"May I know why are you here?" Amelia asked as politely as possible. I am currently at her office because I know it may not be best to discuss this in her home where her parents will be present.
I can see that she is trying too hard to not show the expression of hate on her face directly to me.
Ok! I can get that she doesn't like me. It's understandable.
But I am not sure how she is going to react after hearing what I am going to say.
Maybe I will be dead......….
I cleared my throat along with my non-sense thoughts before smiling at her gently.
"Don't you remember me, Ms. Amelia?" I asked hoping she would recognize me from that night. So that my task will be easier.
Her face was scrunched up in confusion as if she was trying to figure out the same.
"You seem familiar. But I can't remember...….." She dragged biting her lip, lost in thoughts.
Not gonna lie, she is sexy as hell. No wonder my Ame is crazy for her...….
I looked away before I am caught ogling her.
Sometimes, I doubt my own sexuality.
"You know what that night...….. where Mr. Samuel was drunk. I called you that night. You came and picked him up at our college dorm entrance." I said trying to wake her memory of that fateful night that made me leave their lives.
Her face slowly turned into the definition of recognition.
I mean her face brightened before smiling at me widely for the first time I came here.
Oof! Finally!
"Oh! It's you! I am really sorry! I guess I have some poor memory. I knew I had seen you somewhere." She said grinning widely while looking at me.
I just smiled nervously.
Suddenly, she sighed with great relief.
"You know what I am so afraid when dad made Sammy's marriage with a random girl. No offense, but how can I trust a complete stranger? But now I can relax a bit! I know we don't each other at all. But it's still better than some random girl who we can't trust." She said trying hard to control her glowing smile.
My face slowly halted to paleness at her words.
How can I tell that I am worse than some random girl?
How can I tell that she will hate me if she knows that I love him?
How can she be relieved when she will think of me as her possible rival?
I am afraid of the answers to these questions.
"What's wrong?" She asked noticing my pale expression.
"About that......" I dragged gulping.
"About what?" She asked folding her hands in front of her chest.
"About what you just said about me marrying Samuel......…" I bite my lips, harshly closing my eyes before proceeding to talk to her about my sudden arrival.
************************************************************
Yesterday went well than what I have expected. Amelia and I came to a conclusion about this whole mess.
So, I am feeling a little relaxed and guilt-free now.
Currently, I am at my parents' house which is in New York but not near the house I bought for myself.
My parents' house is not that lavish. In fact, they declined when I asked them to shift to a brand new home or my current house.
They said they can't fit in that world. And they love the memories in this house too much to leave this house.
Nevertheless, I can't disagree with that.
Even I am barely fitting into that world. I am sure that that world only brings them more trouble. So, it's better this way.
"Is this the man you are going to marry, Calla?" My mother asked pointing to the figure who is now clearing his throat in hope of helping this awkward situation.
Oh! I seemed to forget to tell you that I came here with my Ame.
Nothing worth telling.
Just silence throughout the ride.
He hasn't even acknowledged me when I went to pick him up at his house.
You can ask me how he agreed to this.
Yes! He doesn't. I already knew that. So, I asked him to accompany me to my parents directly to his father. I know he will agree to this because only if we go together, it will make some sense for our master plan of faking our relationship.
But don't think that he easily agreed to this.
He threw a fit for almost 2 hrs.
Finally, he agreed because of his father's final warning.
A frown of annoyance and irritation seemed to permanently settle on his face since this morning.
"So, tell us about yourself, Mr. Samuel. I mean our daughter hasn't even informed us that she is currently seeing anyone. But out of nowhere, today she says that she is marrying you. Does it not seem weird to you?" My father asked frowning his eyebrows together and looking suspiciously at Samuel.
Oh no! I know my dad is clear as a fox. I mean he is my dad. But that trait doesn't going to help the complicated situation I found myself in.
I chuckled nervously pretending that my dad has just cracked a joke.
But that soon died down.
Silence......
It's what I feel and see in this situation.
How am I going to convince them?
