. They all rose up from their beds. 'Get in line!' The order was passed once and they were arranged in a straight line. Good, so far no one was killed, that was a good thing. They were taken to a different section of the building. As they were going there, they saw some people crying and begging being dragged forcefully and a few others were being taken somewhere else. They looked relieved, guess they passed the test. Wait, so were those other once going to actually die?
When they got to the place, they were made to wait outside in the hallway. A man came out of the room and ordered the first person at the front on the line to go in. It was a man, he was a little hesitant but with one hard look from the man, he quicken his pace.
Everyone had their hearts in their mouth, there was pin-drop silence and still they could hear no sound from the room. What test were they going to take and what guarantee did they have to pass the test? All that was unknown to them, all they knew was they had to take the test and it would determine their fate.
Heather was in the middle of the line. Her heart and mind were also as troubled as the rest if not worse. She was the fifth person on the line. She clenched her fists waiting for her turn.
'Click!' the door opened making everyone alert. The man was thrown outside like dirt. He was too weak to even move, he laid on the ground lifeless, mumbling in teary eyes 'please let me go, I can not die like this, please.' Another man came to him and placed device at his head to probably read something. Heather had her eyes fixed on the scrt of the device as it read and the result shown was 'FAIL' She shivered and had hiccups when she saw that. 'Please... please have mercy, I have a little daughter who is waiting for me... please l begging you!! Please!!' the man pleaded as he was dragged away on the ground. 'Please!!!' and Heather shot her eyes as tears rolled down her cheeks.
The door opened and the man asked the next person to step in. The woman tugged the sides of her dress. She was visibly shaking, the man at the door gave her a hard look and she quickened her pace. Another was in the room, undergoing the test. The closer it got to Heather's turn the faster her heart beat.
