Walking out of the elevator, she entered an extravagantly decorated office, with lots of fur, and exotic designs everywhere. A man sat on a revolving chair making a call.
She quickly walked towards him in an attempt to make her presence known, but she didn't need to after all, he was a Level 25 Blood Assassin and detection was his forte.
"Anna, baby, it's good to see you again. I've been eagerly awaiting our meeting," Matt welcomed her with opened arms as he turned towards her.
"I'm here for Chris," Anna got straight to the point, she had people to avoid, and places to be.
She had a lot to get done in the shortest amount of time.
Matt raised his hands, and spun his chair backwards, his smile fading in dissatisfaction before saying, "I told you not to come here again, if it's about that."
"Then why did you ask me to come see you?" Anna asked, surprised by his answer. It was different from their previous arrangements.
They had agreed that he would provide information on Chris, in exchange for her time. It was to be for a few months, she was happy about it, but she was low on cash, and didn't have much of a choice.
"That's because I missed you, you haven't had time for me ever since you set your eyes on that jerk, and now his gone, isn't it great. We can finally pick things up from where we left off, you don't even have to worry about the great one," he ran his hand across his hair, as his eye's ravaged her.
"I'll put in a word for you, all you have to do, is be one of my sex slaves. I'll treat you well, not like the rest. You know how I feel about you," Matt licked his lips, and attempted to grab Anna's behind. She slapped his hands away.
"It seems like this was a waste of time," she sighed. If she had enough time, she might have attempted to play along to get some information, but she didn't have such a luxury with the brotherhood after her.
She grabbed her bag, and stormed out of the room.
"Don't be like this, I already told you that finding him is impossible, you should just give up, and hook up with me instead. I'm way better, you don't stand a chance, especially with the great evil after you."
"I can find him, I just need more time." Anna picked up her bag and stormed out of the room.
Matt still attempted to persuade her. "The great one's patience is running thin, how are you going to find him. The cops stated that he never left the room, they arrested you, saying that you were a suspect. We even had to come bail you out, so why do you still bother? Everyone thinks you've killed, and devoured him. I mean that's what you do," he chuckled, "but this time it's different, you've become a liability to the brotherhood, and they'll cut you off, so I'm offering to help you as long as you become my sex slave." Matt felt proud of himself, he felt she had no other option, and would have to choose him, after all he was willing to help her, in her situation she had to accept. Even as Anna left, he believed she would come back.
Anna left the office and entered the elevator, it began to descend with her in it, she didn't know what to do.
The police had turned on her, they had viewed the recorded clips from the hotel. She and Chris, had walked into the room together, but she was the only one who came out. There were also other videos from different angles around the room, no one had jumped out of the building, and no one had exited the room through the emergency door.
It was highly unlikely for him to have committed suicide, leaving behind no evidence, so she was left as the suspect. She had already been suspected as a user of black crafts for a long time, but she never left any evidence. This time, the police felt like they had made a catch, especially since she brought the case herself. No one believed she was innocent. They all thought she made a slip up, and devoured the victim in the middle of the night.
It had only been a few days, yet here she was, in such a miserable state, she couldn't believe it. There was a time when she had been an ace of the brotherhood, and now the same group was after her life.
As she unlocked her phone, she prayed to find evidence that she was innocent, she didn't wish to find Chris any more. She would prove her innocence, and run away to another country, living like a dead rat, she would change her identity so no one would be able to find her.
"Beep," her phone rang out.
'You have three new messages.'
"Target not found…"
"There is no evidence…"
"Request declined."
These words crushed her. All that was left in the room where she and Chris had spent the night were, the bottles of alcohol that she had used to intoxicate him, the packs they had used, his clothes as well as some bodily fluids. It was like he had disappeared into thin air.
"Sniff."
Anna began to cry.
She was penniless.
The brotherhood was after her, both her parents were dead, she had nowhere to go and no one to turn to.
Crash.
Bang.
"Who are you? Don't move, or I'll shoot!"
Crack.
"Ahh!"
She heard loud noises coming from the first floor,
"Damn it, they're still on my tail?"
She grabbed her hoodie, phone, sneakers and trousers, and began to run.
She ran towards the shower, and crawled out the window, walking behind the thin slabs aside the building, then jumping down to the first floor.
"Levocio," black force spread around her, as she began to levitate, softening her landing.
She ran further into the slum, turning at every corner just to lose them.
'Even if I lose everything here, I'll find my way, as long as I don't get caught.'
Fear swept across her, like a tidal wave.
'They've finally come to get rid of me,' she thought to herself as she ran as fast as she could. Her legs were aching, and her heart was threatening to burst, beating wildly in her chest. Not only that, but she couldn't run any more, she tripped and fell, her belongings scattering across the floor. Struggling to get on her feet, she quickly gathered her items.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
"No," her heart began to pound even harder, as the footsteps began to grow louder. Fear planted its grasp, firmly on her body, paralysing her. With shaking hands, she hurriedly picked up her things, and attempted to run, only to crash face-first into a man wearing a black suit, who donned a red tie.
He gave her a menacing smile as she fell to the ground.
"Anna!"
A voice she dreaded the most, crossed her ears.
"He came?" She turned around, and her eye shook.
'It's over.'
A handsome young man with tanned skin, and curly black hair stared down at her, a sadistic smile playing on his lips
