Humans; always been considered as the superior species of Planet Earth and for good reason as well. I mean, if aliens were to come to Earth and demand for a one-on-one fight against any being on this planet, it would be a human that would come out to fight. They were literally the alpha species of this planet. Like, who were there to challenge their supremacy? The closest ones would be apes and chimpanzees. And even they won't be winning a fight against the humans even if they tried.
Although, on second thoughts, if the fight was completely based on instincts and power alone, they could actually overthrow the humans. But no fight is tilted like that. And that's because humans have a superior thinking capability that would allow them to protect themselves from whatever the creatures threw at them. Like, that's how they did stuff. They thought up brilliant ideas and they survived. And there is no species that could possibly develop Planet Earth the way they developed it…
...Or at least, that was how things were thought of way back—eighty-three years back, to be exact. What changed in those eighty-three years, you ask? A revolution happened. An upsurgence happened. The slow rise of superior species happened.
The thing about humans is that they never believed in stuff like supernatural beings. Well, they simply believed them as a part of fiction to make novels and stuff, but other than that, they never gave much thought about them supernatural beings.
To see is to believe, they said. Although, that expression isn't quite correct. Well, it is. But, if it's a singular person seeing something, that doesn't mean that everyone would believe in that person. It would only lead to maybe half the people believing it and the rest just putting it aside as a pure white lie. Hard to believe, but that's how humans worked.
And this was the fatal flaw in their system. They just couldn't believe it when someone in their community said that they were able to witness these so-called supernatural beings. Instead, they simply put their thoughts and opinions aside and called them lunatics. They were cast out of their own society for speaking of the truth.
However, the thing they weren't aware of was that these so-called lunatics weren't lying. Supernatural beings existed and they were lurking in the shadows. Initially, they were quite meticulous with how they worked. Like, if some human managed to see them, they would make sure that they see the end of it and dispose of the human that saw them. But things started to change when they realized that these humans didn't give any sort of worth to what these guys said. This stopped them from attacking these escapees since they knew that nothing would happen to them. However, it didn't just do that. It also ignited a fire inside them. Why, you ask? Because these people believed that human negligence was such bullshit. Like, how many testimonies do they need to get to finally realize that they are living, breathing beings? This pissed them off quite a bit.
But more than getting pissed off by it, quite a few saw the advantage behind it. They could easily infiltrate the human settlements and no one would give a shit about that. And they truly did make use of this and quite a few went on to be quite the influential figures of the human world.
And then it happened. Eighty-three years ago, slowly but surely, people started coming out as supernatural beings like werewolves and vampires and stuff. Initially, humans thought of it as other humans trolling LGBTQ+ activists with all the coming out on twatter and this just meant that they managed to piss off more supernatural beings than they could possibly fathom.
All those people who came out thought of it as humans disrespecting them. To be quite honest, the human standpoint wasn't that flawed. It was an age where online trolling and memery had quite the reach and there were designated communities who were quite interested in doing random shit to grab people's attention for the shits and giggles. And with the supernatural beings revealing their existence the way they did—which was twatting it all out at the same time, it wasn't that big of a surprise as to why many humans thought that it was simply one massive troll.
Anyhow, things got into serious mode when the supernatural beings banded together and called for a war against the human community. Once thought of as a blank threat with all words and no substance, things escalated way too quickly when the supernatural beings managed to conquer a small country with nothing but their body. Like, they didn't use any weapons. They didn't have any vehicles. They decided to fight like barbarians just that once so that the humans out there could get an idea of what they were facing and why they were invincible beings that would eventually conquer the world.
And that was the point where the human beings started to take the threat which was the supernatural beings a bit more seriously. Massive troops were deployed to battle it out with these super powerful people. They weren't sure if they could win, but they were hopeful with what they were trying to do. But to be honest, the entirety of the human race was doomed from the beginning, ever since they didn't get on the supernatural beings' tails. Ever since they stopped taking them seriously. It was a fight that they were simply meant to lose.
