Happiness was a strange emotion for Dallas.
He was so used to being constantly on guard, on making sure that his pack was secure and that he was prepared for the next attack or battle. It left little time for him to relax, and made him tense and snappish, more often than not.
He knew that it was grating for his staff and sister, but there really wasn’t anything he could do about it—unless he wanted to completely change his entire method of ruling, and leave himself and his pack vulnerable to attack. That wasn’t something that he was willing to do.
But with Bree…
It was like all of the problems and worries and struggles that Dallas had in his life disappeared, and he just felt content. His mate somehow made him see the world in a better light.
