Chapter 7 - Day Of Reckoning

Mephistelle felt lost.

She knew she was previously confined, but now she had become a dog, it was to fast a change of pace, even for her. She didn't know whether to be happy or sad. What was more disturbing, was that the first person she met after being turned into a dog, happened to be the Demon Avatar of Perversion. She was scared. This man had killed her, she wanted to run away, to get as far away from him as possible, but before she could do that, she felt nauseous. Her vision began to fade, and she felt pathetic, 'I couldn't even run away,' she thought.

Chris ran towards the dog, and held the dog in his arms. He shook the dog gently, he was anxious, as he did not know much about dogs. The situation escalated drastically, and he began to panic as the dogs' heart beat became weaker.

{Warning! Low-grade dog, is suffering from severe dehydration, and starvation}

{Warning! Purchase healing elixir to stabilize condition}

{You can also take care of the dog until it's healthy}

{Elixir of healing

Price – 5 gold coins}

{Purchase ‐ Accept / Decline}

{Take proper care of the dog until it's healthy – Accept / Decline}

{Would you like to name 'Dog 1'?  Accept / Decline}

{Giving a name to 'Dog 1' will help strengthen the bond, and slightly improve her condition}

{You have one minute before automatic command begins}

Chris looked at the command window. He couldn't understand, 'why was it always so short on time,' he was still trying to make sense of the situation, he sighed. "I can't catch a break, and this isn't helping me either, I need to be more prepared, and ready for the future."

He finally got a dog, but he couldn't even savour the moment. Not to mention, he just realized Dog was a female, he had to work harder to improve his observation skills.

"I only have 5 gold coins, I can't use it all here. I don't know what will happen next."

Chris felt anxious, he was really starting to think the whole thing was a sham, then he saw a button aside the screen, and clicked on it.

{Would you like to go to the settings?}

"Yes!"

It seemed like he was finally going to get his break.

Somewhere on Earth,

A blond lady was walking down the crowded streets, bumping into one stranger after another.

"Ouch! Can't you see what's in front of you?"

"Hey! Watch where you're going."

"F***!"

"What the hell?"

"Is she insane?"

"Bastard! F*** off."

"Stay away from her."

"Ugh, watch where you're going, weirdo."

Anna didn't bother with a reply, she kept bumping into people while walking in the opposite direction as the pedestrians.

Half a block later,

She turned into a lonely corner, and entered a run down motel,

"Welcome, do you need a room?"

She threw a purse at him and walked up the stairs.

The man caught the purse and opened it, "This will only last you a night."

No reply came from Anna, who quickly raced up to the last floor.

Anna banged the door behind her, zipped down her hoodie, and walked into the shower. She ran the cold water, and washed herself as she suppressed her shivers, "Jeez, what a rip-off. They don't even provide hot water."

She had long since packed out of the penthouse, as it wasn't safe any more.

She had come back after searching for Chris that night, and getting bailed out from lock-up.

Getting out of the elevator, she turned on the lights, only to see grotesque half dead bodies which were barely alive, twitching from the pain of being dismembered, corpses, rotten animals, and various curse circle drawn in blood, imbued with black crafts.

She heard eerie laughter in the background, then she let out an ear-piercing scream as she saw a devilish figure approaching her,

"Ahh!"

She ran out of the pent house empty-handed; leaving everything she owned behind, knowing all too well that, the brotherhood was after her.

"Come back! There's nowhere to hide! Face your punishment, and be cleansed by the great one, your struggle is futile," the dreadful figure spoke as blood poured out of its mouth.

They had suffered many setbacks because of her, she had failed to capture an important soul, and had failed to rectify the situation. They did not tolerate losses, and never took failure for an answer. Not only that, but they deemed her a burden, and decided to get rid of her, even though the situation was beyond her control. The only one who could intervene now was the great evil, but he wouldn't. It wasn't his style, he enjoyed letting his followers suffer for their transgressions, no one would be willing to follow him if not for his overwhelming power. They were finally getting rid of her, she was all too familiar with the repercussions.

They were on her tail 24/7. she had to run, and hide so as not to get caught, she had become a fugitive in just a day.

"F***," she cursed.

She let the freezing water run down her body, as she wondered how she had gotten herself into such a mess. Walking out of the bathroom, she put on a worn-out robe, not bothering in the slightest to dry her hair.

"Crunch,"

She started to munch on the snacks she had got (stolen) from her prowling, as she plugged in her phone to the charging station by her bedside.

"Ting,"

The phone came alive.

She hurriedly began to go through the message's on her phone.

They were from the trackers she had hired to find Chris, none of them had any information on him.

"Request Terminated, …"

The messages she received stated that they were dropping the request, no matter how much she offered to pay them. Even the information guild had dropped the request, it would be foolish for them not to do so.

"Ahh." she clenched her fists, and yelled in anger as she rolled around the bed, 'for a run down motel, the bed was quite comfortable,' she couldn't help but notice. Perhaps it was her last comfort before death.

Recalling the events of yesterday, she lit up a cigar and began to smoke,

She had arrived at the information guild that morning for her appointment; after the incident at her pent house the previously night. Unsurprisingly, she didn't even bother to report the incident to the police, as there would be nothing there by the time they arrived, she would only be making things worse for herself. The best course of action was to get information to find away out of her current situation, she requested for Chris's whereabouts as usual.

"Good day, Miss brooks, care to place an order?" A tall young man, in his mid-twenties, smiled at her.

"I'll have a sidecar," she gave him a heart stopping smile, which left him shell shocked. He had heard rumours about her, but seeing her beauty in person was a whole other level. Honestly, he would have fallen in love with her, if not for the fact that she belonged to a group known for stealing the souls of humans.

He brought her drink to her, along with a note, she opened, and read it before downing her drink.

She walked up to the elevator, and cued in the digit for the 52nd floor.
