"Sam?" His mother asked confused seeing me with him.
To be honest, they don't know me and for me, likewise. I don't even have interacted with them directly. But, I knew them, because who doesn't know their lover's parents....I meant One side lover.
When I took a glance at Samuel's situation from the corner of my eye. I realized that he doesn't seem to have the answer for the next question that they probably will ask. I mean what would he say.
"Sam, Who is she? What are you doing here? You were with Amelia. Right? Why did you leave her alone?" His mother bombarded him with questions like a waterfall.
He gulped visibly and seem to hesitate his mother.
"Hi! Ms. Calla Mason. A pleasure to meet you!" His father saved him by holding his hand out to greet me.
I obliged silently by firmly shaking his hand.
"Hi, Mr. Foster. A pleasure to meet you too!" I smiled widely mainly to hide my nervousness. What will I say when they ask what I was talking to his son alone on the terrace?
"Do you know her?" Mrs. Foster asked confusion etched on her face.
He simply nodded his head.
"She is a well-known CEO in the industry." He for the first time smiled.
"Oh!" She showed a blank face.
"Is she better than Amelia?" Mrs. Foster asked in a very willing loud tone.
"I mean come on, I don't even recognize her. So, Amelia will be the best." She self answered her question with irritation overflowing on her face seeing me there.
"Alice!" Mr. Foster whisper-yelled, his tone screamed a firm warning.
Oh! How insecure! I mentally shook my head.
The smirk on Mrs. Foster's face slowly turned to a scowl.
Because I smiled. Like Mother. Like son.
"Mrs. Foster. I know that maybe your daughter-in-law will be the best for you always. But, you do know that is valid only within your household. Right? Because, in the step outside of your house, there will always be someone better. In that sense, I may be better. But you know. We can't always just assume. Because, For me, Assumptions are just a waste of time." I said with a smirk visible at the corner of my lips.
When No one answers, I turned to Samuel.
"Isn't it right, Mr. Foster?" I asked him controlling my urge to just laugh at his facial reaction. He seemed to be under a bomb blast right now.
"Huh?" He asked coming out of shock.
"Assumptions without knowing something or rather someone is always a fool's trait. Isn't it?" I asked him visibly taunting him with my words polished with my dazing smirk that decorated my face.
He will know its meaning. He was always a fool to assume everything about me. Whatever it was. A gold digger or a homewrecker.
"Yes! You are right." He said, his face was bewildered.
"What? Are you saying you are better than our Amelia? How dare you....." She began to boil with her own stupid anger.
Now, I know why Samuel was always behaving like some obsessed idiot.
I chuckled somehow finding some humor in this serious situation. I folded my hands in front of my chest, chuckled shaking my head not believing how childish she was despite her age. Quarreling about who was the best. Like some middle schooler.
"Again Assumptions, Mrs. Foster. Whatever, I don't have time to be quarreling with you like some middle schooler about who was the best." I said suddenly dropping my laughing face to put on a cold face. I know, right now I will look like ice. She was surprised not expecting my direct, cold words.
"Because, Mrs. Foster. I am not that insecure to compare myself with someone who I don't even know. Let alone she was not even present. Anyways, I rather prefer to do some useful work with my precious time. So, good luck with your one-sided argument" I said looking straight into her shocked eyes and shrugging my shoulders.
"How dare..." She was about to shout but I turned to Mr. Foster who was looking at me with amusement spread all over his face.
"So, Mr. Foster, It was nice to meet you. I hope we will meet again soon!" I politely smiled at him and turned my back.
But before I could walk away, I looked over my shoulder to give my last word and my precious smile which was too priceless for her to see.
"And Mrs. Foster. I forgot to tell you one thing!" At that, her eyes narrowed intently with a scowl on her face.
"I am always the best!" I smiled widely seeing her widened eyes and her agape mouth at my audacity.
What to do! I am always Audacious!
I walked away from there to avoid a bunch of negativity radiating from there.
As I was climbing down the stairs, I felt a tug at my hand.
Before I can make my next bling, I found my back pressed against the wall and my body pressed against my Ame. I felt giddy all of sudden.
I probably imagined this a million times, But realitythat will always surpass dreams.
I can't control my smile when I looked at his face. His face was the definition of anger at that time.
"How dare you talk to my mother like tha....." He shouted at my face but I just tilted my head and shut him up by placing my index fingers on his soft, featherlike lips.
His face widened at that action of mine. I felt myself traveling back to those nostalgic memories of mine stored in the back of my head.
"Can I be honest with you?" I asked sighing showing him how tired I was because of him.
However, I did wait for his answer. I just continued speaking looking at his heavenly face like it was the entrance to paradise. Maybe, It was.
"I can't deal with another version of your mom right now. So, with respect, get out of my sight!" I said pushing him lightly just enough to free myself.
I left after seeing a look of shock and surprise on his face.
I walked slowly losing all my energy from the small argument with his family moments ago.
I am just tired of all this. Why can't there be any change in my life?
And that change waited for me at the threshold of the door in front of me.
The change that I haven't imagined even in my dreams.
The change that turned my life upside down.
The change that changed everything.
The change that gave me some hope in my life.
The change that was the turning point of my life and my story.
There stood that change.
His father.
James Foster.
