"What are you doing?" I heard a voice from behind which legitimately freaked me out. When I looked behind, it was Max, the only other human writer with me. He was someone who was hired way before me and yet he was in the same position as me. And if you ask me, I get really sad when I see his situation. I mean, all these years and he never got the recognition that I believe that he deserves. So, what is gonna happen to me who just stepped into this world?
"Oh, I was just jotting something down." I replied, hiding the little book that I had in my hand.
This book; it was special to me. It was something that I had ever since I started pro wrestling. I wrote even the smallest of ideas that came into my mind in this book and at this point, it has a lot of ideas, both interesting and stale.
"Let me see." Max grabbed the book off of me. He tried, that is. I stopped him from doing so by pinching his nose to the point that he started crying.
"You do know that you shouldn't grab someone else's stuff like this, right?" I asked.
"I'm aware of that. Geez, I was just playing with you. I didn't know that you would go all serious about it." Max shrugged as he spoke.
"Hmm, why are you even here?" I asked again.
"Ah, I kinda forgot about that! The higher ups are asking you to have a talk with The Werewolf." Max spoke.
"Ugh. Why do we even call him that? He got a name, you know? It's Seth." I replied.
I honestly didn't get the ideology behind it. Granted that Seth was the only werewolf in the company for some odd reason. I mean, werewolves are like way more superior in terms of power and stuff, right? How come we only have just this one werewolf?" I asked something that could be considered as my genuine doubt.
"Here's the thing. Don't forget about the fact that werewolves are basically humans if not for the full moon. So, they are just a glorified accessory of a wrestler who gets hyped only on the full moon days. This makes them a bit of a burden, if you ask me. Coupled with the fact that the Seth guy doesn't know how to do a promo, he was already a recipe for disaster. He's just here to fill the quota, if you ask me." Max shrugged as he said that.
Up until that moment, I forgot about that one weakness of werewolves which was exploited very thoroughly during war. Max was right. In front of corporate eyes, a werewolf is simply baggage. But, if you ask me, that's because they don't know how to utilize a wrestler properly. I mean, I remember watching the old tapes where only humans wrestled. I remember seeing one small guy stand tall in the grandest stage of them all with the main championship of that company and people going crazy about it. So, it's not the height, strength or stature of the wrestler that counts at times, it's the valor and the never give up attitude. And the story, of course. But who am I to give any opinion about it? My opinion doesn't matter after all.
Anyhow, after having that chat with Max, I headed towards Seth. Seth, well, what can I say about him. He is weird. Like, not weird weird. He's just different from the other werewolves that I've seen. He doesn't talk to me. But I don't think it's the werewolves disdaining humans. It's just that he doesn't talk to literally anyone. And that's kinda like the reason why no one associates with him. And since that's the case, he was assigned to me, a person that no one cares about. So, all in all we were just two worthless pieces in the company existing to communicate with the other worthless piece.
"Hey." I tried waving the hand around before Seth, but it didn't seem to have any sort of effect on him. He just didn't care, no matter what I did.
Instead of a greeting, he just straight up spoke. "What is it this time?" He asked, without even making eye contact.
"Well, I was asked to speak with you by the officials." I spoke.
"About what?" He asked back.
At that moment, I realized one thing. I did not ask Max about it. So, I hurriedly took the phone and dialed him in.
"Hey, what was I supposed to talk with him about?" I asked.
"Umm, well… Tell him that there's no spot for him in tonight's show." Max turned off the call as soon as he said that.
Once again, I was tasked with the dirty work. I mean, at this point, make me a talent relations official rather than a writer. I mean, I'm doing all that, after all.
"Umm, so… Here's the thing. You don't-" Before I could even put another word in, Seth interfered.
"I know. You don't have to come and tell this to me every other time. Swing by when you actually have a spot for me in the show." He spoke, as he walked away from me. I felt bad because it was as if I was the villain here. But, what can I do at this point. Him having a spot in the show is not in my hands. I'm just the bearer of bad news.
