When I entered Emily's house, my jaw fell to the ground. Not literally though.
What shocked me to my core was the fact that the entire business world was present here for a family dinner.
I mean who would invite the entire business world when it's a family dinn...Wait! I am suspicious of Emily.
I began to search for her among the elegant beauties present there. Not Physically, but by my eyes.
When I spot her, I felt the urge to run to confront her. But I can't. I won't.
I too have an image to maintain.
So, I walked elegantly like a 50-year oldie to reach Emily.
As a result of the adrenaline that was flowing in my body, I somehow felt like it took years to reach her.
When I finally reach her who was very busy indulging in conversations with business associates to notice her, I gently joined them.
"Excuse me!" I intertwined with a polite smile that gathered their precious attention.
Emily's eyes widened seeing mine like she has caught red happened. I indeed, she was.
She quickly turned away avoiding my questioning gaze when an impatient old man smiled very widely which was too good to be true….
"Aren't you the CEO of the infamous CA industries?" He asked in a tone which I knew very well because I have seen many people like them. They won't even batter an eyelash to a normal person who has no use for them.
I smiled a very obvious smile which displayed 'I am not in a mood to deal with you. I just maintaining my image'
"Yes, that's me!" I replied curtly nodding my head.
"Wow! It's pleasure to finally meet you!" He said stepping forward to me abandoning his previous conversations with other men.
"Yes! Of Course." I replied smiling tiredly.
This was the reason I rarely attend business parties. And these were the reasons why Samuel doesn't know that the CEO calla was the fragile girl who once proposed to him.
So, now I can figure out why Emily dragged me even when I hesitated. She knew that I won't come here if she told me it was a party.
NO, I am not an amid party. But, a hater of these types of business parties. They are 99.9% fake at least from what I have attended all these years.
They just try to befriend you if you have a bulk net worth or a person worthy of a useful connection.
I will prefer local clubs to these parties. At least they will treat you real and equal.
Before the respectable businessman continues to engage me in his one side conversation, I beat him to talk.
"Excuse me, gentlemen! If you don't mind can I take her from here? I have something to discuss with her." I said placing my palm on Emily's hand, pressing it painfully conveying my displeasure to her without anyone noticing.
She flinched slightly, well aware of our surroundings.
"Of Course!" He said cheerfully like he was trying to not get offended.
I mean I don't even cut off him or anything. I just beat him to escape here. Maybe that's why he was slightly offended.
When I successfully dragged Emily to a corner as if she was my secret lover, I left her arm to fold my hands in front of my chest, raising my eyebrows in a non-verbal question.
"It's really a family dinner, Calla. But a big...…a very big one" She said rubbing her hands together, smiling sheepishly.
"Is it Emily?" I played along with her.
She nodded vigorously like a child which will work very hard to make her lie true.
"So, Since when did Mr. Williams become our family?" I asked smirking, knowing well that this will caught her. And it did.
Her sheepish smile fell all at once and I immediately regretted it.
Mr. Williams was an amid enemy of our family. He was the one these people fear every day in the hope that he will not do anything for his revenge.
"Ok!, Calla, I admit it. I fooled you to bring me here. I really wanted you here. Because it's like the recognition party of Liam's relationship with me. I want you to be a part of it. I am sorry." she drooped her shoulders like she was defeated and I don't like it a little bit.
I immediately hugged her tightly. She slightly jumped not seeing it coming. I gave a very warm, comforting hug to her.
"I am sorry for making you think that I will not come for you. Maybe these five years have made it. But I promise I will do anything for you. Just ask. I will do it without even asking even why. Even if it will kill me. You are a family to me, Emily. I will do anything for you. You don't have to deceive me." I said to her freeing her from my hug.
But when I finished my words, I nearly fell because she hugged me with such a force.
"I love you!" She said hugging me making my lungs knock out of air. I whispered a small 'me too' with care evident in them.
Suddenly we heard someone take a huge intake of breath.
"Emily! Are you cheating on me?" Liam's voice made me nostalgic.
"What?" Emily parted from my embrace with a visible confusion.
"What 'What?'. You said you loved me but here you are embracing her like she is your soulmate." He said faking his anger.
When I finally turned to meet him, I am surprised to see my Ame standing next to him. Best friend things I suppose.
With nostalgic happiness, I ran to jump on him with a flying hug. He caught me nearly stumbling.
You may ask why I did that when I don't even show such love to Emily or even my Ame.
Because I have seen and always been in contact with her these years.
But him? Our graduation was the last day I saw him. I heard from him. Sure, Emily told me their stories. But it's never the same.
And for my Ame, it is another case which we all know.
When I suddenly saw him as a surprise, I nearly cried joy. Because he was the only one who supported me along with Emily in my college days.
I am not a person without gratitude.
When I parted from his embrace, I saw his face clearly after 5 years. Such a long time.
"Calla! Are you a lesbian?" His sudden question in my nostalgic question caught my guard.
Both Samuel and Emily snorted.
"You Potato! How dare you? When I expected an emotional welcome speech, the first question you asked me was whether I am a lesbian. How heart-warming!" I said dramatically holding my heart.
I folded my hands and looked away faking my anger.
Suddenly, I was lifted off the ground and my head was spinning.
Then I realized that bastard was spinning me in the bride's style.
"Calla is finally here! My other best friend is finally here! Calla is here!" He shouted however I am glad that I chose this corner to bring Emily.
Or he would have made a fool out of him and me.
I laughed heartily and began to calm him down.
"OK! Ok! This is such a heart-warming welcome. You are the best Liam." I smiled genuinely.
He finally gave the shining marble floor my feet.
I held my head to control the dizzy feeling! That Pig!
When I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was a grumpy Samuel.
I don't know why he was grumpy out of nowhere.
"For me?" I turned around hearing Emily's lovesick voice. She was holding her arms wide open, pouting like a child for candy.
Liam laughed shaking his head and rushed to sweep her off ground.
When I was swooning hoping that I will witness a fluffy cute scene, I got to witness the same, but another version. An erotic one.
He pulled her to him and hugged her. When He was satisfied with their closeness, he lifted her to his front, making her thighs circle his waist. He held her safe by holding her butt and within a flash of lightning, they began to make out vigorously.
While the silent Samuel began to cough awkwardly to make them aware that he was still there while they are making out in the middle of a party, I just sighed, shaking my head when I realized that they still doesn't change. Their chemistry was still an unquenchable thirst. They are always thirsty for each other irrespective of time and place. They don't even change a bit from their college selves. They used to like that in the college too.
It doesn't surprise me because I was their unwilling witness to these scenes a million times.
When they heard Samuel's cough, Don't expect that maybe they have stopped. Not they will never do that. Even I knew it clearly. Maybe Samuel was not their victim enough to know this.
Liam squeezed her butt. To all of you, it may be an erotic meaning. But I know its meaning. I know what's about to come.
Emily raised one hand from his neck to show us our way out without stopping or even noticing us. I expected it like always but Samuel doesn't.
When he was about to protest, I gripped his arm by hand. His words were left in the air for them to figure out because he was too shocked for that. I dragged him from there.
I left his arm reluctantly fearing that I will be used to it within a minute when we reached a safe distance from them.
"It's no use to disturb them. After all, they are engaged." I said casually not knowing how to escape from here gracefully.
I decided to just leave without making any unnecessary trouble.
I was about to turn to leave when I felt myself dragged from there.
Yes, My Ame was dragging me to the stairs which I know that it leads to the terrace, Of course, I know because it's Emily's house after all.
I can't protest since people were here and there. But what shocked me was that he doesn't care. He doesn't seem to bother that some people were watching him dragging me to the terrace.
When we climbed the stairs, I started to protest because we were alone.
"Mr. Samuel Foster, What are you doing? How dare you? How dare you harass me?" I started to thrash my hand in his tight grip.
When he heard my last words, he turned around calmly from which I knew that he was pissed. Because he was always composed emitting a dangerous aura when he was extremely pissed.
But I don't do anything. Then Why?
"Shhh!" He said in a tone of terror which caught me off my guard. I thought he will scold me.
Then he continued to reach the terrace in a strange determination to reach it before I can recover from the previous shock.
When we finally reached the terrace, his grip on my hand tightened like he was going to let all his anger out. I thrashed and successfully removed his hand from me. I began to soothe it. My skin is not so sensitive, but it just felt suffocated.
Indeed, he was going to speak. But before he can even start to speak, he was cut off by his own family members.
Yes, In front of us was his own blood. But one thing I don't know is why Amelia was not anywhere to be seen. I mean she was also a CEO. Right?'
There was his father, mother, and sister standing ... not sitting on the terrace relaxing.
They don't come out of anywhere. In fact, We did.
"Sam?" His mother asked with confusion. She was not confused seeing him. But confused seeing him with me.
